Peyote is a much more exotic psychedelics. You can get mescaline from San Pedro, but it's a lot harder on the stomach than eating straight peyote buttons.

I agree it does portray him as hypocritical , but I think the show recognises that one can't bundle all drug use together as the same kind of action. He didn't care so much about Adriana's cocaine use, AJ's marijuana smoking or taking peyote himself as he did about Chris' heroin addiction because the former didn't have such a vast impact on their lives. t explains why he only chokes Chris when he notices the branch sticking through the kid seat, highlighting the potential harm of the addiction.
the only reason tony gave a crap about chris's heroin addiction was that it made chris vulnerable to law enforcement, and thereby made tony himself vulnerable. as for killing him, he later admits to dr. melfi that killing chris corrected the biggest mistake of his life. he may have used the child seat thing as an excuse to act impulsively at that moment.

I agree it does portray him as hypocritical , but I think the show recognises that one can't bundle all drug use together as the same kind of action. He didn't care so much about Adriana's cocaine use, AJ's marijuana smoking or taking peyote himself as he did about Chris' heroin addiction because the former didn't have such a vast impact on their lives. t explains why he only chokes Chris when he notices the branch sticking through the kid seat, highlighting the potential harm of the addiction.

the only reason tony gave a crap about chris's heroin addiction was that it made chris vulnerable to law enforcement, and thereby made tony himself vulnerable. as for killing him, he later admits to dr. melfi that killing chris corrected the biggest mistake of his life. he may have used the child seat thing as an excuse to act impulsively at that moment.

@martaaan Huh? Tony is the biggest hypocrite imaginable. Tony would be pissed off at Chris because he was DOING drugs as well as because Chris was an addict. But first and foremost, he was pissed off at him for DOING drugs.

So very well done; time compression, segmentation of hearing reception, communications from the 'Higher Power', all manifestations of such drug use... I studied this in a psych class, and the descriptions seem similar to what I imagined.
