  • ummm i just looked on amazon for this pitbull stand u speak of.......200 bucks?! HELL NO!

  • @trickstd83 just get any paddock stand, as long as its a proper motobike one its doesn't have to be the best brand

  • nice to see a girl that does something.

  • what if my bike is belt driven?

  • WARNING! NEVER put your bike in gear and let the wheel spin while cleaning your chain, your finger might get caught in between the chain and the sprocket and it will cut your finger off.

  • Waiting 3,000 miles to CLEAn the chain is way too long........I clean mine every 800-1000 miles and it's DIRTY! I lube every 200-300 miles and I get 30,000 miles out of my chains!

Also it's better to clean/lube the chain when it's hot right after a ride, the dirt comes off much easier and more of it comes off.

  • "Just invest in a tire stand, get a pit bull they're really good".....Then she does not use a pit bull stand LOL

  • good job

  • DAMN...girl got two black eyes, literally

  • Nice to see girl who can douing some maintenance, good job girl that way you save lots of $ with the repair shop,

  • Great video thanks :o)

  • how remove dirty oil on rear rim ?

  • DON'T PUT YOUR BIKE IN GEAR AND LET IT SPIN!

Or else, this can happen: gixxer com / forums / showthread . php?t=242261

Thumbs up guys, it might save a thumb.. or two ;)

  • can let me know what is the brush she use .....

  • @sweeseng85 Grunge Brush

  • Re 3:51 ... If grabbing the top-chain with your left hand, it would be better to turn rear wheel counter-clockwise to reduce the chance of getting your fingers caught between the chain and the rear sprocket.

  • I wish she could chean my chain and lube my shaft..

  • the grunge brish is not 5 bucks lol and your chain looks a liiiiiitle loose girly

  • why don't u use a hose and soap to clean the metal parts and chain guard rather than wasting the whole can spraying on it

  • ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNND You forgot to wear EYE PROTECTION!!!! Nice. Oh wait my chain is clean but I can no longer see. sooo I can no longer ride.

  • u need to tighten ur chain up... SO LOOSE

  • wow. cover that rear brake disc. Jeez. ur gonna need a new one now

  • I am sorry but thats not how you need to lube your chain... You are always lubing from the inside of the chain, so the lube is when you're riding going out itself ;)

  • 3: It's only necessery to lube the inner part of the chain, that's where the o-rings and the chain gets worn. Lube the side of the chain that gets in contact with the sprockets. That way centrifugal forces will make the lube go inside the chain and not just fling off.

  • Nice video, but there are somethings I'd like to comment on.

1: Kerosene works just as well as the commercial stuff and it's much cheaper.

2: You use way to much lube. Putting on that much will only attract extra crud and most of it will drop/fling off before you reach your first corner.

  • will u clean my chain? with your mouth?! :)

  • thanks this vid was highly informative. ill be doing this shortly and now i have an idea of wut to expect. :)

  • put the bike on a rear stand, put it in idle and.. no i'm only kidding. :D titty fuck! :D

  • Lol I'm sat here watching for the fourth or fifth time... And I think.. That's my bike :-) nice SV you have ;-) its also not a bad idea to get at the front sprocket and clean all the gunk out that attracts around there

  • Hi, good vid. But best if you apply the lube from the inside, ie spray at the bottom of the chain so the centrafugal force when riding will naturally lube the chain outwards and saving you some chain lube. :)

  • For cleaning is use Paraffin (UK) for cleaning soaked into a rag. I think in the US it's called Kerosine(?) Also as already commented it's best to work on the lower chain rung and hold a piece of cardboard (or similar) behind the chain when spraying lube to avoid overspray on tyres and brakes.

  • why waste a nice towel instead of newspaper?

  • What's an easy way to tighten my chain by myself? Meaning, I don't have anyone to help me.

  • S/great/gear

  • If your hand isn't touching the sprocket, in great for lube application it's fine.

Don't ever do out if you're touching it with a brush though, seen a horrible picture from someone doing that, pretty much lost his entire hand when the chain caught his brush and pulled his fist into the sprocket.

  • @AntLive29...No she's not.

  • I use diesel to clean mine too works great and alot cheaper than cleaner. But just a suggestion instead of putting the bike in gear like a few other people said just have a buddy spin the tire or move the bike for you.

  • don't put it in first gear ffs i know someone who did this and the chain jerked and pulled his hand round the cog and his hand was a fucking mess three of his finger nails were mangled and he shattered the bone in his index finger so don't put it in first gear because its really gonna fuck up your day he couldn't ride for three weeks

  • she is hot!

