hi im srry i just logged on and saw your comments, if you see anything you are not sure feel free to ask, and the cosine equation works for one skater but since they collide u must also use the sine to get the true velocity. cosine and sine are use to give the angle of the new direction the skaters take after the collision.

hey you missed the 35 degrees N of E part. Velocity is a vector quantity soo you need speed and direction.
