  • I started watching this by accident. I was half dead and wankered after saturday night. I'd be trying to eat my dinner and this would come on. Sunday lunchtimes. I couldn't stop watching it i was hooked. Loved this programme so much and i'm female. None of my friends could understand me. Just loved it.

  • It's hard to believe this was the work of Go Nagai, the man behind such anime classics as Mazinger Z, Cutie Honey, and Devilman. X-Bomber/ Star Fleet was no doubt his answer to the works of Gerry Anderson.

  • You can now buy this Closing Theme Song and the rest of the brand new Original Soundtrack by original composer, Paul Bliss direct from the producer at starfleetsoundtrack(dot)com -- we'll have the full website up soon...

  • Garrick Hagon, the guy who voiced Captain Carter also played Biggs Darklighter, Lukes best pal in Star Wars Episode IV.

  • Absolutely loved this programme when I was a kid,

  • The Dai-X. See my other clips for what it can do...

  • what was the name of the robot?

  • @GeeTeeAge DAi X

  • Cool memories

  • Brings back fond childhood methods, the only guy I could remember was Dr. Ben, and I was sad when he died fighting the alien thingy

  • \M/ BIGGER THAN BIG \M/

  • aye this show was the bomb.. well x-bomber lol and look at trinis posting too. well I guess back then we just had ttt to look at , nice memories

  • Absolute class!

  • Oh, I remember watching this as a kid. This end title song was always the best part - I can still find myself singing it today! Thanks for sharing!

  • heheh I remember singing this as I walked to school a lot when no one was near me lol

This was the best kids show of the 80's easy!

  • I love this! I finally got my hands on the box set dvd for this series a year ago. Went upstairs first chance I got and didn't go back down until I had watched every single episode XD *hey, I hadn't seen it in like 15 years*

  • Star Fleet Terrahawks Captain Scarlet were the three most watched shows for me...Thunderbirds were okay, but Fireball XL-5 was cup of tea over them I guess.

  • It angers me SO much that this never became as famous as Thunderbirds! And I despise Thunderbirds!! Star Fleet deserves way more credit!

Hopefully they'll release an anniversary edition!

  • @boffinme80 yeah starfleet and terrorhawks!!

  • I vaguely remember this show, I was only little when it was originally on, 80s kids TV FTW!

  • Jeez this series was the best series i ever saw. everything about it was way ahead of its time. The music was beautiful & haunting, the story was compelling, the sound effects were the best and the graphics just perfect. Hairs on the back of my neck and dare i say i shed a slight tear in seeing this again.

  • Paul Bliss composed it and his mate Andy Brown sung the song. Loved this show.

  • @ian197325

"Paul Bliss composed it and his mate Andy Brown sung the song."

No, Andy Brown isn't the singer in this version. I have Bliss Band's first album and I could tell Paul Bliss' voice from a mile away. This is definitely sung by Paul Bliss. Perhaps Andy is helping harmonize the vocals but I'm not sure.

  • Hey, Paul Bliss was also in the short-lived, Steely Dan-inspired group 'Bliss Band' (in fact, Michael McDonald lends background vocals to the first track, 'Rio'). He later went on to play keyboards for The Moody Blues. It's amazing that I began by looking up info on the old British series 'Come Back, Lucy' only to wind up finding this clip! Looks a lot like Thunderbirds, except the mannequins in Thunderbirds are arguably some of the creepiest-looking ever, not to say this isn't but still...

  • Fantasic!!!!!!!!

  • I own the mini LP Starfleet Project since 1990 about and never realized it was a cover.

Congratulation to Mr. Bliss 'cause I love this song.

Cartoons title track were great in italy too on late 70's early 80's look around for "mazinga z" "jeeg robot d'acciaio" "babil junior" and many more

  • got this music album on cd it's fantastic ,already got it on phone in mp3

  • ahhh happy days ^_^..... thanks for posting ExcelsiorUK ;-)

  • brian may is paul bliss

  • Not true. Brian May decided to cover the song because he got into watching the show with his son.

  • Saturday's afternoons packet of pickled onion monster much a and watching Star Fleet. Oh the memories!!!!

  • yeah..then terrahawks sunday teatime

  • Fucking great show, excellent theme tune, I rented it off lovefilm a couple of months back and I loved it.

I sort of remember seeing it when I was little but I only remembered the ending theme.

80's shows are definatley the best, am I glad to have grown up in the 80's.

  • I always loved this track

  • possibly my favourite kids show ever, i loved watching this along with terrahawks nothing today comes close, thanks for posting, my trip down memory lane has been great

  • And yet it feels like I'm the only one who actually remembers this gem!

  • Well in my family, *I AM* the only one who remembers this.

  • @jezz2k They sound shit killem when they're fast asleep.

  • ooooo-ooooh! Only they can save us! Star Fleet! Star Fleet!

