I bought a new Gibson B.B. King Lucille 5 years ago (2006) and I paid $2495 for it. It may be worth 5 grand now but it was half that when I bought mine new. Of course when B.B. passes on I look for the price to go to the Moon.
Hi. First of all, great video, and beautiful guitar.
Hey, i was hopping u could give me ur coments about this question...
Is it worth it to buy a custom guitar, like the beauty ure playing or its better a standar version?. I was planing on buying a Lucille but epiphone, i cant pay the gibson one yet, and i cant decide between a Lucille or a Sheraton 2
@hoffnerbass Depends on your playing level and budget. If you're starting out with guitar, I think it's better to try out both single and humbucker electrics and both hollowbody and soldbody electrics. You'll end up gravitating towards the sound which best fits you. While you can't have too many guitars, pick one which you can afford and has your favorite tone. Key in the equation is a good amp. I recommend tube amps. Good luck!
That's a real Gibson ES-355 (AKA - B.B. King Signature "Lucille") does that have the tailpiece with "Fine Tuners" on it (So it would be like a Floyd Rose Tremolo System that was Blocked...or a cross between the Gibson Stop Tailpiece & the Floyd Rose Tremolo System; having the Look & Action of a Gibson Stop Tailpiece & the "Fine Tuners" of a Floyd Rose Tremolo)...That's like a $5,000 Guitar...NEW
BB has a reward of 500k for the return of his original lucille, and it was stolen sometime during the 40s from the back of his car, from what ive heard its an acoustic blues guitar with a patched up sound hole, single soapbar-like pickup with a sigle piece adjustable bridge.
BB has used a number of iterations. Lucille morphed from a Gibson ES-355 into the current form. The above guitar is a 1982, the 1st year of "Lucille" production. The latest Gibson BBKing models have a much thicker neck and the body is quite different.
Great vid man! I've got a Lucille as well...in cherry. I can't help it...I just like red guitars. Keep on pickin' and a-grinnin' and don't go running into any burning bars.
congratulations on a great guitar. I have a telecaster and love it, but as soon as i get the money i'll buy one os these(since i'm sixteen, a long time from now)

I recall BB saying it was stolen a long time ago and he never found it... I'm sure it would be worth a ton if it ever did turn up
