Sorry, but Dylan won hands down. While, some of his licks didnt establish a good tempo, he kept his own time better, he had the far superior tone, and his note annunciation was much superior- his notes spoke clearly, there was no confusion as to what note he had in his head. No contest.

To issue the final verdict for all th read: Dylan won, with flying colors (and licks) and samson lost and went back to his hole and sucked more balls. The-End.
While Samson does have a fair amount of technical skill, his tone was terrible. Dylan matched his technical skill with good tone, making him the victor in my opinion. It also must be taken into account that Samson refused to play with a rhythm section over a concert F blues! How much easier can you really ask for?

And if i wanted i could play some song really fast. But i was "improvising" not playing random charts i know as fast as i can. So learn what your listening to everyone

I think you have to give Samson credit for showing up at a venue with the cards stacked against him. They both do their own thing. They both should just agree that they are two different players and good luck to both of them. Personally? I dont think Sampson had anything stacked against him. From what I have been seeing on youtube, Ssampson had the fanboys and people were ripping on Dylan for standing up against them.

In all honesty, neither one of them displayed any overwhelming talent or musicianship. Nothing horrible, just two average high school level saxophone players, both seemingly under the impression that they're better than they actually are. What I find shameful is the fact that the band director allowed this childish spectacle to take place at a school event. As an educator and supposedly a role model, he should be ashamed of himself.
I start cracking up whenever I hear Samson's "tone."
