  • So much more

    i lold

  • LOLOLOL. The chip could of been doing so much more? What? Making a fucking movie or editing some songs. A fucking mac can't do shit. Half the people that own macs take and put windows on it anyway.

  • Yeah, the similarities are obvious.

  • Also does anyone have a link to the original postal service music video? I cannot seem to find one here....

  • Surprise! The same two guys (Called Josh and Xander) who made the music video for the postal service also helped apple make the commercial. They used the same lab in both videos. The company Skyworks is where both were filed. Case closed.

  • Well, they ripped of the idea for the IPad from Star Trek the next generation in the eighties!

  • So, who ripped off whom?

  • Thar be trolls below!

  • As a GNU/Linux nerd who doesnt own a single apple product that runs apple software (Rockbox on my ipod), its stupid to hate on apple for this.

  • i don't understand this horse shit?

  • FAIL!!

  • Fuckers

  • What chips were before?

  • @Cheburdac apple's own.. like the G3 and G5 etc....

  • @jack390 technically IBM/Apples chip.

  • mac probably paid postal service for allowing them to use the idea. or else they would have gotten suied as FK!

  • @thatfrknmexican "It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers' new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for 'Such Great Heights' made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent." The band did not take legal action against Apple or the filmmakers. -Wikipedia

  • @WiiGeee ok thats cool. i guess people jsut view it the wrong way bec it says "vs" :/

  • is it me or does apple suck?

  • makes me so angry to see huge corporations getting away with stealing ideas from other, more original people and using them for marketing.

  • @pepperandroses Apple didn't steal anything, the trusted a filmmaker to make them an original commercial, it just so happens The Postal Service trusted the same people to make an original music video. Turns out, the filmmaker wasn't so original.

  • @WiiGeee Well maybe Apple should have checked to see if it infringed anything before it was released.

  • The people who produced this commercial also produced the "Such Great Heights" music video, but TPS never approved the similar use of their video on this commercial, so don't blame Apple and Intel for this.

  • that wasn't apple's ad it was intel's ad

  • Gotta love Apple commercials. Always pisses ppl off :P 

  • >Dull little box.

Oh well, you know what? My dull little box has better components than your mac, and didnt cost me my house, family, and wordly possessions!

  • Macs and PCs are no different inside anymore...the only difference is the OS and the price tag. I threw OSX on my 5 year old Toshiba and some Mac owners I know acted like it was an inferior machine to the laptops they paid $900+ for despite having the exact same specs. Oh well, I paid $600 for it 5 years ago and proved it can do the same stuff...and now it's back to a real OS.

  • why is it mac commercials seem less like commercials and more like propaganda.

  • Apple and their annoying advertising... :)) Their marketing guys sure are dumb! Just search for "Intel snail ad". How can they have the guts to worship Intel suddenly now?? SHAME, APPLE!!!

  • Imagine the pretentious idiots who will actually pay for a mac, imagine paying for a dumbed down OS with no difficulty. Imagine buyin a personal computer (btw the mac is a personal computer, cause a person uses it and it computes). Imagine having the power user community laughing at your consumer idiotism.

Now imagine making your own custom pc, hand selected and fine tuned parts.

    Imagine not being a dumbass

  • @Deathwish7777777 You could only really imagine.

  • We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent." The band did not take legal action against Apple or the filmmakers.

  • Great video, now I will just go play some games on my intel processor that is in my "dull pc box" I would do it on a mac but....they are shit

  • lol'z doesnt matter where u go there is always some pointless war going on between mac and pc. and yes im owner of both but i prefer mac. now go ahead give me a bad rating.

  • @TheDigitalamon

LOL im the same as u i also prefer mac

  • This comparison is absolutely pointless. Anybody who does a little research will know that both parties (members of the music group and Apple) collaborated on this advert; this was agreed and nobody copied.

  • No - they didn't. No one collaborated. Where are you getting your information from?

  • On the original run for this advert, they did collaborate, but Apple used more footage closely related to the music video than was given to by the music group.

  • I am right. My opinion is more valuable than anyone's who disagrees. Yes; I have decisively won this argument, as often happens on the internet.

  • So, apparently the people at intel also work as skyworks?

  • Why can't anyone ever mention a Mac without starting a fan boy war?

  • Sadly, MarcusCardiff, anyone will have a large ego about Windows/Mac/Linux and start an inevitable flamewar. Windows=Mac=Linux. There, you arrogant fanboys, the basic truth in short. They can do the same thing nowadays and it's all a matter of choice. I'm a Mac and I'm happy with my choice.

  • You are my hero. I'm a Linux and I'm happy with my choice.

You are the only reasonable person here.

  • Feel moto, keke.

  • Trapped inside PCs? LOL a MAC is a PC

  • a MAC is a MAC!

