  • no i accept aAlexander is 2 cetuury Bc But great Buddha 6 century B .C , sculptures are and design architectur are similar coexistence

  • The most beautiful sculptures i ever saw, The attention to detail is even more amazing, the curls in the cloth and hair is brilliantly presented. The great fusion of between Greek,Persian and Indian art. The art of sculpture at the finest.....

  • m very curious to knw abt it

  • pllzzzz someone help to find out more these kind of snaps of ghandara or anything else of budhas life story

  • I'm a Bangladeshi. 3 cheers!

  • Greco-Buddhism, sometimes spelt Graeco-Buddhism, refers to the cultural syncretism between Hellenistic culture and Buddhism, which developed between the 4th century BCE and the 5th century CE

  • every one always forgets hinduism

  • The new syncretic form of Buddhism expanded fully into Eastern Asia soon after these events. The Kushan monk Lokaksema visited the Han Chinese court at Loyang in 178 CE, and worked there for ten years to make the first known translations of Mahayana texts into Chinese. The new faith later spread into Korea and Japan, and was itself at the origin of Zen

  • Nice video , the choice of the Requiem of Mozart fit perfectly for that;

The art of Gandhara is one of the most beautifull ,to my opinion in the indian subcontinent.

    Thank-you

  • 8275989,

    Ah, ah !

You know a certainly gallery in Paris, standing of a certainly "quai" ?

It is not our collection, sorry. We know who deals fake in Paris...

  • all these connect to india only.

  • acerb45666555,

As I know, Alexander the Great did not survive for centuries... Those sculptures have two influences, Greekand Bouddist, and were made between the second and the forth century,

  • all these sculptures have Greek-Macedonian influence. i would say most are Post-Alexandrian works.

  • acerb45666555, I mind FOUR centuries, of course.

  • Well done - great collection. I just visited an exhibition "Gandhara - buddhist heritage of Pakistan" with 300 sculptures and items and a visual 3d-show of the Bamiyam buddhas, since Gandhara spread from Pakistan over Afghanistan. Really Fascinating!

  • Mind that most images shown in this diaporama most probably belong to "late 20th-early 21st c." and cannot be compared to the sculptures displayed in Bonn !

  • This unique touring exhibition Im refering to shows artwork from the 1-5th century - the heydays of Gandhara culture and art - mostly from museums of Pakistan (but also from all over the world), which made the show of so many pieces at one time in one place possible. Check out the touring exhibition (Berlin, Zurich.....) and you will see. After that all the pieces will spread over the world again....

  • Thank you for the reply, I shall not miss the exhibition when it goes to Berlin. So far, I only saw all the sculptures as pictures and in the catalogue.

  • Mind what you say! Be serious! How can you declare that all the sculptures of this diaporama are fakes? Who are you? Are you an Expert? (!!!) All those sculptures are genuines and are coming from very serious provenances. Most of them were sold in auctions in Paris with an Expert (a real and serious Expert)and some of them are now in Museums! Please note that I am collecting Gandhâra and Asian Art since 40 years, so I know what a fake is...

  • Vraiment, vraiment stupide... C'est exactement la même époque. Je ne souhaite pas être vulgaire mais j'ai très envie...

  • Thank you for your comment. Do you know I can buy the Catalogue of this exhibition? Do you know if this exhibition will come in Paris ?

Do you know when this exhibition is coming to Berlin and in which Museum?

I thank you in advance for your answer.

  • I dont know if the exhibition comes to Paris. In Berlin it will be from 9. April till 10. August 2009 at the Martin-Gropius-Bau, Berlin

  • Vielen Dank! Es ist wircklich sehr nett. Ich werde das Buch natürlich kaufen und findet, es ist nicht teuer für ein solches Buch.

  • Beautiful video...but terrible execution of Requiem!

  • Thanks for the "beautiful" for my video (it's the second and it is difficult!).

I know the interpretation of the Requiem is'nt... terrible. I change it.
