i think it's not maxed out because there's no dirt on the windshield when the water splashes on it.

when it's on ultra there's dirt when it's on high or less then there's none.

Hey men, you will have the same issue with the full game when you buy't.

 I got an HD4890 and have the same problem inside the trailer ¬¬. Check on Ati's page for an update on Catalyst Ati Driver. It work fine for me.

I have the same problem like you, the fps in the menu is like 3fps but at a race its 30-40fps, that sucks but the game is awesome

If you r using ATi graphics cards, just updated your driver to 9.11.

And everything will work fine.

game only supports DX9 and DX11 . So there is no DX10 features.  How the hell u guys manage to get DX10 or .... ?

One up now, uploading a better one with higher settings anti aliasing higher etc, i can run the game at 20-32fps no max settings spart from the ultra settings turned to high, on DX9 xp, will try dx10 tomorrow.

How? when it is recorded by fraps you plonk, you realise it kills your fps.

well i use fraps as well andh e has a bit better card then me, but the key is to set the recording to 24 fps which means the fps wont drop much maybe to 20 so the vid looks good. If you let it record at watever it wants it can go from 100 to 30 or 20 to 50, which will lag. If you look at my channel in my nfs shift vids i do exactly that, i still lag a bit but not as much :)

need for speed has bad performance on many good cards though, badly optimised. Although a great looking game maxed out.

kinda but on my old 8800 ultra i get 65 fps and it only droped to like 59.

yeah i need a 8800GTS as bare minimum in my next upgrade, they are extremely cheap nowadays, old £200 cards 2 years ago! People don't realise what great gamer cards are, they end up getting crappy 8400gss etc lol for more money.

naw you can get a 4890 which should be the lowet card you get. Here in canada i can get a 4890 for 130 bucks used and 155 new :). OR you can get a 260 GTX 4 the same price :)

Well, I use 60 fps option to record this, and while I'm recording, I got about 50 fps.

yea but the drop from 60 to 50, back to 60, then to 50 makes it lag. Set fps to 30 or 24 for a perfect quality vid

Are you saying that the video running at 60hz while the game runs at 50 makes it seem laggy?

Or are you suggesting the game ranging from 50-60 fps is worse then a locked 30fps or 24 fps?

If you precive it that way, I can't argue that, But I'd rather have it at 50-60 FPS.

Games can often range in frame rate anyways, 30 FPS is not very smooth.

30 fps is the rate you should have it at when you RECORD gameplay. When you play a game you shuld have 60 fps or 74 stable :)

I gotchya. I miss my CRT days, 100FPS ( probably wasn't stable though). I got a 5870 so most everything is 60fps rock solid.

lol on a 8800 ultra on dx 9 everything @ MAX i get 55 fps staight. dirt 2 is a bad looking game on the textures but i gotta see it on dx 11 :)

Ya, Its a shame they don't really developed for PC, Hell even a 8800 is capable of more then most games out there I upgraded from 2 8000GT's in SLI, BTW don't go SLI with those. Even with higher performance then a 280GTX the experience is not as good.

The frame rates just does not account for the difference.

I still want to play Dirt 2 though, as it came with my card, I was kind disappointed yesterday to turn on my comp, and see it not DLed.

mmm ditt 1 is better then dirt 2 , bcuz dirt 1 was REAL RALLY, not american rally going off stupid 4 foot jumps lol. In dirt 1 there was only European style rally, none of the x- games bs. The only good thing about dirt 2 is updated cars + dx 11, but less then 100k people have a DX 11 capable card rofl

I never bought or played Dirt 1, Honestly I like sim racing games more. So is their no Euro style rally at all ? I don't mind mixing it up but I hate rally games where its all curcit tracks.

no no no, Colin McRae Rally 1 was REAL rally, every other game in the CM series from CM2-Dirt2 was not REAL rally ;)