Call it "computer" - but never call a Mac "PC"!

  • it is a PC though... Mac is based off redbox and linux software, and PC's are also based of linux and redbox. So yes, they are both PCs. (PC stands for Personal Computer)

  • Lol, I whole heartedly agree with you, and frankly, Macs have become "PC's" now that they share the VERY SAME hardware HAHA!

  • Well.... a PC is far better because you can change any part of the hardware.. and the boxes aren't dull if you have imagination. search " Pc case mod" in google images and see the possibilities. Also note that high end gaming isn't a little dull task.. one thing apples can't do because of thier shite hardware and overly expensive price... the OS is shit because it is really incompatible and don't give me the "macs get no viruses" shit.. if they were popular they would get viruses...

  • I use what I use and I'm happy with it. I'm considering doing a DIY high-end Windows 7 Ultimate machine.

  • No, idiot. Macs have some of the best hardware in the market. Do you consider nVidia to be a "shite" Company? Also the Operating system is one of the most compatible with plug and play devices...Period and of story.

P.s. I have a Toshiba running Windows 7 and i like it as well

  • The nVidia OR ATi cards are total shit... and overpriced... a mac Pro ATi4870 is £250....it's £120 for a PC =D and I haven't seen any i7 Macs floating about yet. and I don't know what OS you are talking about for plug n' play because almost NO drivers are mac compatible......

  • It's not about specs. It's how you use them. My Ibook 1 Gigahertz runs windows 7 faster than my dualcore 1.83 intel. Also, so you're saying Nvidia and Ati are total shit? That makes no sense. As for the plug and play argument, i've never had a conflict issue with Leopard, only with Vista and 7.

  • I'm not saying ATi or nVidia are shit, I'm saying Apple is shit because they overprice by a huge amount when there are cheaper, more effective products available...I have windows 7 too... it is very good for plug n' play devices, way better than shitty vista did. Vista used to blue screen when I used my TV stick, 7 found drivers, installed them, found some TV channels and played them =D

  • The computers themselves are still competitively priced compared to a Pc with the same specs and features. I don't even think I've seen a Pc with a multi-touch large track pad except for hp and it didn't even come CLOSE to the specs. Apple has something to offer to the computer world that no one else is able to do. Complete software/hardware integration.

  • haha lol.... only failers use a mouse pad..go use a good mouse like a Razer DeathAdder

  • Well, what if you're lacking a mouse? The Apple laptops make it very easy to get by without one. That's the point I was making. You can name any usb/bluetooth mouse you'd like but none of them will be a trackpad, understand?

  • OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator ;) Win

  • Perhaps. Although bluntly changing the subject.

  • I dunno, my Acer Aspire 5738z laptop has a multi-touch trackpad, I think other models have too?

  • but that hardware isn't integrated or supported by windows. It may work but it's not mad for the software.

  • OWNED its $70 cheaper to build a cheap ass pc with the same specs as the i7 imac

    YOUR ARE FUCIN OWNED

you spent 2 hours building an i7 pc i went to the store and spent just 70 bucks more on my i7 imac

    OWNED!!!

"mac is NOT expensive" is what you should be saying you mook

  • loololol but... you can't put an ATi 5970 in a Mac can you??? Direct X is unheard of on a mas.. especially DX11 anyway =D ans.. that $70 could e used to get some niice extras =P

  • we need HALF the hardware to play games as good as you thanks to open GL witch OWNS your DX11 bs

and 2 hours of work to build a computer as good as the imac it doesn't even have wifi and you still need to buy thermal paste fans and other things so the cost about the same you pc users are low on excuses not to switch to the superior os and computer

you guys are simply in denial

  • ......Fail... ATi hardware uses OpenGL you retard.. just how does Folding@home work then?? And... it's far more fun to build your own computer....it takes like 5 mins to screw fans in and another 5 to put paste on... you might not be denying anything... like your inability to handle a screw driver or RTFM (Read The Fucking Manual).. Plus, you can get a lovely PCI WIFI card with 802.11N standard for dirt cheap..

  • Various Linux distros are far superior to any of Mac's OS, same for windows.

Linux powers the worlds most servers, and the worlds fastest stock exchange, Billions of dollars a day, depend on the superior OS.

  • direct x can run on a mac you ignorant fanboy , it is intel based so x86 , you just need to install windows

  • exacly, it isn't mac is it? it's windows =P

  • why are you trying to debate computer based topics if you dont have a clue about what your talking about? >_>

mac is a machine made by apple

mac os is the os made by apple

windows is an os made by microsoft

    therefore your statement is untrue

    ~.~

  • A mac with the same specs will run considerably faster than a windows comp. Just look at the system requirements on almost any program to help you with that one.

