I love the film Mamma Mia because of the story and Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnon, Colin Firth and Julie Walters are a dream cast. I have loved Abba since I was six and I know that Mamma Mia change the meaning of this song, which was about the end of Frida and Benny's relationship in many ways, which was in deep trouble then.
Wirklich wunderschön, diese auch weniger bekannten Songs von ABBA. Ich bin mit ihnen groß geworden, ich mag sie schon so lange, wie ich sie das erste Mal gehört habe.
The Mamma Mia! movie doesn't quite live up to the challenge but I still think it was worth making, if only to make people aware of the great music of the 70s.
ABBA won't ever be played on the radio again - too much garbage now an radio - but ABBA won't be forgotten as long as there are still people who like to listen to great music.
@stevhalstead Not where I live on the westcoast. They either play this rap garbage or mexican folk music... the only station worthwhile to listen to is KPCC, which is a PBS station.
yes ABBA is a great band... but its wierd they only have 2 singing girls, 1 guitarist/singer, 1pianist/singer/guitarist....... but wheres second guitar, bass, drums??... i fel bad for the peoples that were playing drums and bass and all othere instruments but their names are forgoten, or have never been known.
Actually they have given credit were credit is due. I am a close relative of one of the musicians in question and he is still a very busy "professional-for-hire!" with a lot of wonderful inside stories that i've been fortunate enough to be told. That's one of the numerous reasons I respect and love this group.
@Listen2UselfNo1Else wow, really?? I´d like to know more (if you´re telling thruth), I´m like one of the most hardcore Abba fans and any inside story would make my soul jump with joy :D ..seriously
Can I just comment on Miren333, about the comment he/she left 1 month ago.
I must say, I do hope you realise that this was the orginal song, which was sung and performed by ABBA. You said that this songs kills it, and that Mamma Mia was much better??
There both extremely good. You've basically put Mamma Mia the movie as the orginal singers etc.
The singing and production, even sound engineering of the original ABBA albums are in a totally different league, artistically and emotionally than the Mamma Mia product.
The only (but important) contribution of the Mamma Mia musical and film is enabling a new generation to discover ABBA, one of the best combination of musicians in the 20th century.
@stefancev man, I couldn´t agree more! when I listened to the original Dancing queen and the Dancing queen from Mamma Mia, the DQ from MM sounded like a cheap karaoke..I still suspect B&B for recording the songs for MM purposely badly in order to highlight the qualities of the original ABBA! :D
Erinnert mich an eine unwiederholbare Zeit in Frankreich ....doch, wie heißt es so schön: "Erinnerung ist das einzige Paradies, aus dem wir nicht vertrieben werden können"...
wow! i loved the mamma mia movie version of it but now i see the original version i love this!! Fantastic job to whoever made this vid it really puts together the story of ABBA. I miss them i really want them to get back together :( they had some amazing songs!!
what actually happened to the band the reason they split up
they were two couples werent they anna n bjorn and frida n benny well the couples split up n then the band disintergrated the video shows it kinda look it up on wikipedia lol
Daniel, this is one fine video! Your friend did a great job with this. This is one song I don't hear very often. I gotta climb out from under that rock soon. Thanks for the post!
If anyone thinks that the A*Teens version is better then they should have been condemmed at birth, because without the Abba version they would not have had a song to ruin (I mean copy...NOT!!!)
This song was played in morning opening at my school a while ago. The sad thing is that principal kept the opening and his wife died to cancer 20 years ago. :(
HE HE HE! I WAS 8 YEARS OLD WHEN ABBA DISBANDED IN 1982!! OF COURSE I WAS ALIVE BUT UNAWARE OF WHAT ABBA REALLY WAS. I REMEMBER THAT SOME SONGS WERE VERY FAMILIAR TO ME, THAT'S ALL! lol!!
Wait a minute, you say you were born exactly 20 years after ABBA won Eurovision, meaning you were born in 1994, making you 13, but your profile says you are 17.
