I had this lock and lost the key for it today, and my enginerring teacher at college had it off my bike in under one min with a hammer and chisel. Just thought I would say how easily this can be broken off.
i have one, but i had to take the batterys out cuz the alarm started to activate by itself randomly.Even after fresh batterys.Don't think i'd buy it again.
As we stated several times in the reviews, motorcycle security is a matter of layers. A siren may discourage some casual theivery. A lock may discourage more serious attempts. A ground anchor and bolt even more. A locked garage more than that. But there is never any single solution. A determined thief will get the item if they want to. The purpose of a disk lock with an alarm is to discourage casual theft. It's certainly better than leaving the bike totally unsecure.
Hard to say - perhaps the module is defective? I would remove the module and shake it to see if it goes off, maybe there's something preventing it from activating when it's installed in the alarm. You could try new batteries also and if all else fails, contact Xena I guess, they seem to have pretty good support.
I have this exact lock also, it also goes off all the time, no matter what position on the disc. It sits in the shed and merrily goes off all by itself, very annoying. No wind, no bumps, it will randomly go off at any time. SOrt of defeats the purpose really. My main reason for the alarmed model was not even theft, it was more as a reminder so I wouldn't ride off with it on.
I have the XR1 I can't fault it too much as it did save my scooter from theives just days after I bought it however I find it randomly goes off for no reason and seems to be overly sensitive, no matter what position I put it on the disc. Meaning most of the time I take it back off again to avoid annoying the neighbours!! I have just bought an Oxford Boss alarm lock to try to get over this problem. Shame as the Xena was a good product.
Even the XR1 is a pretty good alarm. I use it in conjunction with my heftier Motrax Vishas. XN14 has the double locking feature whilst the XR1 is only a push stud.
Sorry lock! I will never buy another one.

Hi Peeps
Does anybody out there know if the Alarm Disc Lock - Xena XN18 will fit nice with the 2007 R6 ?
I used to use the Oxford 14 m Disc lock and want the best Disc lock from Xena.
Like the flashing alarm light, nice idea.

And if you put polyurethane in the soundsystem, you will not hear a damn thing...Just as when my friend his bike got stolen.
morpheus1976 2 years ago
The lock function is the point of the product, not the alarm.
wbwvids 2 years ago
Than why put an alarm in it??
When do have prepared the lock with the polyurethane they can still lift the bike and cut off the lock later.

Have to agree about that, I have the Abus version of this lock. But now I'm looking for some more protection. :)

Next step up from a disk lock is probably either a big chain with lock but to prevent a grab/lift/haul theft, maybe a ground anchor?
wbwvids 2 years ago
We both have the Granit Xtreme and the Granit Xtreme was cut without any problems. They even took the broken chains with them.
Luckily my bike is still standing with 1 disk lock, the granit xtreme and asap a scorpio alarm.
And if they want, they still take it with them .. :((

The batteries should last 8 to 12 months, try calling Xena and they'll help you out

I have that exact same lock and it just went off for no reason. I put it on a few nights ago with no problem. Weird.

This is good idea, it ensures that you wont go with disc lock attached :)
