yeah, but where is the proof that there is no selfish gene? all behavioral, psychological, and social experiments point to the fact that there is. Doctor's argument boils down to: There is no human nature , because I say so!

I agree with his economical ideas, but you can't build them on BAD PSEUDOSCIENCE.

There may well be a "selfish gene", but the lesson here is that no matter what is or isn't currently hardwired; we have the intelligence to make informed and hopefully positive choices.

I don't feel like a "Natural Aggressor". Aye, I will do what it takes to survive. (my first of two jobs is a telemarketer) But I honestly feel like THAT is the unnatural state. Every time I [make a sale], I feel a little ill. Granted, there are other people out there who obviously fulfill "Natural Aggressor"... but maybe that is not the default blank slate ;) state for humans, just one of many end results.

@Vexblackheart I can agree with your overall statement in a less dramatic way. Humans have the propensity to be greedy when the environmental conditions that encourage this behavior are present (scarcity). That is to say without the supporting environmental conditions, the behavior will not manifest. As such, there is no human nature as the Doc has defined (behavior all humans exhibit regardless of external influence).

You fail economics forever. Economics is not a zero sum game: if wage slavery were the true reality of our economic system, then why/how do people like Chris Gardner exist. It is because of the greed and profit you despise that you have companies like google to host your tin foil hat videos. I do confess, however, that the way that you softballed your positions was expertly done.

Firstly, I think our economic system was required to get us out of the dark ages. All I'm saying is that we have outgrown it.

Second, regarding Chris Gardner. A few people getting lucky and hitting the big-time out of billions who don't is exactly why our current system has to go.

Great video, though I think you shouldn't have brought out the part of the corrupt financial system (the Loans/Interest parts), because people who haven't watched the movie won't be familiar with the concepts.

"Scarcity = Profit" is already a very good explanation for the greed based society that we have. The financial system is one example of that explanation, but bringing it up requires viewers to have foreknowledge of the subject.

If a child, at birth, was kept in a sensory deprivation tank and had no contact with anyone or anything other then machinery designed to keep them alive... what kind of mind would develop with nothing to be learned from interaction with the environment?

What I mean to say is: even if tendencies are hard-wired in our biology, the environment is necessary to nurture, encourage or suppress any behavior.

Without interaction with the environment there is no behavior.
