Are you doing retail for a Japanese company? They're pretty brutal. Thankfully the retail job I do here in SF is very laid back for a Japanese company.

The whole "asian people are timid" thing are from the perspective of outsiders. If you fully grow up in an Asian culture it's a normal thing and they would see western culture or even latin culture as "overly extroverted."
