Although if you want to be serious about pain in an augmented arm: Jensen has prosthetic legs and feet. Try standing in fire, or an electrified pool of water. You can hear him grunt in pain.

@182crazyK Both arms were clearly amputated cleanly off and rebuilt from scratch, the legs aren't as fully augmented and probably retain his flesh and bone if it was encased in any way I can't remember if his legs are normal still or not, only really see his chest, head and arms. Comparing legs to the idea of him saying owww to his arms though isn't a good comparison at a serious angle easily :/

Also, well, obviously electricity would travel throughout his entire body, not just legs

@Mounce2 I see your point on the electricity. However, it was stated in an e-mail (I forget which one) that one arm and one leg had to be amputated to save Jensen, and the other limbs were amputated at request of Sarif. He wouldn't amputate one and encase the other; there would be no point.

Also, the point I was trying to make is that if pain receptors were in a leg, they would most likely be in an arm.

true but its possible that pain receptors could be switched off/dulled down so to speak, in combat scenareos, after all he can control the communications inplant in his head so why not the pain feedback form the aug limbs?

Uh no the force of his punch is transferred through the helmet. Nothing wrong here. If you get hit with a blunt force wearing a helmet the motion is still transferred into your skull and it will hurt like a bitch if not knock you out. Try wearing a bucket and have your friend hit you with a bat and see if it works.

@Tarik360 actually it makes some sense. a bullet has a lot of velocity behind it, but it is still a relatively small object, and nothing is imposing force on it past the initial shot.

a fist has much more mass to it, and in this case has force acting on it even after it makes contact, plus, it is using the weight of adam jensen as leverage.

But the principle here is different: it's like explosives. Just consider the shockwave generated by the impact of Adam's fist with the helmet similar to the shockwave generated by an explosion. Unless a kinetic barrier is in place, the shockwave will propagate through the protective materials and do serious damage inside them.

It actually makes sense, logically. The helmet armor is designed to avoid penetration, that's the point of it...

...but it's probably not designed with blunt-force shock absorption in mind for dealing with a servo-powered steel and carbon-fiber weapon (i.e. Jensen's arm) hitting with something 500+ pounds of point-blank strength.

theres a difference between impact and pierce. helmets will stop bullet piercing, but not impact. but i do agree the game mechanics needs a lil bit of work.

seeing how police squad in first mission, sneeze, cough, and wave their hands to get the fly off their face even theyre fully armored.
