this seems complicated... i simply make a backup of my dev folder on the end of the day and upload it to dropbox... maybe svn is something different, after watching this video i still doesnt know what it is
@WindowsSoftwareDe You're exactly right. It's like Dropbox-- files you can store online with version control and comments. This tutorial was created before Dropbox was popular, but your comment is a much simpler way of explaining svn.
Brilliant and clear! I tried other tutorial and I couldn't understand a word. And not too fast at all ... have you guys tried using the pause button and taking notes?
DatMiningLab tutor, thank you. My entire web knowedge was html and a bit of magento, but thanks to you I am now using SVN!!
"...Subversion is a way of turning in your projects. Instead of only running the test driver yourself, you load it onto subversion, give the TAs your username, and then they run their test driver against your code on their machine. All you need to load are your java files into specified lab1, lab2, etc. folders that you create in your repository."
Simply stated, the TAs run a tester and students must organize their code into project folders (lab1, lab2, etc.) so TAs can find it.
Ok, i falwcans dont know why but hourseezzzerheekheek, the fruitkan SVN checkout finaly appears... I had to click the Installer then cancel then it finaly appeared, wthafak i mad. ARRGAAAHHHH
I cant find SVN checkout in the context menu. Iv used Tortoise SVN in the past and it works but i cant find it. Could it be i have too many programs taking up the context menu space? I cants findis isit.
Thank you for speaking so fast...so tired of all the extra wasted time hearing people swallowing and jabbing along to slowly. I wanted to quickly learn how to use subversion .... excellent
@97ruben - you have to download and install tortoise svn like shown in the first part of the video and the options will automatically appear when you right-click.
by the way, if you click on the description for this video, there are step-by-step written instructions for uploading new code to the repository.
What is the purpose for SVN programs such as TortoiseSVN?
