I can only say I am pleased to see the poem interprated into (AT LEAST) a video game. When I first read Dante's Devine Comedy in my early 20's: It was a culmination of being utterly horrified because I'm too visual and not being able to put it down. Its not meant for the 'recreational' reader. 100% believe with a sick budget/talent that this movie would break all records and go down as a film that makes The Exorcist feel like a Barney cartoon. With Wayne Barlowe at the helm for sure.

You know... Dante's inferno it's a divine commedy written by Dante Alighieri. If this game get's boycotted by God of War's fanboys it's because they are fucking ignorant.
Because back in the 1300s, when the Divine Comedy was written, a "Comedy" was classified as a story with a happy ending, not a story that was funny. Dante *did* his version of a happy ending in Paradiso, the third book. Interestingly enough, the 'Divine' part of the title wasn't until some centuries after the poem's publication. :D

@masterkill107 Well Kratos believes in a different god(s). If you die in GOW...you go to the underworld and thats it. In Dante's Inferno, you have two places to go, Hell and Heaven.

what i think makes this game unique is the fact that it is so fucking DARK. You could be going through the circles and seeing all this pain suffering and torture and in some cases i might force some players to look at themselves and think "fuck me i don't want to be a tortured soul" along with the fact you get to rip evil demons apart and it has the good or bad guy kinda thing to it :)
They could have made an artsy platformer along the line of SotC, but no instead we get this ridiculous excuse for a videogame. A generic hero with a plot that sounds like it was ripped from fanfiction(dot)net.

Unfortunatly I doubt there will be sequals. This game is contraversial as is, but the second parts of the Divine Comedy all revolve around a perfect Christian life. Especially Paradise, when Dante actually goes to heaven and meets up with God.
It wold be great if there were sequals, but either they won't follow the original story, or they simply won't be made.

Unfortunatly I doubt there will be sequals. This game is contraversial as is, but the second parts of the Divine Comedy all revolve around a perfect Christian life. Especially Paradise, when Dante actually goes to heaven and meets up with God.
It wold be great if there were sequals, but either they won't follow the original story, or they simply won't be made.

the name is Divina Commedia (The Divine Comedy I think is the right translation). A real masterpiece. Obviously it is quite different from the plot of the game... I'm afraid they spoiled it...
