  • Nice vid, i gotta question. I have a stock my00 wrx with only upgrades being 3" TBE, Upgraded fuel pump and a ecutek 1.5 tune. When and if my stock turbo ends up dieing what parts do i need to buy in order to install a vf34? Obviously i'll need the vf34 turbo, but what else is needed to ensure the car runs smoothly without any hassles? And as you may have thought i wont be the one installing haha, i'll get dad and some mates or my mechanic to help out :)

  • @kutchabo The main things you will need for this upgrade are higher flowing injectors (mainly STI 550-565cc's), and a re-map of your fuel, timing, and boost settings. You already have an upgraded pump so you can skip that. Also, depending on what clutch you have now, you might want to get away from a stock unit as the VF34 will burn it out quicker than your stocker.

  • How much did you get the 34 for?

  • @Da1RiSiN1sMoKe 10 hours of doing an FPGreen, injector, and clutch swap on a WRX wagon. In other words, free. Only to beat the very wagon that I got the VF34 from, with the FPGreen I helped install. I wish I had caught that on video then. FWD does help alot.

  • Nice video!

  • It's a SOHC 12v head though with an open differential and horrible torque steer- FWD too. Stock they make 145hp and 190 tq. My last dyno was 233hp and 343 tq. I'll be using the VF39 CHRA but the P20 exhaust housing.

Check out- add and subscribe to youtube. com/ProjectCarTV if you're interested. I'll be doing the build over the summer. I'm on NASIOC as SixSick6.

  • Cool. Yeah I was asking you because I have a VF39 that I'm going to be using on a 2.2L Mazda engine. Mine is a stump puller (lots of torque) and has an 86mm bore with a 94mm stroke. The bad part is that it has a 12v sohc head. One thing that I'll be doing though is using a VF22 P20 exhaust housing. The difference between the P18 (VF30, 34, 39) and P20 (strictly VF22) is similar to a .48 and .63 from Garrett.

  • @TwitterApplets I'd rather you go with the VF22 for a 2.2L. The extra displacement will push the P18s to max very easily. The VF22 will feel more at home for you.

  • @TwitterApplets If only you had a 16V head, it'll help alot with overall spool and power on the P20 housing.

  • What RPM did you notice difference between the 39 and 34?

  • @TwitterApplets If you're talking about just spool during cruise, the VF34 can be heard at 2300 rpm on my tune compared to 2750 on the VF39. When hammering it down, full boost is achieved at 4400 rpm on both turbos but the VF34 hits harder and gets there a bit faster.

  • 18 wouldnt have turbo pistons, wouldnt it melt or some shit like that?, good job bro

  • very nice

  • Very nice, looks good! I just put a VF39 on my wagon, but I'm rather missing the TD-04, the spool time on the 39 is a killer... Btw, do yourself a favor and get a silicone inlet. Pain in the ass to install, but as soon as I did it with my TD-04, I got loads of torque back and even quicker spool!

  • i opened up alot of room under the intake manifold, but not enough to fit a larger diameter silicone inlet. thanks for the input.

  • hey man hows it like with the new turbo? I got my s truck runnin agin.goin to start on the impreza next.

  • fuckin' kicks ass!! spools earlier than the '39 and keeps going to my 6000 rpm redline.

  • alright cant wate to see the vids.

  • should be coming soon...

  • Gahhh, I can't wait. I'm swapping in a EJ22T block with my 22E heads. TD04 turbo, FMIC,

  • hey you too. nice kill with the evo IX. lol

  • Awesome Joe! 5 stars !

  • very nice video, well done.