Growing up in Trinidad WI, no one dared bother us when Star Fleet came on the tele. The awesome sound track has always stayed with me.The 80's really rocked with sci-fi shows. Thanks for posting!

  • I remember watching this as a kid in Trinidad too, sometime around '85. :-)

  • @brassdr Wow a fellow Trini. I know exactly what you mean, this one of my favourite shows when I was young.

  • @eroo1973 this was my boy days right here lol

  • @eroo1973 Whaaaat another Trini remembers this show! One of the few non educational/talent shows we had back then (RickiTicki)!

  • Wow, that theme song popped in my head today, so I had to google it. And here it is!

This show was one of my faves growing up in Trinidad, W.I.

  • supersonic win!

  • Sunday lunchtimes...awesome!

  • Who would've thought this show came from the mind of Go Nagai?

  • Paul Bliss is such a talented writer and musician, and adds his keyboard genius to The Moody Blues.

  • The sound track CD (the original Paul Bliss score and THIS title music) is coming out next year - going to be a great year for STAR FLEET!

  • Mark Rolston did the voice for John Lee..? Thought that name rang a bell,he played Drake in Aliens and was Boggs in Shawshank Redemption..who never walked again.

  • Im going to sound really sad but the guy who voiced Barry Hurcules was the computer shop owner in Goldeneye.

    "14.4k Modem 500 Mb Drive"

  • Oh my God, it was wonderful growing up on this in the early 80's. Thank you so much for posting.

  • just for info sake..its was paul bliss who done the music to this not brian may ...cheers peeps

  • Its sad we don't live in a time where credits even get to play their ending themes anymore. :(

  • thats very true..well said

  • according to my dad i was a bit young to watch this when it was on but i was still allowed. i remember being scared of the imperial master oh the memories! this is defintly a dvd set im getting!

  • According to Amazon, the boxset has been put back until Jan 2009. What a shame.

  • Bit of trivia: Garrick Hagon, who did the Peter Fonda-esque voice for Captain Carter was also in Star Wars: A New Hope as Luke Skywalker's best pal on Tatooine, Biggs Darklighter.

  • Everytime I hear this I keep thinking someone's gonna make a Startrek AMV with it

  • Dvd boxed set????............ there is a god!

  • Fantastic . . . Watching this takes me back. I feel 10 years old again when watching this. Ahhhh, great memories. Certainly a dvd set I will be buying, even though I'm 37 years old.

  • Thank fuck for YouTube!! Talk about taking you back to being a kid, awesome!! Used to watch this on Sunday afternoons after a political programme that used to come on at 1, The X Bomber, total legend, have you noticed the dodgy bit in the song though, sounds like hes singing " To save ARSEHOLES!!" HAHA!!

  • A+++

  • What a show - I loved it and the DVD is out in June!

The way the boys form Di-X in those closing credits is simply awesome. Thank god I belonged the the generation which grew up wit, amongst other things, stuff like this.

  • Are you serious?!?!

they are bringing out the DVD set of this?!?

Oh i will SO be first in the line to buy it....

  • Saturday mornings in the 80's !! Wow !!

  • takes me right back!!!

  • wow great series and i remember watching this back in 1983 and its as good today as it was back then, way better than most of the crap on tv now!!!!

  • Great series and great songs.I ve seen them all when i was child. Could someone tell me were i can find the series to see them again?

  • Its scheduled for a 4 DVD release at the end of June ! Cant wait ! I've seen it at HMV under Star Fleet: X Bomber

  • I love this song. But Brian May sounded way better than the guy who sang in this clip.

  • Why can I remember all the words? ;)

  • Same here. Got the entire series on my hard drive :)

  • kakashi sensei love that show!!!

  • 1980 !!! Is it really 26 years ago that I tuned in avidly every saturday morning ?

  • Best theme tune ever....no contest

  • @walkerg79

Hmm... I dunno, so many great theme tunes from the 80's

  • @walkerg79 Joint with Terrahawks

  • @walkerg79 outstanding...total gob smacker.

  • ive got the complete series on dvd wey heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy this series was the best....

  • Highly catchy tune. This series rocked. I wish someone would have the brains to release it on DVD.

  • One of the best 80´s-series closing themes existing. =) And this one,by Paul Bliss,is great. Am not disrespecting Brian May (Queen was a good artist-group),but his version was far from good compared to this one.

  • This was a great closing theme tune - one of the best. I have a vinyl copy of the Brian May version - it was linked to the series, but his version was a cover version (as noted) to the one performed on the end titles - and the original is still the best ! :-)

  • i wonder if this guy doing the original liked brians version maybe the both met

  • Same here - the theme tune and end title song were cracking!! Brian May (he of the band Queen) sang the song. Its true. *sigh* where did the time go....

  • Not quite true. The song as heard here was by Paul Bliss, who did the incidental music to the show.

The Brian May song you refer to was actually a cover version of this. Though it seems they let them use clips from the series in his video, which can be found elsewhere on YouTube.
