I just saw you and the Zimmers on German TV SWR (south-west region Baden-Baden). They had a saturday evening show with people who started into a new life after 60. Great song like always.
You read so wonderfully. Somehow we need more people to read poems to each other. My husband has done do often but not recently. I need to revive the idea for both of us.
Thank you for showing us your art :). And I DO think it is art - some people will get it, and some won't but the important thing is that you as the artist feel you've created something that conveys your message effectively.
You may not don the leathers anymore, my friend, but the poem and art piece on your porch is still your patch of defiance, is it not? Kindred spirits do not dwindle away with time, and I would still lift a pint with you in a local pub.
I must say, seeing that work on your porch might make me more inclined to want to visit. I don't check in too often anymore but when I do you make me smile!
i like the thought behind the piece but,im not alltogether sure about the deeased rat lol,im glad you did this for two reasons, people can see what interests you as the person and as the creator and, youre reading a poem, there isnt enough of them here on youtube, sadly.
"To resist the frigidity of old age one must combine the body, the mind and the heart - and to keep them in parallel vigor one must exercise, study and love."
Being an artist myself, I can appreciate the message. Yet, I must say, this was not an 'uplifting' poem to start my day off with and it left me wanting to be listening to some happy music. I'd rather dwell in the positive present, than in thoughts of decrepidation and death!
Oh...Oh my. Most certainly too real for me. I suppose I must be trying to create a Disneyland in my head ...just the colorful places filled with joy, silliness and glee....and hoping it will "stick"...and if successful, I will then become senile in this state of childlike wonder. I do hope a dead rat does not fit in my picture. Of course you never said it was biographic! (If this made no sense, chaulk it up for being 2:00 AM, please)
I don't know Peter! Is this modern art or are you putting us on? I can see you got a real fan in "ffMv7ff" and I must say I don't quite get the dead rat, but then I don't swoon over graffiti either, so I guess, I am just not with it. When you said the word "lust" I expected something entirely different, but then you made up for it with the poem. Rock on Peter, we love you.
Love you GrandDad. I could listen to you recite poems, read stories all day long. You have a soothing voice that relaxes me. Would you consider doing this more often. I miss my grandfather and just love hearing your stories. It reminds me so much of him.. Please oh Please :)) Take Care... Tess In Ireland
And what a perfect coupling - your artwork & that wonderful poem...I'm sitting outside in the sun here in Southern CA, but I still experienced the chill & the dark truth (& beauty) viscerally.
Odd, that same theme keeps popping up in my life. I wonder what the universe is trying to tell me. As for the rat... I only have a mummified mouse...oh, and found another treasure on my walk, Sunday.. a hawk pellet. I'm going to refrain from exploring that.
You look very... eh i dunno the word,, energetic perhaps? in this vid :D i think that i can tell your outside not because of just the traffic in the background but because of the way you're moving (and of course your coat) but regardless you look happy =D... you're ART is vair nice;)
"It's freezing cold out here" yeah i thought so:P sorry that i commented before the end of the video but but but, i wanted to comment on what i felt at the time :D!
I went through a terrible "long dark night of the soul." An emotional place of such morbidity that I couldn't share my thoughts with another person for fear of infecting them with it. It took me 2 years to crawl out of the hole. And I can never go back. Not even in the name of art.
It's a lovely thought..finding lust late in life, however, I have to admit that the poem made me feel a bit uncomfortable remembering my own mum's death not all that long ago..her struggle to find each breath. Interesting but a bit ookie, if you get my drift. It's not one I would watch more than once...not many of those anyway..and I hope that I can get to breathing normally in a few minutes..I'm feeling a little like I'm suffocating. On to happier videos. :-)
Hi Peter, maybe you are lucky that I was ill when I was going to visit you because I would certainly have asked you about your work.. I'm not too proud and very inquisitive.
given that I lay near dead merely less than a year ago in my own Husband's arms, neither of us with a clue that such an instance would be encountered in our *near* future....(sigh)
It was only recently, toward the end of my very long recovery that I've begun 2vlog, even just casually.
Exceptional Peter. I've recently been doing my own assessment of my life, my legacy, my purpose. As one gets a little older the thoughts of fanciful dances of days gone by become a bit of a dream rather then reality. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Rottweiler (noun) something that has been allowed to rot awhile.
I have heard that poem before and found it far too heavy. Yes, I love being shallow.
Stick to the essays and cooking shows.
I so wish we were neighbours. I would visit that crazy old man until he started locking the door every morning. It would be the opposite of Elizabeth coming over for a coffee and breaking the Royal Doutlon.
And may I compliment you on your lovely bucket of flower. :)
don't know what to make of that peter. they thoughts that often go through my head, what will my death be like. the only thing that stops me getting depressed over it, is the fact that every body who is dead, has gone through it and come out....but where?
Poetry, and art ... What a delightful surprise, Peter! Your steadily growing and blossoming portfolio of video topics is a sheer pleasure; never a dull moment there :-)!
I like the poem and it goes well with your art...however, I disagree with the last line of the poem. Lust, even "late flowering" lust, should be a joyful thing.