  • haha damn no it wasnt a "ripoff" cuz it was just the same directors. they just totally copied a great idea they already had cuz they can't come up with anything new or amazing. shouldve just used the postal service vid for that commercial. it was way better

  • that actually is a great idea, I wonder why they chose to shoot totally different videos than just use the band vid, considering how similar they are o.0

  • Woh they really did copy them. The question is who copied who. Better look it up. The apple got intels in like '06 so if the music video was made before then apple copied them and if was made after that, then the Postal Service copied Apple

  • Same directors. Not even a copy. More of an homage to themselves. Directors own IP of their visual work unless that property is bought by someone. In saying that they can make another version of it for a completely different product as long as the shots are 10% different. In this case they more than are :)

    Both good videos btw.

  • Interesting....

I still think the Intel commercial is BS. Mine doesn't do boring ass shit. I work its ass off, abusing its multicore true multitasking capabilities.

  • Most applications don't take advantage of multiple cores, at least not yet.

  • OH NOES

i imagine a world with many polution, cuz no windows at homes

    and without penguins in zoos

    world onyl with apple trees

    NOOOOOOOOO

AND WITHOUT COOKIEZ(randomness at its best)

    OH NOEEEEEES

  • Can someone please pelase please explain to me why apple switching to intel helped there sales so much? Why would that increase there mac sales?

  • because it opened the platform to allow windows programs. and made it easier for developers to make sweet games and stuff. also it made it so windows could run on a mac

  • Because, you have a problem with words. "There" you go.

  • previously Mac was with IBM which reduced the manufacturing of processor chips of pc's, now IBM developing processor chips only for gaming consoles

  • Comment removed

  • My computer aint a dull little box.

  • I noticed this right away when I watched it.

So plainly obvious, go Linux, Open Sorcery.

  • well, it was the same director, so, I'm not really sure if it's a true ripoff, I think they should have used "such Great Heights" anyway because that's a great song, but the film makers pretty much just used there own idea twice, they were just kinda lazy

  • its jsut so weak that they did this =[

lame ass film makers ripping off themselves and not telling the band =[

  • You know, they could have at least used a Postal Service song.. just to denote some sort of "thanks for the idea" to them... Really disappointing of Apple to do this.. Tsk tsk tsk... Funny how somewhat the same thing happened with Apple's original logo (a bitten rainbow colored apple): the original creator of it never got any credit for it.

Now of course its the same director in this case, but it was meant for Postal Service, not Apple.. You get my drift. Stop making me confuse myself.

  • It wasn't Apple, it was the ad agency that decided to play Moby in the background.

  • I stand corrected.

  • wow!

  • no dude apple stole this commercial from his video...

  • wtf?? dull little tasks?? as if playing music on a mac is so much more exhilarating than a pc?!? I guess that's why Apple makes supercomputers eh? oh wait, they don't.

  • i know im late....

but I think I love you....

    XD

  • That pisses me off

  • hmmm... someone's low on ideas

  • Ben Gibbard stated on the band's website: "It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers' new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for 'Such Great Heights' made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent."

  • I heard that they are both by the same director.

    Does that make it ok?

  • However on January 19, 2006, Ben Gibbard stated on the band's website: "It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers' new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for 'Such Great Heights' made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent."

  • yeah. I suppose they still should have been asked about it.

  • thanks for the wiki copy and paste

  • woah

  • maybe that was the whole purpose. Perhaps you should see it sideways. Perhaps the concept is much more stronger then just mearly "copying"...take a closer look.

  • Yup Josh Melnick and Xander Charity directed both of them. Postal Service wasn't too happy about it though...

  • okay, for those who are just coming in here, both videos had the same director. okay? okay.

  • ARGH that is so annoying. "Performing dull little tasks". im sorry but that is just plan ridiculous, Im not sure if apples Commerical thinkers know about gaming or are they stuck in a box all day, BAH! stupid apple

  • Because they are stupid that's why they wont make the mistake you do by spelling 'Plain'..."plan"

  • well hey sorry for not meeting your grammar standards it was an accident i didnt realise. geez. Have a good life mate.

  • its realize...hhehe sorry i just butt in..none of my concern anyhow. cheers!

  • lol, well i should get a spell check. I dont concentrate on spelling :| i should really but meh that means doing stuff.lol

  • Don't worry I have mine on automatic, its just a bloody click away. cheers mate!

  • MAC SUCKS.

  • what does mac have to do with anything?

  • did you not watch the video?

    dumbass

  • dumbass...what does that mean?

you see the reason why the director used similarites is because the song speaks about similar things as apples' comercial.

  • well you see, in the english language "dumbass" means that you are stupid and need to shut your mouth cause you make no sense.

  • wow you´ve got quite a large vocabulary...very insightful bloke. I´ll keep the in mind.

    cheers niggha!

  • haha cant even spell nigger right.

