  • I live here. do not dig!!! go through the piles of tailings the biggest garnets I have ever found was in some one elses tailings piles!!! Yes the rhyolite rock is right. but you do not have to dig. Also try panning for them we found over 50 grams of garnets in one day off panning for them during the spring run off!! Good find though but there are much easier ways to find them

  • @nevadasparky79 ...Obviously nobody lives there. you see any houses where they're digging?

  • @MrBarelylethal I live in Ely you dink!

  • @nevadasparky79 exactly, not in the WILDERNESS near Ely. There's no law or common courtesy that says you can't hunt for Garnets where they were hunting. You're acting like a control freak.

  • thanks! thats very helpful info. We might attempt it one day I have family in elko.

  • Good job HH!

    Heavy Pans!

  • Thats cool. How much can you sell garnits for? Moreover, What are they used for? I have no idea what they are for... But that tailing pile with the mile long hole is something else.. Once again a very cool video and thanks for posting.

  • @jessgo33 Garnet is a gemstone that has been used for jewelry for thousands of years. Comes in every color except blue, but most are a deep red color. Value depends on size, color, clarity. I find them all the time while panning for gold, there small, but occasionaly I do find one of good size and clarity here in Arizona.

  • looks like it was hot out there lol did ya find a lot of garnets?

  • Its fun traveling with you because you do fun things! My vacation would be spent doing what your doing. lol.. Thanks! :)
