@SuckItNewsroom: In that case i'd rather have the 1010F. I usually choose quality over looks or style. In this case i've got the 1219 because someone gave it to me and I use it for 78rpm records now. In my living room I have a Sony PS-X70. That's an entirely different league :)
Hi and thanks for the contact.I'm in Chile and most M91 needles I see on ebay don't say MD-G but only M91 though it looks as they'd fit this Shure. BTW, I could use other cartridge I have (Shure SC39ED which I used in my radio days) but this M91 sounds amazing.
Great video and nice version of the Spinners classic.I also rescued a 1219 but needle is broken and it doesn't seem to be easy to get this M91MG-D. Any info will be appreciated.I also wonder why my 1219 has no stroboscope except for one on the plate.
Not more than 20-30% of all record players has a stroboscope, so that's quite normal. My 1219 hasn't got one either. Getting a stylus for the M91MG-D is easy and cheap (about 12 dollars). Where do you live?
My father used to have a turntable like that, but when I was a little kid, I turned the turntable on. My parents did not know the turntable was running until a weird noise was heard. The turntable never worked again, as a result.
I might buy one to replace my broken 1234, and also to have the possibility to listen to old 78rpm records of which I have tons from someone who wanted to throw them all away... Sometimes, people just don't realize how something that is scrap to them can be a treasure to someone else.
A word of warning though if you are looking into buying a new stylus avoid the ones made by Shure in Mexico. I suspect you have one of the swiss made ones since it's got a grey black color. This one sounds close to the original. If you ever want to get the absolute best give a Jico SAS stylus a try, they are a bit more expensive and hard to find, but worth every cent as they perform even better than the original shure ones did.
I knew, but still thanks. I'd rather buy the original stylus. But since I intended to use this dual to play 78RPM records in the first place, this stylus probably will soon be replaced by a 78RPM stylus. Next to the Dual is a Technics SL-2000 which is waiting for it's Grado black to receive :).
Nice turntable you have there, possibly the best one Dual ever made. Got the same one with the same cartridge. I once saw someone on a forum claim the M91-MGD cartridge was only surpassed by the great Shure V15-III in it's day (early seventies).
I don't think so! That must have been the 704/721 which was sold (indeed) with the Shure V-15 III. You can still buy the V15 by the way. But it's far to expensive!
Still I must say that this 1219 is indeed a beauty!
Thanks for saving her;)

Personally, I prefer the 1019, not because its the best, because its a classic.
