  • I heard this jam on the show "everybody hates chris" and it took my mind back 2 middle school and a girl i had a big time crush on! she knows i would do anything 4 her and this classic always ran across my mind at the time and it still does today! peace 2 those who know and all those sanging along, we got company lets all sang 2gether!

  • I listen this song many times.

I like this song very much.

    hmm...

but, as a matter of fact

    I don't like this version.

no need to ad-lib, no timpani, no audience voices, I prefer

  • fuck what u heard.Stewart Copeland INVENTED the drums...

  • @princereznor1 I always thought it was a black guy named "CONGO".

  • Saw the show in Amsterdam and fell in love with Stewart Copeland instantly ;-)

This song brings me back to that evening.

  • Ha, did anyone see Andy get hit by Stewart's thrown stick at 3:35?

  • this in a lower key? or is it just me?

  • @kingcherub Good ears! The original chorus is in E, while the reunion version is downtuned 1 1/2 steps to C#... most like for Gordon's voice aging (I believe most of the reunion show songs were downtuned to some degree). Some songs I can immediately notice key changes but this didn't jump out at me, most likely because of the new "Percussion Arrangement" that I dig immensely from the moment I saw them on this tour.

  • Copeland is the king of drums

  • Beautiful song!

  • It was so cool when they started the tour in Vancouver. We'd heard rumors about a reunion 2-3 months before it happened because Sting was hanging around town. Then, after it was announced, they were rehearsing in North Vancouver and fans were going nuts trying to get a sneak peak.

  • Stewart is the best drummer i´ve ever known....

  • Stewart is the best drummer i´ve ever known....he´s playing very good at this song!

  • I wish these lyrics were my life! Haha a girl can dream, right? :)

    The entire song is amazing!!

  • what are the huge black drums at around 1:51 called?

  • @boibad12 Those are called Timpani :)

  • love this rearrangement of this song. Copeland does a great job.

  • Ahhhhhhhhhh QUE PLACER ESCUCHARTE STING....... QUE COLOR DE VOZ, QUE INTERPRETACION . Y CUANTOS NO HEMOS GIRADO POR AMOR ALREDEDOR DEL DEDO DE ALGUIEN...... CERRANDO LOS OJOS Y RECORDANDO !!!!

  • I wonder what more great music they could have made if they could have just stop arguing..

  • They didn't break up because of arguments. In fact, they never actually broke up; Sting put the band on hiatus because he wanted a solo career. .. for 23 years! : )

  • yea, and george washington brought them back to wrigley field!

    how awesome is that?

    XD

  • shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittttttttttttttttttttt i love this music 4 ever from wilbert amadla

  • sting's base line starting at 3:50 is just awesome

  • Was there two shows at seattle? One on the 6th too?

  • Yes. The original show on the 6th sold out really quickly, so they had to add the 2nd show on the 7th.

  • treeeeeeeee meeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnnn dooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • por q bajaron el original?

  • I went to that concert, It was very good, especiaty Copeland in this song. Thanks for sharing.

  • I find it disappointing that Stewart didn't ram one of those timpani onto Sting's head. I guess they have mellowed with old age.

  • Thank you SO much for posting this! We caught them in Tampa, and after being a fan since the early `80's getting to finally see them in concert was a dream come true. This song was probably the highlight of the show (though really everything about it was amazing!).

  • stewart is like no other, he truly is the most professional when it comes to changes up his performance, and in just making on of the greatest police songs every written, he is the best drummer in rock history in my opinion, and whether anybody thinks differently, then they can use this video as proof..great video it deserves 100,000 more views.

  • He is great.

  • Awesome !!!!!!!!

  • What king of bass drum is that that he is using when he does his percussion piece? Which by the way was great and i love this song

  • Its not a bass drum, its a gong drum, only made by Tama.

  • The thing I personally like best about him is that, unlike most drummers, he doesn't just stick to the drum set, he has an arsenal of other percussion instruments that he incorporates into his music, giving all of those unique sounds that you only hear in music by the police. Stewart Copeland is the best.

  • I agree not many drummers can tinker around with an extra set and even get back to the regular set right on beat every time

  • copeland is the man.

  • No doubt about it.

  • The Police have been my favorite band since I was a boy (born in 1976). When MTV hit the airwaves in 1981, I was first exposed to their material from the Ghost in the Machine album. Since then, I became a Police fan forever!!!

  • thanks for posting! saw them live the night before your show in vancouver - GM place. stewart copeland live by himself was worth it. absolutely amazing drummer!!! thanks for capturing this moment...

  • VINNIE COLAIUTA

  • great video!

    :)

  • i love the guitar in this song

  • Percussion in this song is just amazing... saw them in SLC, awesome !

