  • Page was a studio wizard... But live, man, he could suck some serious balls... I guarantee you that if you went to see a bar band, and their guitarist played a Zep song as sloppy as Page did at a lot of Zep shows, that bar band guitarist would be booed and called a hack by folks in the bar.

  • @termsofusepolice Get the bootleg "Listen to this Eddie" of them in the LA Forum in 1977. He sure don't suck there.

  • You can't see it on the video here, but in higher def clips you see that Jimmy's black shirt has a skull embroidered very subtly in the fabric. Which is classic. I'm a Zep fanatic, and I should probably say something more substantial than that, but I just thought I'd mention it. I used to watch this MTV special all the time and loved it. A favorite moment was when Jimmy mocked the critics, saying how what he was doing went right over their heads. Check my channel for good raw blues, btw...

  • I've seen this in 1990 on MTV. When the Remasters Box came out it was the first time after the split that something Zep got released. There's always been tons of compilations and live stuff from other bands but next to nothing from them. The fact that this was broadcast a long ten years after the split but it's 20 years gone from now dazzles me. And JPJones at 4'20" still cracks me up.

  • "umm excuse me... Are you writing stairway to heaven?"

    Lawl

    XD

  • There was nothing like Led Zeppelin.

  • "Three wise men at the door...excuse me...are you writing "Stairway To Heaven"?.....hahahha

  • "It's the variety that keeps Zeppelin alive" - Absolutely!

  • Too bad JPJ was like drop out of Led, even tho he was the glue and moving force for the band...

  • Switch on that Beta-Translator(only windows 7 I guess).When Page speaks

about the double-neck(or s.th. like this) it translates actually into"killing people"

and so on.I think the translator is right.Thumbs up!

  • i remember seing this the first time 20 years ago being in the finnish army.been a zepfan for about 2 years then,i was surpriced the way jimmy talked. He seemed so nice and gentle here, then i saw another interw from rai1,where he seemed to be in irritated mood, also 1990 quoted, How many keyboardheroes are there?following a question if guitar was still in fashion.

  • I love the way jimmy talks, you can only understand about half the words that come out of his mouth lol

  • @bacala777 you will love JPJ even more then.

  • i like how it included some footage of Knebenworth 1979 the very last concert Zeppelin ever played with Bonham....but the sad part about that show was plants voice was way out of wack ...but after they seperated plants voice came back with a fury in the 80s and 90s ....and of course you get to the 2000s were his voice in my opinion is the greatest voice in ROCK N ROLL HISTORY LONG LIVE ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!

  • @AxeNoter led zeppelin's last ever concert was july 7, 1980

  • they showed seattle 77, awesome. its rarely seen

  • music television. it used to play music. nowadays rock radio plays 4 songs each by: led zeppelin, the eagles, boston, lynyrd skynrd. 3 each by the who, the stones, styx, foreigner, 2 each by steve miller, zz top, u2, genesis, yes. Variety is not the spice of ClearChannell.

  • the audio complete set is around $90. the fancy box set is around $50, but it is missing some songs

  • how much is the led zeppelin box set?

  • So sad to watch Knebworth footage, knowing it was all to be over the following year and yet the Knebworth concert is my favorite concert footage of Zep.

  • @FretNotMySweet yeah, same here. Achilles Last Stand from that show is phenomenal.

  • @AlexBellis666 I agree that the Knebworth show from the 4th is pretty good, but the one on the 11th... not so much.

  • "and she was so overjoyed we'd used the family name..." I simply love Jimmy being ironic xD

  • kurt loder is a constipated jerk!

  • Only thing Led Zeppelin stole was my fucking state of mind.

  • People say Zep stole the blues from the old black men, and their country from the folk men....You know what?If they stole blues then so did The Who, so did ZZ Top, so did Thin Lizzy.

Fuck that! Led Zeppelin came with all those riffs, with all those lyrics, and alll those god damn grooves! They didn't stole no shit from damn blues men, or country old dude motherfucker!

Led Zeppelin is Led Zeppelin, and the definition to "perfection" is called Led Zeppelin,

    LED FUCKING ZEPPELIN!

