Mosquitoes actually evolved to avoid being able to be affected by DDT. In countries where malaria was present DDT would be sprayed on the walls and the mosquitoes after taking blood would land on the wall to digest and die. The problem with DDT was that it MAY (emphasis on may) have been bad for birds and fish. Research seemed to indicate that it was responsible for a thinning of the egg shells of some birds and fish species...of course the study was done on birds with an improper diet anyway. Michael Crichton had some interesting videos about it on youtube.
I thought DDT was developed during WW1 as an effective treatment against lice which soldiers in the trenches were afflicted with. I've seen original film footage of 100's of troops walking along a trench, a couple of guys stood on boards above them dumping bucketfuls of DDT on them as they passed underneath. Some of those soldiers lived to a ripe old age... I used DDT on cattle in the 60's...I feel fine!!

@robvhertz Have you ever thought of where the fossil fuels come from? Fossil fuels are mainly vegetation, animals and other bio-stuff, buried under the ground for millions of years. This means, that there was a time when these fuels were not fuels but vegetation, animals etc. And this, in turn, means that the carbon that built up these must have come from... exactly, carbon dioxide. My point is: there is nothing unusual about today's carbon dioxide levels in the history of earth.

Temp was also 3-6C hotter and ocean levels were 25-40m higher. (Science 4 December 2009: Vol. 326 no. 5958 pp. 1394-1397 DOI: 10.1126/science.1178296). Bring back the Miocene!!!

You see, the hot lava radiated all of it's heat to space and it cooled, solidified, and became "land". The carbon in organic life came from carbon dioxide through a process called "chemical reaction". That means it's a completely different compound. For example, polar bear populations are increasing (60 percent live on land, not ice!), the temperature DID drop during western industrialisation last century, ice cores DO show that temperature leads carbon concentrations, human contribution to the global warming effect really IS less than one percent. Mosquitoes actually evolved to avoid being able to be affected by DDT. In countries where malaria was present DDT would be sprayed on the walls and the mosquitoes after taking blood would land on the wall to digest and die. However, the few that were adapted to their environment, would fly away with their blood load without landing and the mosquitoes with this trait survived and reproduced making DDT effectively useless.

The problem with DDT was that it MAY (emphasis on may) have been bad for birds and fish. Research seemed to indicate that it was responsible for a thinning of the egg shells of some birds and fish species...of course the study was done on birds with an improper diet anyway. Michael Crichton had some interesting videos about it on youtube.

I thought DDT was developed during WW1 as an effective treatment against lice which soldiers in the trenches were afflicted with. I've seen original film footage of 100's of troops walking along a trench, a couple of guys stood on boards above them dumping bucketfuls of DDT on them as they passed underneath. Some of those soldiers lived to a ripe old age... I used DDT on cattle in the 60's...I feel fine!!

What he's not saying is the actual reason DDT was banned, because it is extremely harmful to the environment it's used in and was deemed ultimately more dangerous in the long term. There's arguments on both sides that make sense, I just think it's suspicious that he's essentially editing the truth. No rhetoric and just facts indeed.

How can BURNING something (oil), which releases heat, not make something hotter? I know that is a trivial way of looking at things, but I don't think nature ever saw the destructiveness of humans coming. You can bring up volcanoes, forest fires, etc, but those are NATURAL. The burning of fossil fuels is too much for earth to handle

@robvhertz Have you ever thought of where the fossil fuels come from? Fossil fuels are mainly vegetation, animals and other bio-stuff, buried under the ground for millions of years. This means, that there was a time when these fuels were not fuels but vegetation, animals etc. And this, in turn, means that the carbon that built up these must have come from... exactly, carbon dioxide. My point is: there is nothing unusual about today's carbon dioxide levels in the history of earth.

@azuritereaction How stupid can one be? Lava = molten rock. That's just a difference of state. The land mass of the earth still has the same chemical composition, however. You see, the hot lava radiated all of it's heat to space and it cooled, solidified, and became "land". The carbon in organic life came from carbon dioxide through a process called "chemical reaction". That means it's a completely different compound. Or in case you didn't know, freezing CO2 does not form animals.

@robvhertz its sad you cant make the simple connection a 2st grader could make between a carbon tax an petrol tax history. As soon as a goverment gets a tax it will do anything in its power too keep it, like the petrol tax meaning holding back technology. Fair call about the car weight was just an exaggeration i thought ud get the meaning cars were basically all steel an weighed alot more in the 70s. @robvhertz I really dont understand how you cant get this, i mean its history therefore its fact. The dirtier our country is with this new carbon tax the MORE MONEY THEY MAKE. just like the less fuel efficient a car is THE MORE MONEY THEY MAKE. So therefore if you support a carbon tax you support millions of people starving too death in 3RD world countries because a carbon tax jaks up food prices along with everything else, look at the big picture its A WORLD TAX going too a foreign owned bank!!

@robvhertz They do not strive to get rid of fossil fuels, they strive to benefit from our current dependency on them to impose a "carbon emission" control system and introduce world governance (i.e. world government). Having that system in place, the control over every individual on this planet will be total. If you want to get rid of fossil fuels, then be aware that you have joined the biggest enemy to that cause.

@robvhertz [continuation:] And if a world government is so very hyper important in order to fight the "climate threath"; why don't they have an exit strategy, i.e., a legal statement that forces that global governance to end when we've got rid of the fossil fuels? And most important, why do they focus on CO2-taxes, instead of strategies on leaving these fuels in the first place (like fusion, gen4 nuclear power plants, etc)? Wind power will solve nothing and is a scam in its own right.

I do not base my theories only on what Lord Monckton says (actually, I more or less realized much of this on my own). Anyway, if you'd honestly be interested in getting a sound view in this matter, you'd open your mind instead of dismissing all other opinions as paranoia.
