its different but I like it... I feel in love with womans work and checked out her other ones... I like this and I love the story telling in the video makes it "unique"... :)
My dance class performed this in our summer program, and I was the girl who wore the red shoes, and I had to be on point the whole time. My feet hurt so bad afterwards...
Kate Bush is awesome I agree with all of you on that, but seriously stop bad mouthing GaGa. Does saying mean things really make you feel better? If it does then wow. What GaGa spreads is love, unity, and peace not bad mouthing other artists. Maybe you guys should try it sometime.
@lilm818 yes and she said she did the cover of "Don't Give Up" so more young people would know who Kate is. in my opinion anyone who wants to spread the message of Kate is good.
I just love the practical effects in her videos! WAY more entertaining then the biggest, brightest, sterile CGI effects we're sadly inundated with nowadays :-(
@theblocksays I have no problem with CGI, I like non-CGI methods that's for sure, but there are some things that cannot be done without it, so it depends on what you are going for, I think. CGI in and of itself is not bad. Plus NOT all new videos are full of CGI, I can think of more than a few that don't have any, or minimal.
I love it the eccentricity... the surreal analogue effects... the mixture of the swinging folk string-rhythm with the straight forward drum rhythm... the melodies... the theme I can't take seriously at all, but I love it!
@DerrickthePinecone Kate's never made any secret of the times she's lifted stuff right from literature and/or film. There was no pretense that it wasn't directly inspired by the movie; she was up front about it. Not a bad attempt at snark, but you fail.
@Qolus Hm. The fact that you even took my comment as being "snark" proves to me that you are clearly misunderstanding and/or assuming that of which you have read from me. In no way was my comment made to be "snarky" or negative or taken in a rotten light, but instead was a mere observation, a mere compliment. Okay, so she wasn't inspired by the film. Big deal! Do I care? No. Does it still remind me of Powell's film? Yes. The only failure here is your lackluster assumingness.
I think Gaga would bitchslap you writing that! Educate yourself about music before you expose your ignorance so clearly. Lady Gaga owes Kate for paving the path for her.
I always loved this song. I am particularly fond of this video work which goes so well with this track as well. Kate Kate Kate!!!!!!!!!! <3
