  • Very good review!...thanks

  • any idea on battery lifespan in years?

  • @chadnvo0 To be honest, I don't know. With moderate use, I would guess probably 2-3 before you would want to look for a replacement, but that is typical for any daily device.

  • can i turn on my computer with it?

and for example.. my home cinema system can switch between matrix, power bass, cinema and stuff, can the harmony control it?

  • @FoodOnCrack I would think that if the computer has an IR receiver and was sleeping you could wake it, but when the computer is actually off I would doubt it. As for controlling it, as long as it has some sort of IR input you could set it up accordingly.

  • Wow. Flat out IMPRESSIVE! And I'm not just talking about the remote. Killer review! I'm on my way to Double B in the morning! Thanks a LOT, man!

  • @TheRobbSki Thanks for the kind words...as long as there are people that enjoy my reviews, I shall continue doing them!

  • @TheRobbSki I appreciate the kind words, I try and give the type of review that I would like to see.

  • What if I wanted to switch over from ps3 to tv without turning the ps3 off?

  • @TonyMalone13 There is a digital button for "Devices", then you select your TV or whatever is controlling which system you want, then change the input. You can manually control every system separately or use the automated Activities function. I do this all the time when I don't want to turn off the system, or if I specifically don't want to kill the PS3 while it is updating, I will chose another activity and cover up the IR blaster so it doesn't turn off the PS3.

  • Hey Gooch, I don't know anyone else that has one of these remotes so I hope you don't mind me asking you a question about it. I bought one yesterday and exchanged it because there was a rattle in the remote if you shake it and there was a screen issue. The replacement remote I received also has a rattle if you shake it. I'm now wondering if this is how they are. Does your have a rattle inside if you shake it?

  • @andymantoronto Yes it does, I believe that is the mechanism that tells the remote if it is moving and then wakes up the screen and backlight. If you shake it, it should light up and turn on the display.

  • Excellent review, I"m now comfortable buying one....Thanks!

  • @andymantoronto Awesome, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Thanks for detailing the configuration software. I was wondering if one of these could duplicate all the miscellaneous and non common functions of a remote.

  • Awesome review my friend. Very informative. You highly rated the Harmony One. I highly rate your review of it. 5 stars. (*****)

  • @kishona69 Thanks, I am glad you enjoyed it!

  • Brilliant review, best on youtube!

  • @ps3consolewar Don't know about that, but I appreciate the comments!

  • @techgooch Hi mate question for you. I had a Harmony 1100 and sold it because of this issue.

When you hit Tv it turns the Tv on and does your PVR etc.

However when you hit Xbox or game or DVD (something else basically) it would then turn the Tv OFF as it was part of that acitivity (turn TV ON).

How have you got past this issues? does the ONE ask before starting an activity or does it remember that the Tv is on?

    Thanks

  • @N3orion I think there are a lot of users in your shoes...some TV's do not have a separate command for On and Off, rather they have a simple On/Off command. So when you hit the button to change activities from watching TV to watching a DVD, the remote sends the commands to your TV - On - Input X...and since your TV doesn't have a separate command for Off, it just turns off. My father in law had this due to the age of his TV...while in my case I have a Sony which has the separate comments.

  • @N3orion simple way to fix that issue: most TVs will also turn on if you hit on of the channel buttons so when I had this problem I edited the activity so the on button was a channel button (say channel 1 ) and the off button was the on/off button. Now if i have the tv on and i hit the watch the dvd button instead of turning the TV off it switches to channel 1 then to AV1 . Even if the TV was off this would work as any of the channel buttons turn it on. Hope this helps

  • great review, beats all the rest i have seen here! i am off to buy one now ...

  • @mooog1 Thanks, I am glad I helped!

  • Congrats...! Great Review !!

  • thanks for the video. what camera do you use?

  • @croterius I use a Sony HDR-CX550V, and I absolutely love it. Check out my review on the website or from my Channel.

  • @techgooch I expected it to be a Sony. It's one of the best. I like also Panasonic and JVC

  • @croterius I hear ya. I have had an RCA and a Panasonic in the past. The Panasonic was nice, but terrible in the dark and couldn't do anything in 0 lux. The nightshot mode on the Sony alone is worth the investment, and the backlit sensor on the new Sony's is awesome in dim light! I have a lot of great things to say about my particular Sony, and love the wide lens on it!

  • Thank you for not unboxing. I think we can all figure that out on our own. :)

  • great review, thank you!

  • how did you get the software to work with windows 7?

  • @xXpsychopathicXx420 You can get the software from Logitech's Software Download Page where you can choose Windows 7 for your OS.

  • Thank's for ur elp i think this remote is for me i cant wait to buy it i went to my local sears aswell i live right near them lol they told me that sure we will price mach what best buy has on it so the remote is like 169.99 so that not bad ,the only thing is i got to wait a little because my friend said that buy the remote when he work's at sears.

  • @joseph10704 Not a problem, I hope you enjoy the remote!

  • @techgooch i went to my local sears i picked up this remote i love it so far now i opedn the box up right and i put the software inside my mac and u know what now they re telling me oh were sorry but are office is closed so i cant do anything today with this remote lol i forgot that it's a sunday and that this software is a online thing and if there office is closed were closed this sucks bad because i was sooo happy lol oh well i guess i got to wake up early and set it up before i go to work.

  • @joseph10704 Sounds like a fun story...glad you like the remote so far!

  • @techgooch yup well i set it up now i place a order for that ps3 adapter so far its kickass got it all working well now thanks for the revew and your comment's back .

  • @joseph10704 Thats the reason I set up this channel, to give my opinions on things that I have so others can make their own sound decision. Thanks again!

  • @techgooch no problem buddy ur video was a big help and it was fun to watch i think i watch it like 5 times all in all lol.so thank u for your wonderful work bro.

  • dude this video helped me out Alot i wanted to buy this remote for a very very long time. But the thing is I am kind of stuck in witch remote i wanted eather this one the harmony one of the one that i really wanted that just for the form factor was the harmony 1100 now the price is alot more then the harmony one but the different's on the 1100 is u get a 3.5 inch touch screen and the body of the remote is why different also with the harmony one u don't get RF control's with the 1100 u do so idk

  • @joseph10704 I can understand where you are coming from. I used to have the Sony RM-AV3100 Touchscreen Remote until I dropped it and the LCD screen broke. While having the extra screen real estate is nice, it also makes it less easy to use and more cumbersome for others who are less tech savvy. One thing is for sure, the small amount of touchscreen on the Harmony One is absolutely awesome, and just enough to keep me happy!

  • @techgooch i like how u think my friend if u dont mind me asking were did u buy this remote and how much did u pay and also did u buy the ps3 adapter yet if so what do u think of it .and i am glad this remote is makeing u happy i love the why it look's and i look up more in for the the reson why some of these remote are aloto of money is only because of the rf built inside of them this one on the other hand is very cheap in cost the most i have seeen it for was 169.99 to me that is a amaziing.

  • @joseph10704 Thanks for the comment. First, I purchased this remote from the Sears Cyber Monday sale ($159 if I remember right). I got the PS3 adapter for Christmas and is works great. I used to use the PS3 controller, but this will make it easier for everyone to use the PS3 as our main Bluray player. In all, I am very glad I purchased the remote, and I love that it is so customizable. I didn't want the RF version because I having the IR blasters on the equipment. Hope this helps, thanks again!
