well, if this may answer Jovolution´s question....Syd's sister, Rosemary, said once that in his later years he would play little songs to her with his guitar, have a laugh and then he would stop to talk about something else. But she also said that he only played for himself when there was nobody around because one day her husband saw him playing the guitar and as soon as Syd noticed he was there he inmediately stoped playing.

However, when asked directly, most celebrities deny they "want" fame. George Harrison complained bitterly that "fame" had deprived him of his privacy. It can be used to describe Henry Miller and his first work of genius and also monumental failure in many ways of a novel Tropic of Cancer. You can say the same about Syd Barrett.

I remember when I was really into floyd that on several occasions I would see a picture of Richard and then see a picture of Syd and think to myself, "they could be brothers." Now after all these years, I'm wondering if Richard was simply emulating Syd.
