i like at 1:12 she turns her hands palm up to withdraw.i am adding some of what she does to my minimal yang tai chi practice since i spend most my time with bagua.
omigosh!!!! thank you so much, I was practicing this form months ago when I stopped because of studies. I have forgotton some of movement and now i can practice again. Thank you so much.
Try this. 1commence. 2mane. 3stork. 4brush knee 5.chop. 6punch. 7app. close up. 8whip. 9pipa. 10rep. monkey. 11fair maiden. 12needles. 13fan. 14cld. hands. 15Grasp bird's tail. 16close Note: those done left and right and cloud hands are one movement. Ward off, rollback, press, push (grasp bird's tail to both sides) count as 1 movement Not an "official list" but should work for you. This is a wonderful "standardized" form for learning and teaching the basics.
This is an excellent idea for you. Cross hands and close is a perfectly valid alternative also. " The value of a clay pot lies in its emptiness." May your path be blessed.
Six generations of yang family and numerous brothers teaching means diversity. "Technically", the movement is 2 steppings and two postures: step right, chop and step left, punch. Move intecept and punch. Step forward, deflect downward, intercept and punch. Step right, chop then step left, parry and punch.
I find the latter helpful for beginners. Be in peace.
This was excellent. This is exactly as we did it in our class. Nice start for beginners to see what this is about. The fluiditity makes it look easy, but it is harder than it looks at first. Strength and balance are increased more than one would think by this art. Beautifully done...her style is perfect.
Very nice, thank you!

Pay attention:
1) It isn't Yang 16 form, but China Government 24 form
2) It isn't a Yang family Traditional Form but only inspired to Yang Style.
If you want very Yang Family forms, look for "Yang Jun", 6th Grand Master of Yang Family.

@ROMA13561, you are wrong. For starters, the brush horses mane is done 3x in 24 form and 2x in the 16 form. Pay attention yourself.

Chop and Punch are technically one movement called "Chop Parry and Punch" are we to separate this for the 16 step?
criptopus 2 years ago
I'd alter it to chop parry and punch and put cross hands in.
