This video is fantastic, but it's a bit ludicrous to suggest that Nick Cave got his idea about sound suits from this collective rather than to acknowledge the fact that Forcefield is appropriating rituals that are uncannily similar to those one might find in west Africa - a more likely source for Cave's inspiration - as well as Picasso's cubist paintings.......
I tend to believe that this is where Nick Cave got his idea for soundsuits. He stole it from Forcefield. Even the performance aspect of his suits. Proud to say I have seen these in their natural environment: 75 Eagle Sq. Providence.
That was by far one of the craziest things I've ever visually and audibly experienced. I love Lightning Bolt and Mindflayer and all those Fort Thunder bands, but MAN...this is crazy as fuck. I want a physical copy of this. Someone tell me where to get one, PLEASE.
hi i dont usually send comments but some kid told me to watch this and i have to say man i really dont get this stuff. is their any way you can explain it becaus e you seem to like it. i just dont know wha the hell it is i felat like i was dying or something when i listened to it.thanks
It's just a video of the band Forcefield, who do experimental Noise music, and make strange videos and art. It seems to be all in the name of bending what is believed to be "normal" or "acceptable" in the underground of art and music. At least, that's my understanding. Check out other related bands, Mindflayer, Lightning Bolt, and Black Pus. They are all very different and interesting. The reason you probably didn't like it was because you haven't gotten into it gradually like the rest of us.
Forcefield were doing these videos and knitting their costumes and pulsing their music years before the new crop of kids. 1bit is right, give it up for them!

I have this vhs. Miss those days. Wish I could go to the fort and walk through the fridge again and stare at all those bicycle parts in the entrance.
