@pointlessClips I am a fan of Chris Thile. Being a violin/fiddle player I know a prodigy when I hear one. One of the great ones for sure. That being said, I am critiquing only the performance of the Utube of the Bach Gm Presto. I understand what you are saying that it's better when you're there to hear a musician live, however there are many utube performances of this piece that show some wonderful interpretations (Hilary Hahn for example)
@bfidle1 It's hard when you're not live to hear how he dynamically shapes his music, but he actually does a fantastic job of it when I've heard him play this in person...
The comment was "This guy plays bluegrass?" And the response was "He plays bluegrass by choice."
I think the first commenter was amazed that someone as talented as Thile would play a type of music that some (perhaps the first commenter) would deem unworthy of the talent.
The second commenter had it right... Thile plays bluegrass because it's what he likes to play... not because it's what he has to play. And the world is better for it!
