I am so glad that Jennifer Hudson was eliminated from AI with this song, because it showed how utterly pathetic the call in judging was. She took this Manilow song which is one of my faves, and absolutely brought it to another level. She might have tightened up a bit, but this is really one of those definitive AI moments. She went beyond AI at that moment, and I'm glad she was voted out with this performance, because all it showed was AI is a joke and real talent won't be recongized.

It seems the judges seldom give anybody a standing ovation on AI. For years, the judges on AI have blathered on endlessly about, "making the song your own." Yet, when someone does just that, as did Hudson in this performance; one would think the judges would have showered her with accolades. Instead, their critiques were positive, yet perfunctory. AI has run its course & is irrelevant. On the other hand, Hudson is an excellent singer & will be going strong long after AI has faded into oblivion.

The reasons the judges sat there is because they didnt want her to win really. everyone was already invested in fantasia. which is cool...lol cause God had more for Jenn. 5 years from now...theres gunna b 'where are idol winners now' ...and its gunna b pretty funny. but Jenn...is blessed and highly favored. The reason Jennifer was voted off was not because she wasn't good it was because that night there was a blackout in Chicago so we couldn't vote for her. And people also thought that the 3 divas were safe so other places didn't think she really needed alot of votes. But she's still a superstar.

This was a very unique and beautiful arrangement for Jennifer, and she should have never been voted off. She should of actually won the American Idol that year. I was so upset when she had to leave, because she continued to get better and better every week, and I looked forward to what she was doing next. LOVE HER! ! ! !

I had a big argument with my family because I told them that Jennifer was the best singer but they insisted Fantasia and Latoya were better. I couldnt understand how anyone could hear this voice and think anyone was better. They have now come around to my way of thinking.

She is one of the best artistes AI has ever produced and I am so happy that her elimination made her one of AI's best success stories.

The reason is because they were splitting the vote. It should have come down to Latoya, Fantasia, and Jennifer ... unfortunately they all three appealed to the same demographic so the vote was split and Jennifer and Latoya were voted off before their time.

except that barry manilow who wrote the song loved jennifer's rendition so much he invited her to sing with him the next day on the Today Show. jennifer put an r&b spin to the song but still retained its power and emotion. regine just sang the song pretty well (not great but well), nowhere near as good or original as this rendition sorry.

You coundn't be more wrong. Jennifer sang to the strength of her voice. Barry Manilow himself helped to arrange this & said that he couldn't do what she could with the song. He was almost speechless with pride and this is HIS song. Jennifer has a special type of voice which helped he to win her Academy Award & Grammy. Songs are subject to interpretation. I felt this version much more. She was the best singer on Idol and she should won. The only reason why she didn't is because God had better.