  • When my girl is not in the kitchen she's maintaining my bike to.

  • IM IN LOVE

  • Nice tutorial... alot lube, but great vid. Thanks.

  • kerosene is cheaper chain cleaner and it doesn't hurt the o rings

  • Oh and go for a quick ride before cleaning to heat the chain makes easier for cleaning agent to penetrate... And let cleaning agent set for a little bit and you wont have to use as much.

  • 1st we running same tires lol, 2nd was that big chicken stripe I see? 3rd, awesome I like meeting girl riders, 4th, overall good vid but with any lube a little gos a long way, and spray the chain lube on the inner side of chain that actually meets the sprocket , otherwise centrifugal force works against you and your lube will have tendency to fling off, where as if it's inside the force will aid in dispersal of the lube through out the chain.

  • "my chain was really dirty"

Errrmm... My chain looks WAY worse as I drive my motorcycle every day at any weather.

  • wasted too much chain lube and it got on the tire...hope your tire doesn't slip on the road

  • I use diesel to clean my chain. It works and it is cheap. When I lube the chain I lube it on the inside. Spraying it with chain lube on the outside, where the lube does not do any good, seems like a waste of time.

  • Q video

  • The quality of your vid is really good but OMG you have sprayed the cleaner and lube everywhere. Go and buy yourself a chain cleaner as it will take you a few minutes and no mess. Good vid but you should be careful with the application of the chain cleaner & lube.

  • Nice video and excellent camera work!! FWIW, i take a large piece of cardboard and cut a slot out to fit around the rear axle hub between the wheel and sprocket to cover the wheel/tire. That way, when I clean/lube the chain, the cardboard partition blocks any spray which missed the chain or sprocket.

  • Nice video, good to see your not scared to get mucky! Lol. Chain cleaning is always a messy job, I tend to just lube mine every few hundred miles, and remove it periodically for a proper clean- hang it up and first clean, then lube it, allowing lube/oil to run down the chain by itself and drip off into a tray below. Luckily i have a horse-shoe link so this is easy for me!

Have you tried the chain cleaners that are enclosed? I've not, but a friend says they're very good. +1 Subscriber!!!

  • You're going way overboard with the cleaner there. haha

  • What kind of stand are you using?

  • @TheBloodySinner She tells you in the video

  • Used way to much cleaner and lube. You didn't lube your chain correctly. All the lube you put on flung right off the first time you went for a ride. You are supposed to lube the inside of the chain because the force of the chain moving moves the lube to the O-rings, but if your lube from the out side it just gets flung off and never reaches the O-rings.

  • 1st gear! When spinning the wheel with your chain guard off keep your hand A-way from the top of the sprocket!

  • Hey i liked ur video a lot :-) Thanx a lot. This is farhaan from india :-)

    I own a Bajaj Pulsar-220cc.

  • YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!

at lest the lube-ing part !!! u newer lube it from above ffs

  • Great example, thanks.

  • Thank you, this video was very helpful to me.How often should I clean and oil my chain?

  • Very nice work, thanks for sharing, and taking the time on a great video with good comments.

  • Doing the first gear trick has resulted in loss of finger, just check out gixxer.com. Someone always gets too close to the sprocket.

  • omg that's super nice clean... I did it with toothbrush and also took my rear wheel off, and it's not that clean.. btw 5 hours operation :D nooo...

  • i just use gojo hand cleaner (non pumus) to clean my chain. then i use maximus wax. i do it on both of my bikes 848 and 1198R

  • Rofl... do you only drive on sunny weather.. looks like -.-

  • @speeedfighter4life I live in Southern California...sooooo yeah.

  • Great!!!

  • @ 2:37 look @ da way she shakes da can.

  • Very useful and well done, thank you!

  • Nice work. But what do you do with the front sprocket?

  • wow, you want Motil chain lube in Australia your looking at about $15 minimum....buy a cheap tarp for $5 from walmart or something instead of a towel then u can just rinse it when it gets dirty....also after you clean your chain, wash your bike to get the excess cleaner off as it will damage stuff.....when you lube put a rag under the chain, and spray small burstsand make sure theres a rag surrounding........or lube goes all over your sprocket and swing arm, and that is just a dirt magnet.......

  • chicken strip is a term used by immature riders who like to put down other riders that ride safe,

  • dont spray on disk or tire.spray ONLY from the inside at bottom between sprokets to minimize mess.

use cardboard, under towels, to avoid staining floor.

NEVER use a brush on o-ring or x-ring chain, you are pushing dirt inside and drying the pin assembly and it will wear in 2000 3000km.

never let drythe chain cleaner that long: dry it with rag towel and compressed air but not too close gain to avoid unsealing orings.

