@1983pulsmann anyway, the video is made so quality that really looks it is official. A true art, i have to say. Tell me did you made that work particularly for this song, or you have just adjusted?
@marpeja the recordings were actually madefor a different project, but then I heard "people" and so I thought the images matched very well with the song
its really necessary that you can say this. That you can say what you think and feel and not to pretend s.th else all the time. That is what really preserves us from developing into monsters.
killing is what uneducated animals do and even the animals only kill for food. Most people that pull the trigger are following the leadership of people addicted to greed, power, and destruction.
To me it's about how you are what you hate. We all are small, petty, ugly, act as if we know everything when we know nothing and sometimes happen to walk too slow, yet those are also things we hate in other people, it's easy to forget about our own flaws and instead to focus on the hate especially when we're hurt, which can be quite dangerous
All the haters - you aren't thinking hard enough about the lyrics nor are you giving Boyd enough credit. Yeah, the point is that he's whining about how many pet peeves he has about people - starting with things that are easy to relate to and escalating to the point where you're like "uhh, wait, what?" He's parodying the person that you were when you agreed with the first few parts of the song, at the end of the song. "Look how slippery the slope of hating people is." That's all...
@archaist I think the "parody explanation" is your own personal view, don't express it like it's the objective truth. I don't think its how the writer sees it... If so, there would be no need for writing the last lines...(after "bring back the circus maximus...")
@wkskfk actually it doesn't matter how the writer sees it- everybody who listens to it has their own idea about its meaning, and they could all be right because after the song is released it has a life on its own. But I think archaists interpretation makes sense- it's the last lines that make you realise how absurd the song is, they are so strongly against the common sense and that makes you realise it is not just another song whining about how awful everybody is.
Boy, the chords on this are just fantastic. If I'd been born in '96 instead of '56, I would be thinking of all the melodies I could riff, using these chords as the basics. But, sadly I just imagine it.
@olthoigangster I think rather that his intention is too be either the voice of the ignorant or a voice of a conscience which most people here very slightly or at the worst of times and try to fight off. Which is all reflected in how the voice is echoey.
something should be planned my friend of course but whyit is not done, let's not be reactive, let's be proactive, they ruin the economy they ruin freedom they ruin poewr they ruin beauty they ruin lo an happyness, they ruin natural growth of humanity they ruin everything that is good in life. I like Boyd and I love this particular album, but this song is rather silly. The fun thing is that almost everyone who agrees with the song's lyrics would be the ones in the meat grinder.
Just my two cents: This has nothing to do with the devil. It's all about the will of getting rid of dumb fucks and annoying people who are just worthless. Personally, a lot of times I feel exactly this way. Specially at work.
I met this man in person at the First Modern Drunkard Magazine Convention. The man is so disturbingly charismatic that I expected cargo cults to spring up in his wake.
All these fools who agree with Boyd don't even realize they and their loved ones would be among the tortured and slaughtered and yet they say stuff like "cool song," "we need a brutal gardener," et al.
It's ironic that by having stupid, ugly, and socially awkward people that we are able to identify intelligent, beautiful, and superior people. I what Rice does but I disagree with his thesis here. We need "good" and "bad" in this world to be able to recognize what is interpreted to each individual as "good." What is beauty when you cannot compare it to hideousness?
What most people dont get is that Boyd is about saying things that, if we are honest with ourselves, we've felt. He speaks to the devil in us.He just doesn't have that eternal, internal censor. We are afraid to feel unless it's in keeping with the modern accepted moral template. We want to say we understand love but we reject hate. Art is about emotion, not social codes. Or at least it once was. And let's not underestimate the power of irony. That's not to say that feelings must be acted upon.
Sad but true. However, what i want say is, the song is perfectly produced, it sounds so good. And, funnywise, with a Martini, you get even closer to the mood. I think i like it even a bit better when i did not yet learn to understand the english language. Prost...
I like the lyrics (i cant listen to the music right now).
If this would happen in real life, everybody would be killed because we all think different: I dispise people that eat animals and people that eat animals despise me so we all would die = awesome. Written by a misanthrope.
@liliz03 i actually think that this is about confidence and knowing that your point of view is right and others know shit. i know it isn't too liberal and everything but it's fucking right to be right.
It's interesting how every complaint this song makes can just as easily apply to everyone who's commenting saying "So true! So true! I hate everybody because I'm so SPECIAAAAAAL"
I envy Boyd Rice for writing this song and recording it. Listening to this song was in relation to reading your first Sartre or Camus novel and opening your eyes to the fact that you are not alone. An epiphany that hasn't made me any happier but much more aware.
@amcelt60 Thing that gives me pause is that there'll always be someone far more intelligent than I who may be quite willing to think as Rice does (and, indeed, as I do.)
The continuum of smarts has me on it but neither at one end or the other.
Vlad Draco the Impaler lives on. He lives in the hearts and minds of the people of Romania. Gengis Khan lived by deed and lives on by seed and the memory of man. It's not John Brown's, but Ragnar Redbeard's spirit that lives and keeps marching on.
Great song. I certainly share common ground with Boyd Rice.
He's wrong to embrace life though, human life that is. He should encourage extinction rather than a 90 - 99% reduction.
Even after all the US/UK supporters and selfish inward thinking scum have been given the pain and death they deserve, the generations who succeed the minority left behind will eventually revert back this sub-humanity we endure now, and it's a circle that will never end.
