  • is there an advantage to a curved deck on carriers, ? im from u.s.a. and i dont remember our navy ever using them even in the 50s

  • @13jam100 i don't think so, they have this ramp as a way of not using catapults like they do in american carriers. I think they do it to add more space to the ship, since catapults take up a lot of space, us carriers can do it because they are very large and are nuclear powered. Me personally i prefer catapults.

  • I have the same question...why a powerless airplane than Su33 ???

  • @mauricioalfredo83 Guess because its not all about power? See other characteristics...Also Mig carries only 1ton less of weapons than Su but it is lighter for 8500kg at maximum load!!!

  • Will this one substitute Su-33 in Russian navy? Why use a less powerful plane instead of a new Sukhoi' s version?

  • At 0:41, is that an Astroscan®?

  • The ship isn't really underway, it seems to be turning at about 5 knots, or so head way ?!!! the MiG-29K, seems also to be devoid of any weapon system on the exterior of the plane. Let's try this at night, like a real Aircraft Carrier, does during flight operations. This is just a test, perhaps to show that it does work?!!

  • Nice Trap! OK pass!

  • Nice Trap!

  • Mig 29K has same bubble canopy like the 2-seat version (KUB), but with fuel tank (?) in place of the other crew member

  • Is this a 2-seater?Or these are UBs?

  • just a amazing plane india should be happy with it way better then sea what it got now . russian are the best

  • just a amazing plane india should be happy with it way better then sea what it got now . russian are the best

  • @MrNemesis888 ur right bro they will beg america to fuck them in ass and save them from our MIGS.

  • mig 29 such an amazing bird!! always liked them

  • @budmanuk It will be good for A2A work, but without a catapult it won't carry ground munitions.

  • first india will have 45, then around 60......and total tally in future of 145+.......gr8...thanxxx......brother russia!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can the mig29k take off when fully armed? cuz i heard the su-33 couldnt..

  • @SMJeOma

no plane using the ski jump type carrier can take off at full weight. either you have to give up some weapons or give up some fuel.

  • @916ppl Iraq had their MiG-29s delivered just 2 years before the outbreak of war in 91. They didn't have access to the 29s most potent weapon the AA-11 (R-73). They instead had to rely on outdated AA-8 and AA-10 missiles. Had the Soviet Union sold the R-73 to the Iraqis they might have had an advantage against the F-15 in a dogfight. Still at least the MiG-29 hasn't suffered the embarassment of being downed by an outdated 1960s design, like the Hornet that was downed by an Iraqi MiG-25.

  • RUSSIA No.1 !!!

  • @MrNemesis888

i'm sorry to say but migs were designed for people who have balls. you can get all the migs you want but since you guys don't have balls to fly em its a waste of money.

you pee in your pants when you see what 1 pakistani fighter pilot can do to 10 of you. :)

    -facts.

  • @crazyassfreak u seem to be living in other world .we fucked porkis with our MIGS in 1965,1971,and kargil and taked 98000 porkis captive in 1971 largest pow ever in war history.so definately we have the balls but porkis lost the balls.mind it porki

  • no need for catapault!! just whack it in full afterburner!

  • Damn, those are some big flaps.

  • @916ppl su-47 based on eurofighter? joke of the century

  • its built for india and russia

  • Great fighter jet! I always loved the MiG-29 series of jets. Hope this will deliver death to pirates/terrorists etc that have become enemies of not just Russia and India but all of humanity.

Thanks to a reliable friend and a trusted partner like Russia, we've been exposed to latest technology of warfare in every generation with no strings attached. MiG, you're AWESOME!

  • @916ppl Comparing Iraq vs USA+ NATO is just like saying India will fight Georgia who's now armed with latest Western equipment. The end result would be Georgia becoming 32nd state of Indian empire in 2 hours. Does that mean that Western equipment is inferior?

Same way, the only advantage F/A-18 has till date is its impeccable radar. Barring that whether it is speed, aerodynamics or agility, F/A-18 is no match for MiG-29 series. A Boeing official tacitly admitted this in his interview.

  • @916ppl they over come it because french were knowing dog fight tactics

  • @916ppl my frnd i do not think so dat f 18 is up to the mark in comparission to russian technology

  • Russian still prefer su-33 over mig 29K but the problem is its not viable to produce small number of su-33 and india has already placed few orders for mig 29K so producing mig 29K will be easy for them, so the Russian are also getting mig 29k instead of su-33 but the whole project of mig29 K was funded by Indians

  • if anyone can point me to the soundtrack for this video i would appreciate it

  • RUSSIA, HOW COULD YOU?!

HOW DARE YOU RETIRE THE SU-33!

  • F22 USA USA USA

  • EXCELENTE ***** 5

    Saludos

    Juan José

  • what is the soundtrack here

  • Lol nice, one had Indian roundel

  • @russiadefence

India would not buy Mig-31! Why should buy such absolete aircraft?

  • Best Aircraft around, Mig-29k is naval version of Mig-35 with PESA radar and potential for AESA upgrade! Classy A/C! Its with Indian navy and Russian navy going to replace its SU-33 by MIG-29k!

  • @tutu1234

Mig-35 got nothing to do with Mig-29K. Mig-35 was developed from Mig-29M

  • @photosshop

Don't you think you are being contradictory? Mig-29K is an upgraded variant of Mig-29M similar to Mig-35!! Cockpit, avionics etc are all same, accept AESA!

  • does this have TVC like Mig-35?!!

