  • 1:46 As far as I know the sky-earth method is based upon the reflection of the horizon, so using this method on the breastplate but make it vertical seems like a big error to me. All the planets I have been on, the horizon have never been vertical oriented - so why did you choose to paint it that way?

  • @Colorc0ded A reflected horizon line only works like that on flat or near-flat surfaces perpendicular to the ground (his shoulder pad.) Objects more rounded in space, and tilted off-axis to the horizon, reflect the line more vertically with the tilt. Imagine a chrome cylinder as it tilts. Remember also this is an "idealized" technique - you do play a little with reality. Look up Sorayama’s robots for how this “airbrushed chrome” is represented in 2D art. SENMM is just the same effect on a mini.

  • me, my drawing and painting skill is worst then a 4 years old kid, i got loads screwed up mini and i think i should learn to just do the basic well, well enough for a not to be lol @

  • Holy cow man! now that's some good painting. That's one thing I need is a larger paint library. I've got one of each of the main colors, and a few different hues of the staple colors, but not nearly as much variety as shown here. Thanks for showing off your talent!

  • I was wondering do you cover making scenic bases in your DVD sets?

  • @Gr3atBr1t1shMoP

I cover some basing techniques in detail, but I don't do an entire scenic base from start to finish. I show how to do sanded, flocked, and sculpted bases, then go over the design elements of a good "diorama" style base.

  • this guy is good o.O

  • what is the name of this music?

  • What madel is the four legged beast?

  • @Andulvar It's by Reaper Miniatures. 14234: Guardian Beast, Crusaders Monster

  • @HotLeadMini Thank you

  • Hi man i realy like ur stuff, just so stunning i have one question the first miniature the knight where i can find one ?

  • @hectorMDPhD

Hey there - sorry for the delay. I've been inattentive to the YouTube stuff too much (obviously judging by the ads someone put in...)

Anyhoo. The mini is by Reaper Miniatures 14267: General Matisse, Overlords Warlord

  • @hectorMDPhD Thanks! It's 14267: General Matisse,Overlords Warlord by Reaper Miniatures.

  • What is the mini @ 2:01?

  • @TrailerrHikk This is by Reaper Miniatures. 02967: Alastriel, Elf Sorceress

  • NMM is just stupid, The armor and swords look like a 3 dollar sword toy from walmart, and you can't make them look worn or beat-up. I just don't see what the big deal is....

  • @TrailerrHikk I take it back.

  • @TrailerrHikk NMM is certainly not everyone's cup of tea. However, technically I find it more of a challenge to mimic metallics with normal paints than just using metallics. To each his own though. My video also teaches the same techniques using metallic paints to emphasize the highlighting.

  • Painting miniatures is an extremely time-consuming, expensive, and difficult hobby.... my drawing skills are well above average so I thought I'd try painting miniatures. I failed miserably... all it did was increase my risk for a heart attack I think.... I wasted a lot of time and money and now I'm stuck with a whole bunch of paints and brushes I will probably never use.... so yeah, PROPS to EVERYONE who does this and does it well, you people have my respect...

  • @T0rche Painting miniatures takes lots of practice. :)

  • @T0rche bud i do realize ur pain. but even the greatest painters of our world had to start somewhere. painting takes a ton of patience.

  • @T0rche just how bad is average?

  • @lessthan555 not bad at all actually

  • @T0rche I didn't mean to sound snarky there, my drawing skills are rubbish, I don't know what my skills at painting could be considered though

  • yea dude i learned like 20 things just from watching these vids, keep up the good work man

  • I was wondering weather to get reaper paints or vallejo what do you think hot lead?

  • @GodzSniPer300 From what i know, reaper mini paints are a little more profesional, as in you need a good 2 layers to get a nice colour. but vallejo is a little thicker and goes on easier. and i think they have more colours designed for painting tanks and armies. like havy blues and greens

  • where can i buy the dvd?

  • Same URL. "hot-lead org"

  • speechless man awesome stuff where can i get the dvd

  • It's available on my website. Can't post the URL here (YouTube rules), but it's "hot-lead org". Add the period. ;^)

  • well got to say..this is the best freaking minis i have ever seen!!!inqredible man,got get thosse dvds.

  • Thanks!

  • u r amazing were do you get all your minatures from because there so kool!

  • Mostly Reaper miniatures, though a few from others (GW, Earthdawn, etc.)

  • Hot Lead, that's amazing! Love everything I've seen, but that NMM work is simply outstanding.

Do you by any chance go into how you make your paints stay so wet and still cover so well in your DVD set? :D

  • Thanks! Yes, I go over paint consistency for blending and layering, as well as how often to add more medium or water to keep it the right consistency.

  • dude your amazin :)

  • cooooooooooooooooooooool:DDDDDD

  • OMG! Some of the owesome painting i sow. This is great.

  • Mmm. A Hole volume dedicated to non metallic metal. Lovely Great videos.

  • ooooo the gem on the eldar hero looked sooo awesome

  • HuH??? DIDNT IT!! WOW hey thats amazing!

  • What is the name and manufacturer of hte mini at 0:18?

  • That's a Reaper Miniature, from their Warlords line. He's #14267: General Matisse. Sorry, can't post a URL due to YouTube restrictions.

Not pictured are his metallic wings and shield.

  • beautiful. thanks.

  • WOW :O

  • do you tend to just concentrate on one particular bit at a time or was that just for the video?

  • It tends to be one section at a time to display a particular technique. On the Reaper Crusader model I do the sword and the entire breatplate.

  • That armor on the models looks ace but what scale are the models.

  • They're mostly 30mm (GW, Warmachine, etc.) The gold lion is just a larger mini in the same scale ;^)

  • You are very good in highlighting. MASTERS. Good work. Andd keep on doing that

  • That is crazy.

  • Yay! Cant wait to get my dvd!
