That was sooooo beautiful! Every time I hear this song, it reminds me of my Mom. She used to play this album, all the time, when I was little. Thanks, for bringing back some beautiful memories. :-)
Sometimes when I listen to Dog and Butterfly, I hear it as I imagine an infant might perceive it. I picture in my mind the Dog and Butterfly, looking past them, yet seeing nothing else, deep in thought. I know that the children around you are mesmerized when they hear you sing this song.
Yah this is one of those songs that stretches your vocal range, similar to the national anthem, but even more difficult. Anybody who can sing it even half-way acceptable is pretty darn talented... and this is certainly more than half-way. Pro quality. Great job. I wish I could jam with you.
Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words!!!! For a difficult vocal range song, check out Mistral Wind by Heart--I just posted my version of it. Anne Wilson is still the reigning Queen of the female rock vocal.
wow! wow! wow!! u are seriously the best female vocalist i have ever heard who is not famous already, even then you are only second place to Ann Wilson...hehe WOW! Keep it up!
Yes, from Selbu and Trondheim. I've heard we took the name "Slind" from Slind lake when the brothers emigrated to Minnesota in the early 1900s. We were Seeverson or something before that, legend has it! LOL. Gundar et at emmigrated to Minnesota, then heading to Saskatchewan, Canada when homesteaders were being enticed by offers of free land.
You must be a relative. I didn't know there were any Slinds in Canada. There's a huge Minnesota branch of the family, and another in Washington State. Where do you fit into the family tree?
From what I understand, 3 brothers immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada and settled in 1908. Gundar, Ora, and Ole (I think). I am Gundar's grand-daughter. He married Tina and my dad, Sverre was their eldest son. He died in 1974.
Did your family come from Selbu? That's where all the Slinds in our family come from. When my grandpa and grandma emigrated in 1922, the joined many family members who were already here. They were wheat farmers in Washington State's Palouse country. Grandpa's brother and sister emigrated to Minnesota, and there are still many Slind descendents there, too.
I really love your voice and music. Just listened to your other songs, they're great too! I'm also a big fan of HEART and FLEETWOOD MAC / STEVIE NICKS.
Btw I think you look a little like Uma Thurman, has anybody mentioned that before?
