i had always wanted 2 see this place.the stories i had heard tho it was still relatively in tact and still had bed frames etc.thats when id have liked 2 have seen it.seeing it as it was before they tore it down im glad i never went i woulda been really disapointed.

Back when i lived a few blocks from there in the early 80s there were still metal bed frames still in the building. The blood presure monitors were still hanging on the walls too. That place was awesome to party in at night.

I used to go there in the 80's before the first demolition...the boiler room was scary but the weird rooms with the sloping floor and ceiling with the demon painted on the wall was the worst.

I last saw this in 06 but now a parking lot....crap.

there is a memorial there now. i saw it today... i also made a video of it. but yah, the old western state was much cooler and creepier.

Can't be haunted, when people got sick they were moved to the main hospital for care. These were just living quarters. No one ever died there. No lobotomies were performed there. No one was ever tortured in ice baths there. That all happened across the street.

@Str8OuttaOakbrook ok one..u got it all wrong..it was a dorm for the patients who worked on the farm there..which is what we call now ft. steilacoom park..and they never ever tortured people with ice..they had hydro therapy. no labotomies no nothing. i work at western state hospital as an MHT so i know more about the hil ward and the hospital than anyone else on this site that doesnt also work at the hospital

@ballztothewall69 I hate to tell this Chief but not only were lobotomies performed there. They also performed electro and insulin shock treatments at Western State. Do you know who Dr. Walter Freeman is? He started going through the eye socket instead of drilling a hole in the head. And yes, he did perform some of these surgeries at...you guessed it. Western State. No need to get your panties all in a bunch.

He is the Neurosurgeon that perfected the frontal lobotomy. At Western State. And if you look at your earlier post you did say that there wasn't any torture or LOBOTOMIES performed. Remember? You worked there as an MHT. They might not use those procedures today but they did at one time.
