my Granny used to tell me that she would look out of her window at night and see the black and tans executing people beside the Grand Canal. Scary stuff. It's amazing these days to see the Brits still fighting imperialistic wars in the Middle East. The invasion of Iraq in 1917. And their lost war in Afghanistan in 1842, by agroup called......the Talibs.
trollfinger - the Irish have far bigger things to worry about than the invasion of Iraq in 1917.
Things like fact that Brian Cowen and his cabal of thieving scum have DESTROYED Ireland's economy, while the property developers are being given bailouts instead of being put in handcuffs.
The English did lots of terrible things. I don't deny that for a moment. But you're so busy bitching about us, that you're overlooking the crooks who are fucking Ireland into the ground today.
I agree to a certain degree, but you can't expect a country that was never allowed to speak her loss that has been released from 800 years of what most would call slavery to just hop up and have everything perfected right away. Mistakes are bein' made, true, but she'd be better off, as paddy said if 26+6=1....
What does that mean, paddy? Ireland has already squandered the greatest economic boom in her history. The Celtic Tiger is dead, replaced by a bankrupt state ruled by unelected Eurocrats ( thanks, Lisbon voters ).
The nation-wrecking fuck up of the last 15 years cannot be blamed on England. It's time for the Irish to take some responsibility for a change.
I'm sorry sir but people are not going to forget all the innocent lives that were lost to murder. No matter how badly the English want to ignore how much grief they've caused to the world. Northern Ireland must be returned to it's rightful government and a new reform needs to take place.
Also, mass immigration to Ireland must come to a halt and Ireland's culture will soon flourish once again.
What about those of us who were born in the US that would like to go back to their ancestral homes and be reunited with the family they have there. I see where you might argue that mass immigration is a problem, but I don't want to live and die in a country that hated my grandfather and his people...
yes it is. Self-mockery, sarcasm and a sense for understatement was not uncommon for Peadar Kearney. In the song The Row In The Town for example he compares the Easter Rising, in which he had participated, with a row in the town indeed.
I hate it when American Irish think they have a reason to give a shit about the IRA and shit. That just seems stupid to me.
I'm German American, myself. Point is, you don't see me giving a shit about what goes on in Germany or the Nordic Countries?
Not relevant, but a rant. I had a bad day, mmkay?

Fuk me we really need to hand Ulster over to the Irish, give them a civil war to deal with while they're skint! Let them make a song about that!

Your "day will come"?

Not many people are blaming England for the mistakes of current Irish politicians.
Our day will come when 26 + 6 will finally equal 1

If you can't tell this song is sarcastic you don't deserve an opinion on Irish republicanism or anything else that requires more than one brain cell.
