that dude don't know how to speak arabic i mean the driver he doesn't have the accent i know cause i am from algeria and we speak arabic but not the fusha a street one
EVEn in my country we have many ways to speak it over 10 hahahah (( we call it dareja ))
You are so fearless taping your level-ups! Awesome work! Arabic is next on my list. The sounds are beautiful. I've been in the cab w/ my husband speaking Arabic to the driver. Drives me crazy with jealousy when he can speak a language I can't! Did the driver ever know you were recording?
This video is so inspirational :x right now i'm struggling to learn my first second language, but videos like this...motivate me so much. If you can become competent in multiple languages, i should be able to achieve the same thing with at least one additional language, besides my native english. I'm a big fan Moses! thanks for the vid.
Funny story, I went to a Korean Beauty Supply Store a few weeks ago and as I approached the cashier I said 안녕하세요 she smiled and asked me in English if I spoke Korean I replied in Korean응, 조금 her eyes widened. She asked "Where are you from" I said "I'm from here" then she said "Where are you parents from?" I told her Haiti, then she gave me one of those Ahhhaaa that's why looks. I need to keep up with my Korean studies but sometime FT work/school gets in the way but your vids keep me motivated!
great level up ... your Arabic seems a little better than your last level at the hospital. Nice work bro. btw, I didn't get the last part when you wanted to pay him, what was this device all about?
@AysarAburrub It was the taxi driver's phone connected with something called Square, which facilitates credit transactions via mobile devices. You can visit their website at square(.)com
I simply smiled whiled you were speaking Arabic and he said your just perfect in Arabic. It's funny how he said are you from here? Where are your parents from? LOL! The main reason being is that foreigners think Black Americans have no interest in other languages. One of my favorite videos Moses. Keep up the good work!!!!
"One language sets you in a corridor for life. Two languages open every door along the way"
@medlinemd Yea, I get this a lot from almost all of the foreigners I practice with. That's the first thing they tend to get into before asking about anything else. ''Where are you from'' ''Where are your parents from'' I can understand why they would though because it's not very common for us to learn languages all like that.
That's so true. I know it may sound cliche, but I hope more and more people will begin to take language learning seriously so that they can see how enriching it is.
Moses have you ever used meetup groups ( you know from meetup dot kom ) to practice languages ? i am thinking about attending "language exchange sundays" group in Manhattan ( about an hour from where i live ). what do you think ?
@laoshu505000 i swear I was just like you trying to rack my brain to come up with name of the country. I knew what it was because there are a lot of them in Washington DC. LOL
@laoshu505000 so i went - it was pretty cool :) thank you for inspiring me to get out of the house. even though i didn't say much at the meetup in languages other than English i now feel more motivated to study :)
This is great I love taking cabs. I take them often and I've been able to practice Arabic, French, and German just by talking to the right cab drivers!
but if we go to any other arabic country we can understand them and same way for the other