Boyd is a really fascinating guy, he's super intelligent, he's a really interesting guy. He says he's not a Nazi. It's not politics, he just believes in the Darwin theory of survival of the fittest, basically. - Rose McDowall on Boyd Rice
@inhocsignovinces88 Wrong. Some people are disgusting creatures whom should be made to perish for one reason or another, while other people are incredible in every facet. This is a song about getting rid of the unwanted, so there's more of the wanted.
That's only one way of interpreting it. The same people you hate are probably looking on you as you look on them. This song could be seen as a profound irony in that many of the misanthropic people who look upon others as filth are exactly what they hate and not able to realize it.
Music in this way is like poetry with a plethora of possible interpretations viable and none inherently wrong. You are both right in your own way.
@JeremyxFisher People who want to indiscriminately kill off everyone who gets on their nerves for vague, subjective reasons seem pretty 'unwanted' to me. They don't exactly keep the trains running on time.
Boyd Rice makes me giggle. He sounds like Mr. Rogers.
I don't get how people take him so seriously. He's made a living out of fucking with people's heads, and obviously having a good laugh at the expense of those who get their panties in a twist.
Boyd Rice makes me giggle. He sounds like Mr. Rogers.
I don't get how people take him so seriously. He's made a living out of fucking with people's heads, and obviously having a good laugh at the expense of those who get their panties in a twist.
i understand the song but how can you agree with the lyrics as humans we should love everybody and just all take a chill pill life is going to go on whether there is good or evil so just go with the flow and live your life!
@dougjmowould yeah cause you could get everyone to think that? I'd love to think the same and I do really, but then you get *flattened* by someone, after laying about in the flowers with the human race being beautiful cause they know they are, thinking OH! what a gold mine of opportunity for me to cause havoc this is! and the circle continues. there will always have to be the people at the bottom who have to work to keep the country running who could do without narrow-minded love in their lives
@ofdarknessandlight your right on having people at the bottom but it is the same concept of having police.. i mean i don't like certain policeman but if shit goes down there will be a least a little law and order with having a police force. Life is never fair to some people but for the people who do strive and reach goals that they never thought they could, those are the people who inspire the next bunch of people who can make change in the world!
@dougjmowould i'm sorry but i will not go along with this "flow" you speak of. All my life i have always wanted to do what everybody wasn't doing. Go the other direction, against the flow. I hate belonging to any herd. it's hard to break free from everyone though, but i think it can be done.
@raoulsghouls i guess you didn't read that last line i wrote.. it said live your life , do what you want to do.. when i said go with the flow i wasn't meaning like river and go the same direction everybody else is going. That might be what your problem is you want to be so different that it causes you to have argue with my statement!!! Go with the flow means who cares what everybody else is doing and live your on life!!!
@raoulsghouls well have you ever thought maybe your fucking somebody elses life up while trying to do what you want... to me,my opinion, you just don't sound like a happy person in general and probably negative thinker all the time.. you need to find peace with yourself first and when you do that i think other parts of your life will fall in place, sorry you have such a bad life i mean its not like your in Afghanistan right now getting blown the fuck up!
hahaa.. you want be happy until you see genocide and hate people in general that doesn't sound very good, maybe you should just go commit suicide if you really hate this world that much. I mean, i don't know you personally but if your world, that surrounds you is that bad , then i think suicide would be the only way to get rid of YOUR problem..
he sounds like some little girl writing in her diary cuz she can't deal with her mom's rules. "boo hoo, life is hard and full of mean people!"
because of his obsessive compulsive tendencies to dwell on shitty people, which only goes toward making him feel smart, he intellectualizes it, thus further alienating, or protecting, himself.
i'm acutely aware of the stupid people in this world, and have been a long time. but then you get past puberty and get over it and get over yourself.
actually, i think if he gave a shit enough to "hate," it would be all of you brown nosers kissing his ass, questioning nothing he says, not forming ideas for yourselves, and clicking the thumbs down. he was married to lisa carver, another strong minded person unafraid of being transgressive. the reason i bother to diss him is because of the creedence he lent the white aryan resistance and tom metzger when the latter had his cable access show. not that you care: you listen to d.i.j.
trolling? please. you're grasping for straws. you just don't have an intelligent response to my statement. you spoke out of anger. i was making sense. you don't like that what i say makes sense to you and that yes, it's most possibly correct.
reading this back and forth, who would boyd rice hate now? the one who lashes out of uncontrolled emotionality then shrinks away from engaged discourse? yeah, it's you he'd probably hate, wouldn't he?
aww, your glass heart must be shattering. poor baby.
here's something that may shock you. i don't care that boyd rice was on some neo-nazi show. i don't care what people do when it has nothing to do with the art that they create. i don't care that you're all fluffed up about said appearance on neo-nazi show. 'people' is a funny song, and it's a funny song precisely because of the fact that a lot of us have gotten annoyed with others for these exact same reasons.
just as an aside, this is far from 'uncontrolled emotionality'.
You're looking in the wrong place. This song was a collaboration with some other musicians. Listen to more of his collaborations with Douglas P. from Death in June. In particular, "Scorpion Wind," their side project. You can find "The Cruelty of the Heavens" and "Some Colossus" on Youtube.
We need a gardener. An iron gardener.

