@1998ben98 - Burned movies will play on a non-flashed drive just fine. This video is for people who want to play burned GAMES on their 360, something flashing is required in order to do. Burned games can't be played on a non-modded 360 for piracy reasons.
If you want to play burned games then I highly recommend finding out the drive you have & see if you can go about flashing it (how hard it will be to flash it depends on the drive type you have).

@thehitnah - If you simply hook it up to the 360, no. You will have to get the key from the original drive & inject it into the new drive before it will work. However, I would recommend doing this if you plan on using XBL as there is a good chance you'll get banned.

It depends on the sata's bandwidth, clearly you wont be able to with a first gen sata. But its not uncommon for 3.0(6Gbit/s) to be found on motherboards without adding a pci card. So, yes it is possible but not recommended if you dont know your spec's on your PC's motherboard.

I flashed my Xbox 360 NTSC j and i played black Ops it ran very well, few days back for the first time i connected xbox to live and updates few games as updates appears after sign in to live, as a result i noticed few of games(copied game) have stopped running which were running previously after flash. so my Q is do i need to flash my xbox again? mostly i play copied game, my Black ops wont run but other copied games run.....what could be the issue?
@babamaal - More than likely, yes. What firmwire were you on? If you're on Ixtreme 1.6 (or anything before) then you're looking at having to re-flash. And if you are on that then I'd suggest not using any backups on live until you re-flash to the latest firmwire as Ixtreme 1.6 isn't safe on XBL anymore.
@6587567651 You are right. i asked the vender and he also suggested u need to re-flash it and if you go to online XBL...that will ask you to update ur system and dont play backups. Here in India game dvd are 5000/- each damn expensive. so not much help seems around. hope a new crack will come soon :)

When i said it's a Toshiba drive they said they can flash it, but when they found out it's a samsung one, they said they can't. Is there supposed to be any difference?

@o0julek0o Certainly you would just sign on and update your Xbox by accepting the Terms of Agreement, just as you normally would with any Xbox. Again; you will be able to use Xbox Live as you normally would. Chances are you will get banned though. From my experience it's always around November through January. Get it? It's around the Holiday's Seasons where many big titles and games are developed that will most of the time have new firmware and wave checks.

I need to clarify something. People have a misconception that in order to flash your firmware you have to "hook your 360 up to a computer." The only part of the 360 that is being affected by this modification is the DVD drive. You are connecting your Xbox 360's DVD drive to the computer.
Back to the question. It all depends on which brand of DVD drive you have. If it's a Lite-On, then you almost certainly need the CKv4. The VIA6421a SATA PCI card is also highly recommended.

@kongakonga You can but its WAAAAAY easier to find a drive of the same model and switch the original circuit board inside the dead drive to the new drive. The circuit board contains a "fingerprint" of sorts called a DVD Key. It will not work with any other Xbox 360 console, the DVD key must match the CPU key. There are mods out there which allow for this but it's not exactly simple.
I flashed my xbox a year ago and i'm using a boot disk with a firmware called 1.60 or something like that. I use stealth cd's 2 so is there now i use stealth cd's no possibility that i get banned?

@matarert - Phillips drives don't exist in ANY retail consoles. BenQ's, on the other hand, are common & very easy to flash.

Excuse me, and sorry for sounding like an idiot. I have the Toshiba-Samsung one, and everyone i know paid a store to flash the firmware. When i said it's a Toshiba drive they said they can flash it, but when they found out it's a samsung one, they said they can't. Is there supposed to be any difference?

@o0julek0o Certainly you would just sign on and update your Xbox by accepting the Terms of Agreement, just as you normally would with any Xbox. Again; you will be able to use Xbox Live as you normally would. Chances are you will get banned though. From my experience it's always around November through January. Get it? It's around the Holiday's Seasons where many big titles and games are developed that will most of the time have new firmware and wave checks.

- with a modchip
- by flashing the dvd-drive firmware (the one described here and probably the easiest as don't need to do make any hardware changes)

I need to clarify something. People have a misconception that in order to flash your firmware you have to "hook your 360 up to a computer." The only part of the 360 that is being affected by this modification is the DVD drive. You are connecting your Xbox 360's DVD drive to the computer.
Back to the question. It all depends on which brand of DVD drive you have. If it's a Lite-On, then you almost certainly need the CKv4. The VIA6421a SATA PCI card is also highly recommended.

@kongakonga You can but its WAAAAAY easier to find a drive of the same model and switch the original circuit board inside the dead drive to the new drive. The circuit board contains a "fingerprint" of sorts called a DVD Key. It will not work with any other Xbox 360 console, the DVD key must match the CPU key. There are mods out there which allow for this but it's not exactly simple.

I flashed my xbox a year ago and i'm using a boot disk with a firmware called 1.60 or something like that. I use stealth cd's 2 so is there now i use stealth cd's no possibility that i get banned?
