She's probably trying not to overuse her voice like she did for Volta. That took a toll, and it shows when she sings in Biophilia. She can still hit the same notes, but she chooses not to, as to not damage her vocal chords.

the music in this version is really cool. the vocal is sung in a deeper regester probably to accomodate the deepening of her voice due to age. still i like this better than her new material as i am not digging the biphilia songs that much. was hoping her new album would be better than volta but so far, it doesnt seem to be the case. just my opinion.

@fundies2 I was a little turned off to the Biophilia songs too until I started looking into how they were made, the lyrics, the meaning. I have a deeper appreciation for them now : ) Among my favourites are Thunderbolt, Cosmonogy, Hollow and Mutual Core~ <3

@SeanAbesto cool that your liking the new songs now. i think i am going to wait and hear the album first before buying it though. in the past, i would buy her albums before listening and would never be dissapointed up until medulla ( a little dissapointed) and then volta (a lot dissapointed).

@fundies2 That's probably a good idea~ There's no point in buying an album if you don't like it, right? Only makes sense. And you were dissapointed in Volta? : O I have that CD and love it~ The only song I actually despise with a passion on that album is "The Dull Flame of Desire" and that's cause of the guy's voice who's singing with her. Everything else I loved~ Ah well, maybe Biophilia will be new and different for you ^^
