the cheif copper is to blame and i hope hes crushed at the pearly gates of heaven before hes sent to hell and take the fucking sun news paper with him
I remember matches in the 70s/80s where crushes happened. Wrong gate opens, suddenly you're squashed in and lifted off your feet. You cross your arms in front to make a space and push to stop your face burying in someone's back. Being a 5'2" girl, that would be all I could see anyway. Then the crush would ease, you'd be shaken and scared but we took such treatment for granted. Back then football fans were considered at best uncool, at worst scum.
The repeated "caused by Liverpool fans trying to gain entrance without tickets" is getting me so angry - disinformation from the word go from the Police - sadly still the same today
RIP to the 96----From a United fan. Too the people who say shit about the Munich disaster or other disasters, seriously sort yourself out, you should forget about who you support when these things happen, the people that have died in these accidents just wanted to watch or play sport they loved. Rivalry is good but not when people take it too far. Justice for the 96!!
7: 25 "a total of 40 ambulances dispatched" only one in the pictures tho. shame. fucking shame on cops, the sun, and the gov for this. i tell my kids about football, wat it is, and this has been wat stops it being all good. rip - stfc. and shame on assholes posting shit on this vid and others, u wouldnt say that about your own, we all could have been the ones that day.
The leppings lane end of stadium as always been over crowded. my 2 brothers are Newcastle united fans. and in the early 80's Newcastle played Sheff Wednesday and they were stood on leppings lane terrace. and are Andy fainted it was that full. and people were getting crushed. Also in 1981 it almost happned again same end of stadium . Tottenham v Wolves FA Cup Semi final. it was a death trap.
This was definitely a tragic day for most. RIP to the 96 who died. But my heart goes out well and truly to the families who lost someone from the tragedy and had to read the sun and hear these kind of news reports. It's sick. Justice needs to be done for the 96. The Heysel got justice those Liverpool fans were jailed for manslaughter and it was not all Liverpool fans who caused the incident. Not all liverpool fans are hooligans just like not all Chelsea fans are racist or man u fans are dicks!!!
@101DreDr yeah course they didn't mate... scared the Juventus fans so much that they all backed into a wall and got crushed. not DIRECTLY killing them no, but if they wernt such louty bastards then 39 people wouldnt have been killed. Liverpool fans arnt as bad now, in fact I don't dislike them at all, only the ones who try and 'justify' the death of innocents.

@captaincomputa i fucking never said anything bad i said liverpool were playin away thats why they got the small end dont fucking get cocky with my or you'll find ur cock down your throat
Sat screaming at this, fucking bollocks saying there was an 'open gate' and 'about 20 ambulances raced in', there was 1 ambulance that broke through ONE, ONE, ONE. , if it wasn't for fans even more had of died, not down to police, not down to stewards, the fans made sure not more died,
@Cancerape youve been commentin on a few of these hillsborough videos, why? why would you go on and mock the fact that people died in total agony, that mothers lost their children, that children lost a parent, that friends died in front of each others eyes? its not funny, and it could have happend to any clubs fans that day!! the police didnt give a fuck what team was playing they just shoved everyone in! so grow up son if it happened to your club and your relatives died you wdnt be sayin shit!
police all huddled in stand for De-brief getting there lies and cover up stories together! police are disgusting, for once cant they just hold there hands up and say...we made a mistake! sorry to the 96 and there families! but no! lies exscuses!
@ligadcorazon yes it is. there's a video on here by "liverlee" if you search "hillsborough disaster 15 april 1989" you should find it. it sums the taylor report up
@samliffe There was no Liverpool fans turned up without tickets. Officially there was just over 9000 Liverpool fans in the Leppings Lane end of the stadium which could hold over 10000 fans! The police are to blame as they opened on of the exit gates to let fans in as there were only 23 turnstiles into that end rather than getting the kick off moved back and there was not enough police officers to guide people into the half full outer cages
@rower608 I'm a Sheffield Wednesday fan and i can tell you that you are seriously chatting out you're arse. The Leppings Lane Stand holds no where near 10,000 our ground only holds 39,000 and the Leppings Lane stand is by far our smallest stand. it probably holds around 5,000 or so. It was down to poor stadium management, The Liverpool fans should have been put in the Spion Kop end because there was more of them.
Erm you do realize that the ground wasn't all-seated back then right? 39,000 is Hillsborough's present-day ALL-SEATED capacity..
In 1989 Hillsborough's capacity was 54,000 & the Leppings Lane end could in total hold 14,000, around 10k on the standing terrace & 4,000 in the upper tier seating....@rower608 is correct.
There may well an argument for saying the capacity of that end was perhaps set too high given the shallowness of the terrace & low number of turnstiles...
the reporter said that it was the second time for Dalglish obviously referring to Heysel but Dalglish was also in the stands the day of the Ibrox disaster. 1 time in your life would be enough to scar you permanently but 3 times.
THE IDIOT REPORTER SAYING THAT FANS RUSHED THROUGH A BROKEN TURNSTYLE IS TOTALLY WRONG... POLICE OPENED THE GATE BECAUSE THEY FROZE N LOST CONTROL. YNWA. RIP 96