He's made a living out of fucking with people's heads, and obviously having a good laugh at the expense of those who get their panties in a twist.

i understand the song but how can you agree with the lyrics as humans we should love everybody and just all take a chill pill life is going to go on whether there is good or evil so just go with the flow and live your life!
dougjmowould 1 year ago
@dougjmowould The way you live your life, or others, is the basis of this song
Goatsemen 1 year ago
@dougjmowould yeah cause you could get everyone to think that? I'd love to think the same and I do really, but then you get *flattened* by someone, after laying about in the flowers with the human race being beautiful cause they know they are, thinking OH! what a gold mine of opportunity for me to cause havoc this is! and the circle continues. there will always have to be the people at the bottom who have to work to keep the country running who could do without narrow-minded love in their lives
ofdarknessandlight 1 year ago
@ofdarknessandlight your right on having people at the bottom but it is the same concept of having police.. i mean i don't like certain policeman but if shit goes down there will be a least a little law and order with having a police force. Life is never fair to some people but for the people who do strive and reach goals that they never thought they could, those are the people who inspire the next bunch of people who can make change in the world!
dougjmowould 1 year ago
@dougjmowould True! It all comes down to what you do with your lives.
ofdarknessandlight 1 year ago
@dougjmowould i'm sorry but i will not go along with this "flow" you speak of. All my life i have always wanted to do what everybody wasn't doing. Go the other direction, against the flow. I hate belonging to any herd. it's hard to break free from everyone though, but i think it can be done.
raoulsghouls 1 year ago
@raoulsghouls i guess you didn't read that last line i wrote.. it said live your life , do what you want to do.. when i said go with the flow i wasn't meaning like river and go the same direction everybody else is going. That might be what your problem is you want to be so different that it causes you to have argue with my statement!!! Go with the flow means who cares what everybody else is doing and live your on life!!!
dougjmowould 1 year ago
@dougjmowould i can't live my life the way i want to when other people are fucking it up. that's my whole point.
raoulsghouls 1 year ago
@raoulsghouls well have you ever thought maybe your fucking somebody elses life up while trying to do what you want... to me,my opinion, you just don't sound like a happy person in general and probably negative thinker all the time.. you need to find peace with yourself first and when you do that i think other parts of your life will fall in place, sorry you have such a bad life i mean its not like your in Afghanistan right now getting blown the fuck up!

