refering to your " floor trap door ".There was a time when there was a "empty car switch" provided to allow the car to be called from the landings if the car gate had been left open by preveious passengers .But due to a spate of accidents due to faulty switch,s allowing car to move withgates open this was discontinued. Is this what the "trapdoor "realy was ,a false section of floating floor thatr would have had a switch mounted underneath to detect waight of passengers