  • AND WHATS WRONG about being a nigger? nah im malay btw

  • thats fucked up.

    talk about being unprofessional...

im more pissed at the people in charge of making the video than the people at Apple.

  • The same company made both products, they just recycled the footage. Very classless.

The Postal Service version came first.

  • "It has recently come to our attention that Apple Computers' new television commercial for the Intel chip features a shot-for-shot recreation of our video for 'Such Great Heights' made by the same filmmakers responsible for the original. We did not approve this commercialization and are extremely disappointed with both parties that this was executed without our consultation or consent."

  • Ben was kind of ticked about that. I think both videos are really creative, the dude that does them has talent but it's pretty lame that this happened.

  • This makes me want to hit someone D:

That is bullshit. This should have never happend. But like I said, it's good but not..?

    You understood me.

  • You cant rip something off your self.

Granted the dirrector should have stoped being lazy but its his events sequence he could use it to sell ice cream for all I care.

  • hahah..

    wow.

thats okay thats tell you good the music video was that they had to take it.

    :D

  • you forgot one thing smarty pants...it's the same director...

  • Yes Dull little tasks like Hollywood special effects and other bounds of limitless creativity. Typical mac pretentious bullshit, as though they're the power elite and PC users are druling peasants.

  • Not the same directors, but same producers...

and are ya'll saying "Such Great Heights" is by Moby? That is dumb

  • that would b keifer sutherlands voice

  • AHA LOL SAT this week on the ground threatened to plunge, was an Intel added:-D

  • week 8 2008

  • AMD FTW!!

  • i guess the guys that made both videos only had one good idea.

  • found that song on his myspace

  • it may be a cover version because the point of this video is to point out the differences between The Postal Service's music video and Apples commercial...

  • Yeah, it's off the album "Everything is wrong" it's called Good Moving over the face of the waters

  • whos the nerd who found out these were by the same director.

  • macs suck

    there all the same

    pcs rule endless possibilities

  • The commercial and music video were both made by the same directing team, Josh and Xander. Gee, you think they might look the same?

  • dang !!! THAT SONG IS FROM MOBY.. cool

  • The intel chip which has raped AMD for the last few years of their evil monoply.I never bu anyhing with Intel Inside(Idiot outside-popular inhouse joke when I workedn there).

support AMD processors and kill this american thieving monoply

  • you guys crack me up. very few of yall are commenting on how "mukyboy" realized how similar these commercials are, instead you talk about how controversial Apple's ads are.

  • good eye

  • i don't blame apple, i blame their ad agency. fucking hacks.

  • does this mean i can hack my mack into a satellite and if i can find someone to launch it then BAM! free dish access.

  • god damn you xD

    so funny

  • this ad has an "appropriation" concept.. meaning.. the concept itself is adopted from another concept.. w/c is Postal service. :D

  • Come down now, apple

  • lol, seems apple cant even think of some honest-self-thought-up adds ^^

  • "Dull little"... ha ha, I love how not only is Apple not really all that original, but Apple always needs to slam everyone else to make themsleves look better. Most of what Apple does is hype, hype, hype, by being overly dramatic. ... ha ha Drama Queens!

  • Ha ha, I'm with you on that. I think it's funny how now the iPhone is doing stuff that's considered "innovative". I could do the same things on my PocketPc phones years before the iPhone came out, and sadly, sometimes more. It's just that people aren't willing to shell out the money for something that isn't "flashy", "stylish", or "trendy". I'm not a huge fan of M$ either, just for the record.

  • Have you seen the "Hellgate London Monsters" out here Intel did out here? Blood Zombies drinking beer! Crazy crazy. And f'ing funny.

  • Macs are made of fail

  • whose the voice talent for this commercial?

  • voiceover = Kiefer Sutherland

Also, it IS the same directors who simply used footage from The Postal Service video. There was a lawsuit at the time.

  • gasp! i knew it looked familiar...

  • O.o

  • they even have the same helmets at 0:27; hmmm...

  • I wouldn't say that Apple ripped them off, it's more like an homage, really. They had to ask permission as well.

  • postal service came first, and it was not the same director

  • Haha! Which one came first? Hmmmm...

Are Apple Postal Service fans, or are the Postal Service Apple fans?

  • Actually the postal service released their video before this commercial aired. I <3 Ben gibbard XD

  • Hi. Can anyone please tell me what music this is from.

  • The song is by Moby, called God moves over the face of the water.

  • the postal service video is amazing, and the commercial is well, a commercial. I dont think it takes any integrity away from the video. It's just good, so the idea was used twice. who cares?

  • it was done as a parody

  • it was made by the same director

  • the postal service one is for skyworks, it says on the satellite

  • otherwise

  • Lolololoololol.

  • No doubt about it........Apples ad people ripped this off. Only a monkey would say otherwise.

  • Its Moby, but it sounds like Philip Glass too