@raoulsghouls
hahaa.. you want be happy until you see genocide and hate people in general that doesn't sound very good, maybe you should just go commit suicide if you really hate this world that much. I mean, i don't know you personally but if your world, that surrounds you is that bad , then i think suicide would be the only way to get rid of YOUR problem..

@dougjmowould Why would anyone kill themselves for that? If your world sucks, change it. Dont change yourself.

This is not a neo-nazi song, get over it.
Genghis Kahn was Mongolian, and Ruhollah Khomeini was Muslim. I'm pretty sure neo-nazis don't write songs praising the work of Muslims and Mongolians.

he sounds like some little girl writing in her diary cuz she can't deal with her mom's rules. "boo hoo, life is hard and full of mean people!"
because of his obsessive compulsive tendencies to dwell on shitty people, which only goes toward making him feel smart, he intellectualizes it, thus further alienating, or protecting, himself.
i'm acutely aware of the stupid people in this world, and have been a long time. but then you get past puberty and get over it and get over yourself.
avalanchesoul 2 years ago
you know that you are one of the people he hates, right? it's just about him hating you. he hates you.
glassineheart 2 years ago
actually, i think if he gave a shit enough to "hate," it would be all of you brown nosers kissing his ass, questioning nothing he says, not forming ideas for yourselves, and clicking the thumbs down. he was married to lisa carver, another strong minded person unafraid of being transgressive. the reason i bother to diss him is because of the creedence he lent the white aryan resistance and tom metzger when the latter had his cable access show. not that you care: you listen to d.i.j.
avalanchesoul 2 years ago
actually, i was trolling you. because it was funny. thanks for wasting your time to look at my profile here. i guess i trolled you properly?
and yes, i do listen to di6 and i love them, great music, piss off now, bye.
glassineheart 2 years ago
trolling? please. you're grasping for straws. you just don't have an intelligent response to my statement. you spoke out of anger. i was making sense. you don't like that what i say makes sense to you and that yes, it's most possibly correct.
reading this back and forth, who would boyd rice hate now? the one who lashes out of uncontrolled emotionality then shrinks away from engaged discourse? yeah, it's you he'd probably hate, wouldn't he?
aww, your glass heart must be shattering. poor baby.
avalanchesoul 2 years ago
here's something that may shock you. i don't care that boyd rice was on some neo-nazi show. i don't care what people do when it has nothing to do with the art that they create. i don't care that you're all fluffed up about said appearance on neo-nazi show. 'people' is a funny song, and it's a funny song precisely because of the fact that a lot of us have gotten annoyed with others for these exact same reasons.
just as an aside, this is far from 'uncontrolled emotionality'.

Total war, and people
Knows anyone the chords of this?

You're looking in the wrong place. This song was a collaboration with some other musicians. Listen to more of his collaborations with Douglas P. from Death in June. In particular, "Scorpion Wind," their side project. You can find "The Cruelty of the Heavens" and "Some Colossus" on Youtube.
