Thanks for showing Chip's Challenge; I have it on my Atari Lynx, and someone gave me the Windows Entertainment Pack which had it on. It was inferior, as you say, but I hadn't seen the DOS version running before. I shall look into it to run in DOSBox under Linux. Is the IBM a PC you've had since 'back in the day'? By the way, can you lock the focus on your camcorder? ;)

I like the way Dizzy 3 has spectum style music, I didn't hear the music when I ran it on my old win 98 pc, although the game itelf ran perfectly, but when I played it in Dosbox and heard it for the very first time i was like WTF!
What I don't get is why people of the modern era mock computers they never even saw. I'm 14 and sadly the only one at my school that even knows what a 386 is. And when I tell others about it they always call them worthless, crap, horrible, or any combination of those three. If only they would actually take the time to see these computers they would understand. But in the modern era people only care about hi definition graphics even though the story lines for 9/10'ths of the games out there suck.
Hopefully, its the FPS called "Blood" - a gory shooter from 1997 - I've got that on my 386sux - it's worth playing it just to shoot the zombies with the flare pistol and watch them run at you screaming, on fire ;)
yes, it was kind of integrated in the screen. The computer's power supply had to go through the screen, because the on-switch was on the screen as well. Another interesting thing was that there was a D:-drive that was a ROM with an IBM:s own OS on. You could install another OS on the C: and then select it as the boot-drive. I think it had DOS 3.3 as standard. A special computer in several ways.
I collect old PC's. I have a mint IBM PC XT 4.77MHz and hopefully getting a rare EGA card for it. It has a CGA video card in it. I also have a power supply on the way for my IBM Model 55/SX 80386 60MB HDD 2MB RAM. I am going to upgrade the RAM. I have high respect for older PCs. I am 26 and grew up with a Tandy 1000. Many of my generation has no clue of what made the AMD 64 X2's and Pentium Dual Cores possible.
well to be honest its about if youve been through that age or not - you can say somethiing has crap graphics or crap specifications easily if you didnt go through that age if you know what i mean
Isnt it crazy that a lot of people would use the pc internal beeper for their sound on the older pc's - sound cards were expensive in the day - i think thats something worth noting !
WOW Thats my first computer! :D

Blood was great.
I have fond memories of dual wielding pistols and kicking heads around.
Good times.

Awesome PC, maybe you should put in a Sound Blaster 16 sound card and install Calmira on Windows 3.1. (Which is a freeware Windows 95 interface.)

Is that a Microchannel Creative Sound blaster card? Those things are damn hard to find.

have your IBM PS/2 MODEL 55SX a sound card?

This makes me miss my IBM PS/1. Sierra's Quest-games with the SCSI-engine were played a lot on it.
The volume control for the beeper was very handy. Later computers miss that.

you had a volume control on your beeper? omg - you lucky devil - mine was really loud in those days

You can spot those people by the comments they leave. People that laugh at the specs on old computers piss me off.