  • led zeppelin didnt steal anything, they just push those genres to higher ground.

  • Comment removed

  • You fuckin nailed that one my brother! Zep has no equal!

  • i think those people are referring to the amount of zeppelin songs, from the earlier albums, that were covers of old blues songs, done in zeppelins own style.

you need to find out more about what you're talking about and then you won't be such a dick... see how that works? probably you don't.

  • @darknessgodzamorak

They took blues to a whole new level that nobody had even conceived of before. For that reason the get more creative credit than anyone they borrowed from.

  • @darknessgodzamorak haha they stole so many lyrics its amazing you never noticed. the lemon song is 90% country old dude motherfucker! that dont bother me at all and they are still one of the greats. if your comment is serious then you need to listen to some old shit.

  • @darknessgodzamorak

yeah, o.k. now take your xanax, and roll over.

  • @darknessgodzamorak You can't say they didn't "borrow" - but your point about everyone "borrowing" is valid. All the bluesmen stole from one another - but they also didn't make shit tons of money off the music.

  • OMG JPJ comment on "what was it like writting stairway to heaven?" was fucking hilarious.. xD

    but he's right though..

  • It's a Danelectro by Sears Roebuck, I think

  • what is that guitar that jimmys got. the black and white one with the long pickguard?

  • I just love Jimmy Page... He is just awesome =)

  • yeah i think about how awsome pagey is every day =D

  • jpj's comment on stairway made me crack up,

...people used to say "what was it like writing stairway to heaven?" as if it were like 3 wise men had come knocking on the door and said 'excuse me, are you writing stairways to heaven here?'

  • Greatest Band EVER. There will NEVER be another one like this.

    THE MIGHTY ZEPPELIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • OMG JIMMY AT 6:08!!

  • That is called Heroin!

  • I love their ending comments on this part about In Through The Out Door. Even towards the end of their active Zeppelin careers, they still made fun of the media. :P

  • 5:55 and then !!

  • This is awesome

  • music went shit in the 90s

  • hard to believe something worth watching actually came on mtv

  • MTV was actually good to watch up until mid to late 90s, then it went to hell

  • i feel the same way

  • @ZoSoRecords - Yeah, all thanks to Real World and all that fuckin' bullshit. In fact, that fuckin' show pretty much KILLED television as a whole and maybe our goddamn civilization as well.

  • @PageandPlant4Life Yeah.. they actually cared about actual music videos and not reality shows back then.....

  • Jimmy Page I mean!!

  • He's so soft spoken!! I love him so much!!!

  • auh i love him so much...auh.......oooh..

  • what are you fucking crazy!? he is the most exciting, creative guitar player and has the fattest, most powerful tone.

    you sir, have NO soul.

  • you are an idiot .

  • well, it works for the millions and millions of fans.

  • Robert wants to give everyone his love.....ok, i wouldn't pass it up..lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • JIMMY PAGE IS GOD.

  • thanks so much!!! Best band!!!

  • jimmy page always was a skkinny person but it fits him! sometimes joe perry looks a little little little bit like jimmy page

  • they were all a bit egomanic people without bonzo but thats why they had success and of course of their atractiv and their lyrics and tunes

    R.I.P John Bohnham

maybe they will do a riunen word tour that woould be great with jason bonham again

  • Logan Plant 30 years old the son of robert plant was a model and he is now married and if he colours his hair blond than he really looks almost like his father robert yeah

  • he got a son and he is about nineteen years old so if you wanna have a small jimmy page then get his son maybe he looks so atractiv like he does llollll

and yeah if you wanna have a younger robert plant he also have a son who is about 19 years old so young girls if you fast than catch them before their married lol XD

  • At 1:40 don't you think that Robert seems DUSTIN HOFFMAN???? lol

  • awesome

  • "Are you writing Stairway to Heaven here?!"

    LMAO

  • I love JPJ from 4:18

  • I LOVE Jimmy's hair in this vid.

  • Where's Jones?

  • He's in part 2!!