@ChuckNorrisKratosLOL You're laughing at dead people. Then you comment on something you know nothing about. If you knew your facts you would know that this disaster was caused by the failure of the police, not hooligans.
I don't get what happened on paper. Can someone give the link to a video of the disaster as it happened. I know it's not pretty when people die so suddenly but no one ever censors the planes crashing into the twin towers so why is no one showing this event before and during the incident?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dont get me wrong i think its very sad that ppl died from somthing like this but its really not the police fault its the fans.... its just fucking "football" gayest "sport" there is. noone should have even went to it. then noone would have died.
But i'll just suggest to you if you want to find " the gayest sport there is" then look no further that the version of "football" played in your own country......where obese guys wearing skin-tight leggings, crash helmets & shoulder pads cuddle each other over the right to posess a coconut..
I've never been to Liverpool but from what I hear, its a magnificent city with even better people. When you see Everton fans at the Hillsborough memorial, paying their respscts,it tells me all I need to know about Liverpool.
Oh,and thats typical reporting from the BBC."Fans rushed through the gate".They should've got their facts straight before blaming someone!
it was a sad day, one of the worse days of my life, i was only 13 and a wednesday fan i lived 10 minutes from hillsborough, it was weird that the worlds media was on my doorstep.....such a tragedy......96 R.I.P.X
How can that Peter Wright say the opening of the gate coincided with the crush and then question whether the 2 events were linked! I think he just answered his own bloody question! And then the ground was safe according to "experts"? Simon Inglis, nothing wrong with the safety elements of the ground? Oh, so the fact the safety certificate was out of date? Idiot
@slimpar01 To be fair on Inglis he was going on the assumption that clubs had to annually renew their ground safety certificate when in fact the local authority in Sheffield had been lax in the extreme, allowing modifications to the Leppings Lane end (adding pens and removing certain crush barriers) without reducing the capacity. I'm sure he was of a different opinion when the truth came to light.
What has changed if a big club like Liverpool was to play at a small ground in an important match these days? When I look at a lot of the smaller clubs grounds these days mostly they all look like they need an upgrade. What did the FA actually do after this tragedy to prevent ANYTHING like it happening again?
@PilkingtonLogic Try all seater stadiums. no hign fences around the pitch, crash gates for access onto the pitch, more stewards and police inside and outside the grounds, better comms and training, etc, etc, etc....
Perhaps most important of all...........this tragedy educated football fans all around the globe to behave in a more responsible manner.
@southbristolsfinest Alright mate, thanks for the info :).... I wasn't having a go. I was just wondering if, as a traveling fan from overseas it is safe to attend ALL English matches, no matter who is playing or where its played at these days...
@PilkingtonLogic It is perfectly safe to attend British matches of any standard in the UK today. Non league stadiums that attract crowds of perhaps a few hundred to a couple of thousand HAVE to comply with strict safety regulations before they are allowed to be promoted to the football league proper. We will not see the likes of Hillsborough or the Bradford fire ever again at stadiums in the UK. Continental Europe are not far behind our standards. S. America not so good though. :-)
Respond to this video... If a premier club were to be drawn against a non league club in the FA Cup on the small clubs turf the FA would switch the game to the larger club's ground. Thus allowing larger ticket allocation and to comply with strict health and safety regulations. That way the smaller club makes more money and the crowds are safe. Everyones a winner.
of course the fencing at anfield was only infront of the kop at that time,as the other stands were all seater...apart fron the small corner in the anfield road end for away fans
I was only a baby when this happened, 5 days before my 1st birthday (and wierdly enough during the disaster itself I took my first steps) my dad was ther with lads i now go to the match with too so naturally ive heard a lot about what happened that day, but this has knocked me sideways how it got reported! a broken turnstyle!? drunken ticketless fans!? how can 40,000 witnesses all be lieing!? what fuckers! the rest of the country must have thought allsorts about us at 1st! we need justice now!
that's not entirely accurate. A large number of Stadia at that time did not have perimeter fencing (including Anfield, Goodison Park and Wembley) as it was seen as a potential safety hazard. It was also rare for terracing to be divided into 'pens', again, this was seen as a potential hazard. Responsibility for spectator safety always falls on the host club
@MrPinkfloyd001 wrong. anfield, wembley and goodison all had perimeter fencing.the fencing at anfield had gaps in it incase of emergency. not sure if goodison and wembley were the same. villa park and old trafford away ends were also divided into pens, very similar to leppings lane.main mistake was they didnt have anyone on the tunnel entrance at hillsborough that day. on my previous visits there...they always had stewards on the tunnel to direct fans to the sides when the middle pens were full
@MrPinkfloyd001 Sheffield Wednesday has nothing to do with this, it was only their stadium, it wasn't the stadiums fault, all english football grounds had fencing and standing spectator spaces.
Thanks for uploading this, the arrogance of the senior police is unreal, as well as the BBC/ITV reporting s on what happened initially, they should have waited.
May the 96 be resting in peace, and the living negligent and dismissive police be tortured souls that ultimately rot in hell.