  • Hey I got a silly question..wht do u do with all the rags?Do u wash them or buy new ones for the next time?

  • Some people have told me that i shouldnt use a chain cleaner and that i should use a water/kerosene mixture to do it. Can chain cleaners demage the chain or something? im a noob if you cant tell.

  • thanks for the video!

  • o shit don't spray your break disk !!!. I would recommend to work only on the low side (away from spraying your break), also use some kind of board to put behind the sprocket when you spray oil like crazy towards that disk.

  • love your vid....

  • i would like to buy a grunge brush but my country does have any. i look up ebay and they cos over SGD25 to ship here. oh my. >.<"

  • The best time to clean your chain is when its hot.

  • Kerosene and a toothbrush, Done. Grunge brush works well also.

  • You don't need to clean your chain. You are just poisoning yourself with fumes.

  • Real men never clean their chain.

  • this lubrication lasts how many miles?

  • @rsscoyote Should be done every 300-1000 miles...or in my case, my chain was super dirty. It also depends on the "age" of the chain and what weather conditions you were riding in. It's kind of like getting gas in your car...you have to do it often. If I don't have time to totally clean it after 300 miles, I just take off the chain guard and spray it with some lube until I have a chance to do a full clean.

  • @MonicaRidesMoto Put it on the race stand, turn on engine, 1st gear, let out clutch slightly with left hand, spray lube with right hand . . . profit...

  • i guess im ghetto lol... i just spray lube.... then do a burnout... then wash my bike lol... no bike stand =(

  • @YoshiMan246 lol

  • Nice tutorial.

Also, go out for a ride and get rid of those chicken strips!

  • @alehax27 I ride the freeway everyday and I'm not a fan of the twisties since I biffed it bad on 'em a little while back. I'll get rid of them when I do my first track day next month! :)

  • @alehax27 what are chicken strips?

  • @NoFearKieranHere

The unworn part of rubber on the back tire. They are called chicken strips because it shows you don't lean very far when you turn.

  • @alehax27 oooh, kool :-)

  • A woman that knows how to clean..... I LIKE IT!

  • You should spray the chain from the inside when you lube it, that way you don't get as much fling off. If you spray from the inside the centrifugal force will push the lube in to every nook & cranny of the chain instead of flining excess on to your leg and the bikes bodywork

  • I really liked this video, so imma click awn the thumbs urp button awww yeaaaahhhh

  • you should also put something inbetween your lube's line of fire/drip and tire... lube + tire = much higher chance of low slide, never fun

  • nice vid, ur chain is super clean haha. now is there a way to get rid of rust? i didnt lube my chain for about 2K miles ( yeah i didnt know i had to... ) so now even though i clean and lube it, the rust is still there ;(

  • @TheMazaxist If your chain is rusty, get a new one. There is probably rusting/corrosion internally that you can't see. Your chain could snap. I like Supersprox . com for chains.

  • @MonicaRidesMoto Well its not rusty enough to get it replaced! Just a little on the outside! I just wanted to see if there anything i can use to get rid of it. like some kind of liquid that fights the corrosion or w/e

  • Great tutorial.

Just one thing: I know that towards the end of the video you mentioned it but as tempting as it may seem, NEVER clean the chain while the bike is running and in gear. VERY DANGEROUS. I've seen too many stories and photos of people who get their fingers and hands shredded between the rear sprocket and chain when attempting this.

The way you described the process in this tutorial is the safest way.

  • @crthebigo Just to clarify because of word limit. In gear it's fine if you're not touching the chain and just spraying on lube or chain cleaner/degreaser because you're in a rush. Just don't hold a rag over the chain to wipe it clean while the bike is running. It doesn't take much for the rag to get caught and drag your fingers into the sprocket along with it. As silly as it sounds people still do it and this type of accident is more common than you'd think so it's worth mentioning.

  • @crthebigo I've tried it once with it in gear with the Grunge Brush (definitely not just the rag) and it was scary and ruined my Grunge Brush. But hell, it was super quick and super clean. It's scary enough without it in gear just spinning the tire. Usually I'll wear thicker gloves, but I couldn't find em that day :-P

  • grunge brush (or similar brand) beats anything else. hands down!

  • nice...:)

  • Awesome vid one of the more informative how too's. Funny also as I just brought a heap of stuff today to do this very job and was considering vblogging it....but you bet me to it. ;P

Granted just got a new LED kit for the bike so I'll have to vblog that instead in the coming weeks. :). Keep up the good work.