  • hes at 4:23

  • I LOVE THE Part where bobby plant talks about

    Stairway to Heaven

he says people used to slow hand clap the thing cause they didni't know what it was!!!

  • I really appreciate the guy that put this documentary I love to see old 60's and 70's rock films because I like the bad quality of the footage (I know it sound really odd but thats the way I like it HAHA i like it)

  • they were a fantastic band! i hope they go on another tour! jimmy and robert really are intelligent you can tell when they talk.

  • I love Jimmy's Dragon Suit :D

I'd pay any amount of money for a suit just like it xD

  • I would pay more!!!!!!

    just kidding

  • You can get one made for cheap lol... If u want his shirt it is probably going to costs you in the millions since its in the Rock n roll hall of fame somewhere.

  • Baroness Zeppelin was not overjoyed that they were using the family name at all! She actually said, "A bunch of screaming monkeys are not going to destroy a family name." She huffed and she puffed and she blew the house down.

  • Nice shirt Robert !

  • VERY COOL stuff, never will be a group as great as these guys

  • Not one of the biggest radio hits the biggest.

  • Awesome stuff. Thanks for posting!

  • everyone thinks bonzo Wasnt involved with stairway to heaven but his drums are phenomenal on stairway to heaaven

  • I agree with Robert.."Variety is what kept Zeppelin alive"

  • jimmy freakin page!

  • jimmy's hair got curlier. i wonder what he did to it, because it never looked that curly before.

  • It's called a perm.....

  • sound quality on the live cuts suck

  • well the technology in the 80s is not quite like it is now

  • @ZoSoRecords 60's and 70's you mean.

  • What year was this documentary, anyone?

  • sometime between 1990-93

  • @ZoSoRecords i think this is really 1990. That was the year the Remasters thing just came out, and this documentary (or "rockumentary-as MTV used to call them) was in the promotional bussiness. I like the way they had edited this, is very enjoyable for me... it's just made me think how great was that band... Zeppelin, oh My god!!!

  • @hazel10987 it was released in 1990 along with the box set; I'll never forget it because, like millions of other fans, I was hoping for a reunion/tour.

  • @hazel10987 I think it was summer or fall 1991 because I videotaped it off the original

broadcast on MTV Rockumentary. (I may still have it. Have to check...)

  • Is there more to this... interview/documentary???

  • Sorry sorry sorry. I just noticed that this was pt. 1 .

    Nevermind.

  • NP.. hope you enjoy!

  • Does anybody knows why there isn't anything about the '77 US tour

  • Anywhere you see Jimmy in the white dragon suit, are scenes from 77 US tour shows.

  • it seattle 1977, it looks like its from the master copy!!

  • john paul jone is the part of zeppelin soul if not all. yeah sure other can take his place but he was there from the begining!

  • JPJ was the only stable member that always delivered; Jimmy Page was the soul of Zeppelin though, when he was too smacked out, Zeppelin lost direction.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    He Jimmy's ancient!!!!

  • HAHAHA that was funny what Jonesy said about the 'three wisemen'. "Excuse me, are you writing Stairway to Heaven?"

  • put jonesys name in the title dude he always gets overshadowed

  • every1 loves led zep. who doesn't?

  • Best band in the world.

  • I gues it is possible to find, but it is not mixed. But thanks anyway;)

  • Great video. I wish they could relase the consert inn seattle 1977.

  • Do a search on Yahoo shopping for the 1977 Seattle show on DVD. I know it's on there...

  • great video, thanks

  • They are the best, Jp isnt as eloquent a speaker as Robert, he is more shy and and quiet a genius.

    ozone---peace

  • they are for sure

  • Have been awed and dazzled by Led Zeppelin's work for 30 years. Must confess that Stairway to Heaven is my least-favorite, though. Nearly every track on Physical Graffiti rocked my world, so this as a whole is my #1. Its mix of acoustic guitar, keyboards, and the blues showed even more mind-boggling range/talent. Record execs are morons for saying "stick with a formula." LZ was too unique to even create a formula, which is exactly why their work has stood the test of time.

  • they r just the legends

  • Led Zeppelin definetly are the best blues/rock/folk rock band ever!
