  • Awesome! Nile Rodgers is a legend

  • That shit grooves :D

  • Honestly i find Jerry rly authentic :) I love the way he plays and i dont understand how ppl keep telling he is not bernard edwards. Of he is not bernard , but who said he had to be ? He is good, and i love hearing him playing ;)

  • wow what a baseist

  • bassist is sick!! guitarist :\

  • I swear nothing beats the sound of a Fender Jazz Bass!!!!!

  • @JazzBass7 you dont like his sound? i like it alot

  • @JustusFriedolin My comment meant that I loved his sound!!! I mean the fact that he's playing a Fender Jazz Bass means that it's even better. I just really prefer Fender Jazz Basses over any other bass. His sound is good!

  • @JazzBass7 but its a suhr J style bass ..thats what i meant.. you cant tell by the headstock and the slightly different shape. they make very high quality basses aswell though. maybe now you understand me better. greets. hes got great sound indeed

  • @JustusFriedolin Ooooohhhhh!!!! I understand. Haha, I didn't look at the headstock or anything. I'm fairly still new at bass but Suhr J basses are awesome!!! But yes, I understand you now. Thank you for clearing that up for me!

  • Literally the only thing wrong with this is how speed knobs look stupid on a strat.

  • Orgasmic Funk !!!!!!YEAH ^^

  • Ohhh thats was very funky, good to my ears

  • Coooo・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・・ol

  • chic!!!

  • you can hear where Marcus Miller got his influences from!

  • you can as well read, rather than hear it in m.m.'s website, he lists several influences, including chic, t.o.pewer, ewf etc.

  • thanks for that, I'll have a look. I'll have to look more into those bands for more influences for my bass playing :)

  • I think otherwise. This guy here is influenced by Marcus Miller !

  • I think Marcus is a bit younger bassfeile!

  • I think he's older .

  • NIIIIICE, more than nice... amazing style

  • BRILLIANT

  • have always been amazed at and influenced by dynamism and grooviness of both rhythm guitars and basses at chic albums,

    and once again here

    thanks for sharing

  • The Original Bassplayer from "chic" is Bernard Edwards . Not this one here in the vid . Bernard does not use Fender Jazz Bass.

  • thanks for the info man,

i couldnt notice it since my knowledge of chic is solely through their wonderful albums,

bass player here is no joke either though, not Bernard Edwards as he might be :)

  • by the way, that's not a fender, it's a sadowsky metro...

  • This design is made in 1962 by C.L.F. under the Name Fender Jazz Bass. In these days nearly every guitarcompany build this model in a better or more bad way. But I'm sure about, the sadowsky basses made in a good quality. I think they use selected wood and the headstock is a little different. Thank you

  • funky funkY FUNKAAYYY!!!!!

  • This is cool playing

  • this is raw awesomeness omg

  • The best of the best! So funky!!!

  • ultra cool

  • BRILLIANT BRILLIANT

  • Bass looks like a fender precision to me.

  • So change your screen setings. Or your glasses.

  • It´s a 100% Jazz-Bass!!!

  • Anyone knows the brand on this bass guitar ?

  • Pensa Custom Bass Guitars

    :)

  • Let the funk god be with me, Amen

  • Bonjour, ce DVD existe-t-il dans le commerce?

  • oui

  • Et comment s'appelle t-il? ;p

    Merci

  • "Nile Rodgers & Chic Live at Montreux"

Ce que nous apprend le message juste avant le tien tout simplement ;-)

    Enjoy !

  • Héhé ok faut que je me rachète un cerveau.

    Merci pour l'info.

  • This DVD is called "Nile Rodgers & Chic Live at Montreux" I got my copy at either Best Buy or Circuit City. Great concert...

  • yeah! funk it baby!!

  • Sak Passe'

  • What's the bassist's name?

  • Jerry Barnes...

  • im 35 and im very familier with chic.replacing bernard edwards in any sense of the term is impossible..I like Nile because he is still out there playing giving people a good time and making it an event..the man has done damn well considering the ups and downs in his life..if there was no bernardedwards then they may have never been a john taylor as a bass player..when i heard duran duran and wham as a kid it made me want to pick up bass..long live john taylor and deon estus RIP bernard edwards!

  • Nile said after Bernard passed he never even thought about playing another Chic song. That was until Jerry Barnes called him up and told Niles if you ever play Chic music again he wanted to play. Nile said himself after 5 minutes of hearing Jerry he hired him on the spot...

  • WOOOOOOOW!

  • I'm sorry but IMHO that slap technique on the bass is all too generic and overused and it does not make up for true talent. Chic's original bassist, Bernard Edwards rarely slapped and popped his bass yet had a rich style that is hard to follow and helped make Chic what Chic was. Slapping the bass should be like hot sauce on a taco, not the taco itself. It should be like "garnish" relative to normal bass playing, otherwise it gets cheesy real fast. Like a song full of clavinet, it gets old fast.

  • Let´s not get all sour and frustrated here ;)This is a solo feature dude, not a song.. This ís the hot sauce on the taco! I have seen better solo´s though..

  • I agree wholeheartedly, Thopter; Bernard plucked with the first two fingers mostly, he only slapped as an accent to the previous note. The bassline to "Good Times" is sheer virtuosity...PEACE.

  • @Thopter True.. But no one gets sick of Stevie Wonder's Superstition ;)

  • My god ..... it's so good !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nile has his clique and he's very good at what he does.I think you're taking it a little too serious mkdrum. They're just jamming, not competing with LJ and PJ. and the do rock the house. PJ is an exellent guitarist. I wish i could play like him, but everyone does what they do best. There's no competion here. Everyone has there own favorite.

  • I gotta admit I was in a funk --- sorry --- and missing me good ol fashion authentic Chic groove! Hey I love Nile too, he's the reason I play a Strat. It's just this "jam" seems more fun to play than to listen to.

  • mkdrum....if you listen to any of chic old stuff...you note that Nile Rodgers always kept in the rhythm pocket with his solos...he's from the disco era not funk and thrashing and slashing just wasn't way we played because dancing to our music was the thing we wanted and a whaling guitar solo was just out of place.....Damn I miss those days...Are you a drummer?

  • NR is phoning it in, tho. He's a good guitarist, but what he's doing here is pitifully basic and really quite sloppy. Search for "Louis Johnson + Paul Jackson Jr solos" for a great example of guitar and bass funkin' it up. Paul Jackson Jr is the MAN on rhythm guitar!

  • You wrong, though...

  • yeh, i'm just drinking haterade. jammin live is way different than working parts out in the studio

  • Nile says his name is Jerry B

  • The bass player's name is Jerry Barnes...

  • the bass is god

  • oh my fucking motherfucking cocksucking god his great =)

  • pretty much the perfect slap bass tone

  • Bassist isn't a patch on Bernard Edwards !!

  • Who is?

  • THIS GROOVE MAKES MY HAIR STAND ON END

  • Yeah, that drummer holds it down so well!

  • my name is Tony Howard AKA Chocolate Chip drummer and entertainer for the ntranze band house band for the house of blues in myrtle beach sc i hell out of a small town call robersonville nc i played in a band with jerry barnes this guys the best bass player ever. hey jerry you still rock!!!!!!!!!!

  • Come on now your streching it alittle aren't you? Best bass player ever? Oscar Alston from the Stone City Band can jam and go take aloot at Bootsy Collins solo. The one with him in a long Red coat now that is jammin...