  • wat an awesome fighter

  • India will have a total of 45 of these.

  • Миг-29К наконец то вскоре поступят на вооружение РФ!

  • Отличная новость, товарисчиии!!!

    sukhoi. ru/ forum/ showthread.php ?t=60613

    Читаем все!

It`s very good news. Read is all!

  • MiG 29K with the KH-35 should be deadly anti-shipping package.

  • Still better in lethality would be the combination MiG-29KUB with Krypton Kh-31P Mod2. This Mach 4 missile, in its latest version, have 200km range or more and even being antiradar can be used as antiship missile too.

  • indian navy variant jet for indian navy thank you russia-by indian

  • There is no particular variant... MiG-29K is the same for both India and Russia except Russia is going to have AESA radar.

  • Indian non-stealth aircraft are getting an AESA upgrade from Phazotron by 2015

Also, MiG35 and SMT are better than this variant

  • Yes, now the Russian navy is going to replace its Su-33K fighters on its carrier with the MiG-29K so that the cost advantage is maintained.

  • @russiadefence

India demand AESA radar also. AESA radar was demanded in previous tender for future Indian navy combat airplane. That is why Saab hastened its development of the Gripen NG.

  • @russiadefence

they both will use the Zhuk M or Zhuk A.

India requested to have an AESA radar for its fighters, and is negotiating upgrades of the su-30MKI

  • @russiadefence Why is there no AESA radar in Indian variant? I think its a bad deal with the delay of Vikramaditya and the Mig-29 crashing, i think its time we moved away from Russian stuff. Unless Russia assures us that our relation is more than Buyer Seller relation and that we are Strategic partners.. Russia should buy some stuff from us too. Like Arjun MBT or give orders for ship building to us instead of France. It would be much cheaper and we can collaborate better.

  • @KarthikSoun All in due course. PESA radar is fine for now and AESA upgrades will happen in due course. The Mig 29K is a potent platform and it gives the Indian navy an edge in the region. This MiG is a potent answer to even the latest F 16 mod 52s' being operated by the pakis. Forget about the Gooks for another 3 years at least until they learn to operate carriers with Su33s'.

  • @KarthikSoun India doesn't need AESA radar in its carrier-based planes, yet. The primary advantage of AESA is that it is much harder for an enemy to detect. This makes it optimized for a strike fighter that will be flying long distances over enemy territory. But, the Vikramaditya and, later the Vikrant will both be STOBAR type carriers which limits the ordinance planes flying from them can carry. This makes them fleet defense ships, not power projection. AESA is a waste in that situation.

  • @russiadefence Yes, thats true. The AESA radar was not ready at the time Indian Navy bought the Mig-29K. It will be upgraded with the AESA radar set in a future MLU.

  • the MiG was pained with Indian Airforce scheme

  • All I saw was Red Stars. Indians have green white and red in a circle.

  • Go Russia!! :) Always something new and I love this fighter. Now is this one going to become part of Su-33 fleet or a replacement because i would hope it would be both. Overall Hurrayyee :)))

  • No,this fighter will not join Russian navy ,this has been developed exclusively for Indian navy,India financed it's development .These fighters will operate aboard admiral gorshkov aircraft carrier bought by India.

During late 1980's soviet union initiated two programs-one medium category (mig-29 fulcrum)and other heavy category -Su-27 flanker. The Mig 29 developed into Mig29K which india opted for ,while Su-27 became Su-33 that russia flies

  • "The Ministry of Defense plans to buy the end of 2011 for the Navy deck Russia 26 MiG-29K, which have been successful tests of the Northern Fleet, told RIA Novosti on Wednesday, a senior military-industrial complex (MIC) of Russia."

  • Mig-29K was operated by the Russian Navy in the past... Now the modernised Mig-29K has been picked to replace the Su-33 until Russia's new carrier is ready

  • @strizhi Su-33's avionics are old junk.

  • @Poseidon500 Yea and cornflake cereal is for retards....can you at least be a bit more specific then opinionated on this subject? You do know that all Su-33's have been upgraded right?

  • @strizhi Yes. But which plane is cheaper to maintain? Also, how much of an upgrade did the su-33 recieve?

  • @strizhi Also, they are not building any new su-33's. They only have 19 left that are operational.

  • @Poseidon500 Russia only has one aircraft carrier which is precisely what this plane is meant for. Upgrade it got includes longer range radar and longer range weapons as well as if I'm not mistaken that they practically took out the old cockpit and replaced it with newer glass touch screen comps not to mention a newer HUD which practically gives the pilot all the info he needs without having to look down - a great advantage.

  • @Poseidon500 Also what makes the Su-33 even more potent then any other plane in worlds navy is not the fact of its speed, or manueverability or weapons payload but in fact the pilot. Only the best of the best - Russia's TOPGUN elite if you will are allowed to fly it. This means only the experienced. So with the elder generation Su-33 to be replaced by the newer MiG-29KUB and with plans for future carriers I see nothing wrong with what Russia has right now. Cards in hand are good.

  • @strizhi Well I don't see the need to get rid of those 19 su-33's. Longer range, probably an upgrade similar to the su-27sm.

I was unaware of the upgrade. Makes sense actually. However, I was under the impression that this mig was going to totally replace it.

    Oh well either way.

  • @Poseidon500 Well there's also talk of even PAK FA modified to Naval status to fly alongside MiG-29KUB and replace the Su-33's. Time will tell and hope for the best :)
