  • When I first heard about imprinting, I assumed it was more of a "guardian" than "lover" thing, which potentially makes the concept less squicky. Heck, if Jacob, after imprinting, suffered like crazy and ultimately left in a final fight for his free will, it would have been fantastic drama.

  • no one should go on the website of thedarksidecometh.... i closed the stupid window and like a fuckin thousand came up!....

  • And then, you have to remember, in Renesme's case, she's growing up extremely fast. She's going to be his age in about a month.

  • I'm not taking your side on this, because I'm supporting Stephenie on this, but I do want to make a comment. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like you get the concept of imprinting that well.

The person that was imprinted on is not FORCED to love the imprinter, but the person who imprinted is whatever the person imprinted on needs in their life. Why would you NOT want to be with someone that's perfect for you? They still have a choice, but why would they NOT choose that person?

  • look I just have to say that Stephenie didn't wrote the book thinking.

"Oh I am gonna make Jacob think that when she gets older their gonna have sex" what imprinting is, is that they are like soul mates they are just suited for each other. You can't honestly think Jacob thinks.

"can't wait till she's of age. I'm gonna give her puppies," he just wants her to be happy. They say if she wants to be with another guy then OK she can, he just wants her to be happy. It is about happiness not sex...

  • LOL U got that TOTALLY write..she wrote the book NOT thinking.

OMG You Twilight lovers fails...FAIL at properly defending this stuff. I can't even read what else you wrote because....that had made my day--THANKS!

  • Why don't you get over it? It's just a book...

It's my opinion. And you're 13. There are things you just don't get yet. (Yeah, I said it.)

Trust me, I am far from wrong on this one.

  • yeah i know.. but seriously your my idol.. you said the real trith about the books and said things i couldn't have said but really ment... i hope you do more videos soon

    YOU ROCK!

ARE YOU PLANNING ON DOING ANY SOON?

  • i agree with you... Jacob is a weird stalker

  • I think Jacob pushed himself on Bella, and I didn't like him b/c of that. But when it comes to the Mutant Spawn, I put all blame on SM and her stupid "bound to that person" rules. Imprinting was created simply so that Jacob would stay in Bella's life, b/c there is no way people would have bought it any other way. Too mad a lot of us didn't buy it anyway...

  • wow Baka-ha bet you dont know wat that means it in japanese

  • -_- Wow, anime fantard who thinks they can speak "a little" japanese.

  • 日本語が本当に話せる? しんじられない...あなたは13歳のおたく、ね。

  • it means 'stupid'

a perfect description of you :D

  • Helena.

That's not a Mormon practice. We don't promise girls to old men. We marry whoever we want to marry, and NOT when we are children. Mormons belong to the LDS church.

The church you are thinking of-- the one on the news a few weeks ago-- is the FLDS church. There is no affiliation between the church Stephenie (and I) belong to and the FLDS church.

Thought I'd clear that up. I don't want my church getting slammed because Smeyer is an idiot.

  • "It's no wonder truth is stranger than fiction. Fiction, after all, has to make sense".-- Mark Twain.

Regardless of whether or not it's fiction, it's going to be criticized. If she is an author (aka a public figure), she is going to be criticized. That's what book reviewers have been doing since the dawn of time.

  • Fiction or not, she's SUPPORTING adult men claiming infants. If I wrote a fiction story about killing (insert minority group here), I'd sure as hell be bashed for it.

Any respect I had for her was lost when she suggested that women don't have the right to choose who they love, and that children are objects to be claimed. It is foul and out of bounds. The fact that you think it's okay simply b/c it's fiction means you know it's NOT okay in the real world. That should make it wrong in her books.

  • In 3 Little Pigs we know who the bad guy is, and he gets what's coming to him in the end. SM GLORIFIES this despicable practice and has her "good guys" do it. That is blatant support for the idea in question.

She should be held accountable for this, "fiction" or not.

  • i see what your saying, but the girls arent the ones who imprinted the guys did, that doesnt mean the we dont have a choice because we do, its the guys who dont, which is wrong.

  • Her book is being criticized because it was total crap. Plot holes, bad editing, exposition of characters was LOST, the list is long....can you say "SUCK MUCH"?? As for imprinting, if you think that is something YA's should be reading, man you need a fucking head check. How about the head board and pillow part eh? Wait, don't tell me, you must be 15......

  • um no im not 15, and i like the books, so i was just stating my opinion. i didnt want to argue with any one, i was just stating what i thought about it.

  • hmmm, there's nothing sexier than raising your own wife :)

  • where are the links? i would loved to read them all, i need some laughs in my life after breaking dawn.

  • There's a little box on the right that says "more info" and if you click on more info it will show all of the links. :)

  • If Meyer hadn't put the kabosh on imprinted girls having Free Will, she could have had a great plot wherein a werewolf imprinted on someone who -didn't want him back.- That would be interesting. And realistic. And fun. And involve suffering. However, these are Meyer's Strictly Forbidden Characteristics of Writing, so kabosh it is.

Someone needs to write a fanfic in which Renesmee decides at the ripe old age of ten or whatever that she doesn't want to get with her uncle/brother/thing.

  • The step dad comment reminds me of the Woody Allen scandal where he married and later reproduced (I think) with one of his adopted daughters. That situation is wrong on so many levels and whether Allen's daughter/current wife was made to feel that way about him or if she later developed feelings is unknown to me. However the situation is similar to Jacob's situation and you should point it out. Granted 'Nessie' isn't Jacob's adopted daughter but she might as well be imo.

  • I could look it up, but I'm not that motivated. I think Satan got pissed off, so God let him leave and some went with him. I guess that in not leaving with him the other angels were choosing to stay, but I've always seen it as like, those that left were unhappy with their given life so he released them. But it wasn't so much that he rounded everyone up and gave them a choice.

Regardless, the point is that even now we have the option of loving or not loving, and that's an important part of it.

  • I'm sorry, but imprinting on a little girl seems eerily like ther extremist mormon practice of promising little little girls to older men. I'm sure Stephenie didn't mean it to come out that way but...yeah. Also, remember that according to the story, one third(?) of the angels in heaven CHOSE to follow Satan in his rebellion. So the rest CHOSE to follow God.