Idiot
slimpar01 7 months ago 2

PilkingtonLogic 7 months ago
@PilkingtonLogic Try all seater stadiums. no hign fences around the pitch, crash gates for access onto the pitch, more stewards and police inside and outside the grounds, better comms and training, etc, etc, etc....
Perhaps most important of all...........this tragedy educated football fans all around the globe to behave in a more responsible manner.

@southbristolsfinest Alright mate, thanks for the info :).... I wasn't having a go. I was just wondering if, as a traveling fan from overseas it is safe to attend ALL English matches, no matter who is playing or where its played at these days...
PilkingtonLogic 7 months ago

@southbristolsfinest well lets hope the police now learn to behave in a responsible manner

of course the fencing at anfield was only infront of the kop at that time,as the other stands were all seater...apart fron the small corner in the anfield road end for away fans

that's not entirely accurate.
MrPinkfloyd001 9 months ago
@MrPinkfloyd001 wrong. anfield, wembley and goodison all had perimeter fencing.the fencing at anfield had gaps in it incase of emergency. not sure if goodison and wembley were the same. villa park and old trafford away ends were also divided into pens, very similar to leppings lane.main mistake was they didnt have anyone on the tunnel entrance at hillsborough that day. on my previous visits there...they always had stewards on the tunnel to direct fans to the sides when the middle pens were full

I can't believe that the BBC had already started to lay the blame on LFC fans. IT WAS THE THE FAULT OF THE POLICE, THE FA, AND SHEFIELD WEDNESDAY!
MrPinkfloyd001 10 months ago
@MrPinkfloyd001 Sheffield Wednesday has nothing to do with this, it was only their stadium, it wasn't the stadiums fault, all english football grounds had fencing and standing spectator spaces.

Thanks for uploading this, the arrogance of the senior police is unreal, as well as the BBC/ITV reporting s on what happened initially, they should have waited.
