  • Yngwie's idea of "slow" is slightly warped

  • His "slow" is too damn fast for me LOL!

  • Incorrect! E Phrygian = A Aeolian minor, not harmonic minor!

  • @transtremm I look at it slightly simpler than that. E Phrygian is also the same as C Major. They have the same notes. C major is also the reletive major of A minor (yes it can also be called Aeolian), so from that point of view I agree with you E phrygian can't be a hamonic minor because you need the natural 7 not a flat 7. To get A harmonic minor I play C major with a sharp 5.

  • lmao slow my ass

  • I cant get over how much he looks like Michael Romeo... Oh wait, that's right, "MJR" is a CLONE! Yes, that's right, HE IS!

  • His sound is abysmal !

  • so that's it!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • his face at the end lol "yeah its just that easy"

  • wtf! slow down!! he do that shit on purpose!!

  • Sounds like The Faceless

  • What amazes me about yngwie is his VIBRATO! It is so beautiful!

  • He is an arrogant prick who is also a terrible teacher.

  • @TheLutzyboy2112 kkkkkkkkkkkk and you are a horrible student....sorry kkkkkkk

  • So the album is "Magnum Opus" right, Yngwie? ok.. just checkin..

  • ピッキングのが難しいよな

  • yeah, 5th mode harmonic minor IS NOT Phrygian. Phrygian is 3rd mode MAJOR SCALE.

  • The 20.480 I did it all. I clicked replay that many time and so far I got the intro of the first riff..

  • Ok honey I'm going to fuck you now, jdlksjflwsajdf;oljl;djflwjsadglfjalsdjljagfldfadsgjlajdgsljagf .You didn't feel that, I went in and out like a hundred times. I don't understand how you didn't feel that..

  • Thanks, It really helps me understand when you go a million fucking miles an hour.

  • I like thinking in modes so it helps to think of E Phrygian Dominant as the fifth "mode" of A harmonic minor :)

  • American tuning

  • To everyone saying that "oh this is too hard, this isn't a lesson".. if this is too hard for you, you aren't up to the task of playing like Yngwie yet. Take your time, learn the scales and the theory behind them then come back. Stop yer bitchin!

  • is that a song he played at the beginning

  • garbage,,,completely useless,,no wonder he has no hit songs,,,,,,sounds like someone tuning up and practicing scales..,,,absolutely no soul..how boring

  • @shmutzydawg

No "hit" songs? Is that all you care about? Then go listen to some Justin Bieber, you fucking poser. He has a lot of amazing songs with lots of soul. Check out his album Eclipse. The whole album is awesome. Tell me a song like Save Our Love or Dreaming (tell me) has no soul..

  • @shmutzydawg

    You are very ignorant!!

1st. Yngwie isn't trying to make a "hit song." Yngwie isn't mainstream!! He writes what he likes, he doesn't sell out or follow trends!!

2nd. Actually Rising Force, Marching Out, Trilogy, Eclipse etc... have sold many copies around the world!! There are many great songs on those records!!

Yngwie has helped shape modern rock guitar playing!! He is a legend and icon!!

    What have you done???

  • thank you mr. malmsteen...

  • why is he even bothering? this is not a guitar lesson

  • Fucker.. "Slow...". He's just fucking with us to be a dick lol and bc he's just that badass

  • How can someone play like that. Amazing!

  • WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a little mercy for the cripple and handicaped here!

play slowly, you cold hearted... :=*!? ...God :(

  • Harmonic minor is a flatted octave, i believe

  • malmsteen is not the greatest teacher but if you have some theory knowledge you will know what he his trying to say

  • lol he sucks at teaching

  • @thenamesfrancisco your just slow! take justin bieber lesson maybe this will be good lesson to you.

  • If you travel to the sun you can find his ego there

  • yayy i can finally play his crap x)) dont worry guys you all can do it :)!

  • You know what hurts most? You know exactly what he plays, and you just can't play it because it's so fast. You understand his theory and you still can't use it.

Ex 21 is his 14-10-12-14-12-10 lick (or whatever - same pattern).Ex 23 is a group of 4 pattern.Ex 24 is not even that difficult.Ex 25 can be heard in Blitzkrieg (kind of).Ex 26 is a pedal note lick.Ex 27 is similar to the typical pedal note lick stuff he uses in Echo Etude.Ex 31 is his trademark diminished arpeggio run from Krakatau etc.

  • @GuitarFretMan hey what's that pattern at ex 22? he says the scales but he repeats some notes and i cant figure it out because he doesn't play that part slow :(

  • @Uchiha3303 That's his famous run on the high e-string.17-16-13-12--16-13-12-10--13-12-10-8--12-10-8-7--10-8-7-5--8-7-5-4 and last note 5 with a vibrato (that's also the root note of the scale). It's A harmonic minor/E phrygian dominant.

You can find this run for example in Flamenco Diablo.

  • @GuitarFretMan oo ty so much dude you helped me alot :) and i checked the song out flamenco diablo never heard it before and it was really good, also heard that in the song like u said, thank you :)

  • @Uchiha3303 You're welcome!

