  • I think guys like mike diana have pushed the boundaries so much.....there's really know room to move.

  • Summertime!? LMAO!

  • What is the song at 1:14?

  • @yeondu2 "Voodoo Child" by Jimi Hendrix

  • @yeondu2 Actually "Voodoo Chile" By Jimi Hendrix

  • 1:49 - 2:56. Any thoughts on the guitar Crumb is playing here? Looks to be an L5, but the lower bout doesn't appear to be as wide. Interesting (though not surprising)

that he plays a right handed guitar. Given his predilection for old things, I could see him prefering (and springing for) an old guitar.

  • @timrawbubble well, Crumb probably didn't feel it followed his comic close enough... I don't see him being satisfied with much. It's his MO. Pretty much he's against almost ANYTHING that didn't come out of the 30's - the crotchity ole' geezer he is! heh heh heh...

  • Sadly the only Fritz the Cat movie I saw was Nine Lives, which was absolutely godawful and I'm sure not even loosely based on the original comic anymore. It looks like at least the original Fritz the Cat was based on the comic. Ralph Bakshi blows anyway.

  • Funny how Crumb thought the "values", or the "vision" of the animated Fritz The cat depressed him... so he decides to "kill" Fritz... only for the studio to bring Fritz BACK again with Nine Lives. It all seems so petty. I wonder if in hindsight, seeing now that the original Fritz movie actually stands up pretty well - if Crumb in his later years has changed his mind somewhat? I just re-viewed that first Fritz movie and thought it was pretty profound... nuthin' to sneeze at anyway...

  • "How do we print them without going to jail?" Ha, ha. I am ancient enough to have seen "Fritz The Cat" when it first came out, in a a big, mainstream theater in downtown Chicago. Prior to Fritz, the only animation that had ever played there came from Disney when Uncle Walt was in total control.

Always wondered how they pitched Fritz to get it booked there. Thanks for posting these.

  • very cool, a bit like the "Crumb" movie, but some things i didn't know.

Thanks for posting these clips. :)

I saw Crumb with the Cheap Suit Seranaders at the UC Davis Coffee House circa 1974, they were a decent jug band.

  • great
