I'd read that Gene Colan would pencil in grey areas as grey, rather than cross-hatches -- now I see that he actually did! Very idiosyncratic, I'm sure! Always enjoyed his fluid, dynamic style.

Gene Colon is one of the most brilliant comic book artists. I can look at his work over and over and never lose interest.

One of my heroes. I believe a lot of the modern action/superhero directors owe Gene more than a passing nod. Look at his fight sequences and then view some recent action flicks, you'll see a little bit of Colan in every frame.
