Holtzer Cabot is an old name in motors. That fan looks like maybe a whole house fan, those were typically belt drive and meant to run pretty quiet. A lot of people use those in barns, shops and such now after they're removed from the house.
I'd replace that bent pulley, that'll eat belts and bearings.
You know when I was driving down the road, the wind was causing the fan to run! It reminded me of those boats they have that can hover above swamps that use a huge fan on them.
That's a big fan, and was quite a buy for 10.00, I amost expected your truck to take off by itself by wind power. I was at an estate sale yesterday in a large old 3 story house. They had a fan built in on the 3 rd floor that was about 5 ft tall.

Why do fans or fast spinning objects look like they're spinning one way then the other as they slow down?
FeeLtheHertZ 1 year ago
If it looks like its spinning backwards slowly=
Its because everytime your eye takes a "picture" The wheel ALMOST took a full rotation. It gives the effect its going in reverse.

hmm I would swap the 1/4 hp motor for either a 3/4 hp or 1hp motor.
mechanicwarrior20 2 years ago
I'd say it will be even quieter once you get it fixed up.

SpeedSwordCarbon 2 years ago
Thanks! The motor data plate has some grease on it so I couldn't see the RPM rating, I will need to clean it off to check.