  • What the fuck. His slow is like 140 BPM.I could play it if I tried hard...The rest is a BITCH!

  • it's like a guitar lesson essentially

  • Man he's always been a poor teacher with zero patience with his YouTube students, gee! Gotta admit though, he still cannot be duplicated..

  • okay okay okay!! now repeat everthing you played but play it 1oo times slower kay? :D

  • his fingerss has its own brain that do not obey comma

nd or its just cant comprehend the word slow..ahaha

  • Simple? Logical? In a Malmsteen video? Fuck me.

  • 2:18 i was like cool it's going to be slow, I CAN DO THIS.

    2:20 i was like fml.

  • The greatest guitarist I know, I just wonder if we can call him just guitarist or genius, he is really over the guitar world, we can try to approach his playing way that's all we can do. We shouldn't compare him with other guitarist, everyone has his own technic, he is just upper the other and there is nothing people can do to change it. You like or you don't like his style of playing but criticise him is just stupid and steril. Respect all the styles, you're not oblige to listen to him. Peace!!

  • all it takes is prac them for like 10 years and i should be fine

  • all his secrets are out for the majority of his instrumentals lol

  • At around 6:50 When he says every note is a Minor 3rd interval, does he mean that the all the notes are a tone apart? Like you do one notes then skip a note and play the next one after that? Is that what he means?

  • @MeetyHam

The diminished arpeggios consists of only minor 3th intervalls. Example: B, D, F, G#

Just playe each note three frets further and you are fine.

  • his guitar is the perfect serious and understated guitar. Its design is the most traditional in electric guitars (and if not *the* most traditional, at least one of *the* most traditionals). Why can't he dress in a similar fashion? Why does he wear golden chains and all that? It's like going to a very good restaurant, ordering a perfectly prepared filet mignon which has been destroyed by cheap premade barbeque sauce. Why does he have to make his appearance so kitsch?

  • @tsirosgoddammit so i take it that you look like your guitar?

  • @Ozznize simple elegant and serious? yes.

  • @tsirosgoddammit cool man. gotta be honest though you sound like a moron so i suggest that you wont open your mouth in public places, unless you want that "simple elegant and serious" charade of yours to crumble down.

  • @Ozznize what would we do without beacons of intellect such as yourself. we should be erecting monuments in your honor.

  • @tsirosgoddammit ah yes yes or without elegant beings such as you. however i never was here saying things like "oh i am such a shining figure that i cannot walk on the shores of seas in nighttime so that ships wont mistake me for a lighthouse"

however the same thing doesn't quite apply to you now does it?

  • @Ozznize yes, because that is exactly what i said.

  • @tsirosgoddammit there doesnt exist a single elegant human being in the world who actually says that he is elegant. simply because it is the opposite

  • @Ozznize ah the no-true-scotchman-argument, mutated. What else have i come to not be, on account of me reckognizing it?

  • of course he is arrogant. he's Yngwie.

  • god, he's an arrogant douche

  • HD? whoa...

  • I think he means Phrygian Dominant at the beginning when he plays the Phrygian mode on the high e. Just so nobody gets confused.

  • @Drazzirg whats the difference its sounded the same to me?

  • @NintendoSinceBirth1 You won't hear the difference unless there is a chord underneath. It's actually the chord you play over that defines the scale/mode. For example if I play A minor over C major it'll sound like I'm playing in C Major and will sound happy. If I playthe same thing over an A Minor chord it will then sound very Minor and sad. The backing chord is everything.

  • @Benjiinsanity the chord is important but i think the starting note and the "character" note of the scale is more important

  • @NintendoSinceBirth1 Starting note can be important, but I'd say 'character' is defined by the chord but cuz that's what tells your ear weather it's major or minor. Also the rythym of the chord and the notes you're using in the solo will define the character. I personally think the scale always gets far too much credit and the chord underneath doesn't get the recognition it should. Just my opinions. In the words of Tommy emmanuel 'it's the note against the chord.'

  • @Benjiinsanity i mean character note as the note thats different in each scale like dorian had the major 6 and phrygian has the flat 2, the note that really stands out in each scale. but how you recognize scales is really all preferance whether its by chord or note by note

  • @NintendoSinceBirth1 But don't you see all those things are defined by the chord. A dorian is the same notes as G major. Play A Dorian against G major and it'll sound like G major. If you play G major scale OVER A minor chord then all of a sudden you have the A dorian sound and not G major. I relate every mode back to a major scale it's just the way I personally go about it, in my view it's the simplest way. works for me but I understand it might not for others.

  • @Benjiinsanity yeah your way definatly makes sense and is easy to understand but i just view it differently, its how i learned

  • @NintendoSinceBirth1 the beauty of the guitar mate, everyone finds there own way of understanding and doing things.

  • @Benjiinsanity when they say music theory they mean it!

  • Dear god... O.O I AM NOT WORTHY!!!! :( I shouldn't even touch my guitar.
