That was a great band, I saw them live in 1989 and it reminded me what a great BASS player Stanley Clarke actually is, just playing great solid basslines as a part of the rhythm section without any of that 128th notes "lead bass" and "piccolo bass" crap... Stewart Copeland proved he was still the greatest pop drummer in the world, and Deborah wrote some really great songs on both of their albums... Pity they didn't have as much succes as they deseved...
Rip off of a classic country song. Obviously the music is different......so are the words. But it's still sort of the same idea. Still like this band though.
This was a project set up around Deborah Holland as a singer/songwriter, that's why the focus on her. Stanley & Stewart felt strongly enough about her songwriting to back her. Not a one off either - this is from their second and last record. Maybe not too far off on the "off from her day job as a librarian" comment though. I think she was making her living as a piano teacher? Anyone?
I saw Animal Logic at the Paradise in Boston. Stewart broke a stick by using the sole of shoe and it went flying past my friend's head. First time seeing Stew live, up until this summer with the Police.
Incredible to see them on Television! I love Animal Logic, I came to them through Stanley, as he is one of my biggest influences as a musician. Little did I know when I ordered there first rectd that Animal Logic would be come one of my favourite Clarke projects, and it made me a fan of Deborah and Stewart too!
Hah...amazing...Deborah should be thrilled...well happy anyway...to see this one and There's A Spy are up and alive. I'll be sending her this link in a sec. This was the very, very late "big band" version of Animal Logic. Yow. Such a killer tune too.
Deborah Holland is just amazing...better than ever now even...what a voice...and more.
Excellent!!!!!! I'm a huge Stewart Copeland fan and have been searching for TV footage of Animal Logic for YEARS. I almost saw them live in DC, back in 1989, but they cancelled the show days before the scheduled gig. I remember seeing them on TV back in '89, but I've never been able to locate any live footage until you posted this great clip. Thanks a million for posting this!! This is great archival stuff for Copeland and Clarke!!
Oh my god ! thanks man. Just f#ckin great! And am i going mad is that Raymond Gomez on guitar ???!! I think he is thats amazing!! thnx man keep 'm coming, much appreciated!
Yeah, kinda looks like Ray. Not for sure though. I'm looking through all my stuff, but I think thats all the video I have. I do have a few live audio tracks though..promos from IRS at the time
Hee skinbass. It is ray, i just compared to an old '70-ties vid and its him allright!! lol. Well i thnk you for all the Animal Logic you can find, heck if you'd put live recordings without video footage i would till watch,or better listen.
This band to me now and at the time was "Oh look it's Stanley, Stewart, and some girl who thinks she's a star"

apparentley the producer didn't have a clue who Stewart Copeland was. Wasn't on camera for more than 30 sec.

Imagine the jams that these guys did during rehearsal when the singer was taking a break.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
What a complete waste of Copeland and Clarke's talent. This proves awesome musicians can make crap music.

This group is ok, but I sort of wish the music focused on the talents of Stanley and Stewart rather than the vocals.

Another Police? What's wrong with you???
NotOrdinaryInGames 3 years ago
Police? I was implying music more along the lines of jazz fusion.