  • if anyone really likes copelands style check out the band MuteMath.the drummer darren king is a lot like this guy espicialy during the begining of this video with the percussion.but if you like copeland youll love darren king.a live video of the song "break the same" is a good comparison between copeland and king.

  • I love how he just throws his mallets before he starts playing his kit.

  • I love Stewart's playing. However, listening to him talk makes really want to not like him. Another one who falls into the "shut up and play" category.

  • Wow. Hearing what he has to say makes me love him even more! Whatever, dude.

  • I always thought he seems like a pretty cool guy...don't know what you hate about him.

  • Ya I seen a documentury he put out. When he was touring wit the Police round like 80-83 i believe most the footage was from. Most the time he comoplained and I was thinking ya some things about being on tour alot mit suck mate, but ur in one of the greatesat bands n the world how bout talking bout some of the good times and how amazing it was to be worshiped like gods back then.

  • Saw these guys two weeks ago. They still got it, one of the best concerts I've been to.

  • I love Stewie - he's awesome! Saw them at Fenway last year - had the best time of my life!!! Great concert!

  • ino you'll probably abuse me ..

    cos im english ..

but i saw these in manchester and he stood out the most ..

    :)

  • Stewart is God!

I've NEVER seen or heard a better drummer.

    ..did I mention he's reeeealy hot too? ♥ :)

  • Sting is amazing but Copeland should never be ignored when talking of the police. Especially true after I saw the concert on Wed... damn the Police are awesome. (Pity I was in the nosebleed section of the Bowl, ended up seeing the monitors more than the musicians)

  • ah...i'm a guitarist/keyboardist and

so when i hear police i naturally follow

    the guitar/bass......but always end

    up wanting to play drums!

  • look up keith moon or neal peart

  • neal pert is a definite

  • I watched them in Madrid last saturday. Copeland did the best of the best, Summers and Sting attitude wasn´t that good sadly...

  • Why? You cannot compare a player like Stewart and Neil.

  • check RUSH's Neil Peart

  • Saw this in Orlando last night, simply amazing! Also saw it in Tampa 7/11/07, was not even a fan of the commercial version of this tune and it steals the show fow me now. Thanks for posting.

  • I saw this at the Columbus concert too and it was excellent! I was very impressed with the performance. This was my 3rd time seeing Sting. And I plan on seeing him again. Love him!

  • Just saw the show in Columbus and I loved this part too! Thanks for capturing it and posting it! By the way, was there ever a video version showing him doing this? I just looked up the original video for this song and its SO boring, just Sting jumping around among candles, lucky he didn't start a fire.

  • My goodness what a performance!!!

  • Great version. They did the same in Dublin in October 2007. The highlight of the night for me.

  • I was at the Dallas show and when they pulled this off with the percussive version I was speechless. I had a gig that next week and on the road that's all I could talk about to the drummer and percussionist in the band. And they totally understand.

  • saw their show in adelaide SA..brilliant..stuart copeland is brilliant.fergie was cute..

  • amazing..i saw it live, it was even better

  • I was at their performance in Montreal and it was one of the best concerts ever. Sting is an amaizing artist. It is not important where you are but who you are with...

  • This is an amazing video!! Can't watch it enough. Not enough videos of Stew playing with his toys! LOVE IT! And have shared it with many Stew fans. Thanks so much!

  • Stewart is correct: That's a BIG gong.

  • Stewart plays other instruments as well but drums are his primary thing.

'...I think every drummer should learn to play keyboards as well. Remember, the music biz is a business, so don't sell yourself short by being just a drummer.'

    Dave Weckl, Modern Drummer.

  • it's going to be a sad day for music when stewart is gone

  • what!? how old is he!? that guy is a drumming god!! he blasts the shit out of the drums!! my musical idol!! Stewart Copeland kicks ass!!

  • hes so cool

  • I agree with everything you said about Stewart Copeland. But perhaps the person asking is just fortunate enough to be young enough not to know. ;-)

  • esperemos ese dia este bieen lejano

  • when he hit that low drum in Croke Park, Dublin, it cut right through me

  • I was in turin. this percussion set was unbelievable. he's the best. ever

  • no puede ser tan pero tan groso este chabon!

STEWART COPELAND YOU ARE THE BEST.

  • I wish half the people who claim to be "drummers" who are playing usless blast beats and silly "death core" / "metal core" fake metal crap take a listen to what it takes to be a skilled drummer and SUPPORT THE MUSIC. BRAVO STEWART!

  • Yes, and no. Depends if you listen to good stuff or not. Check out Tomas Haake from Meshuggah.

I do agree though - one shouldn't mask lack of skill and creativity with sheer volume of noise.

  • buenisimo

yo lo vi hacer la misma presentacion de WAYF aca en chile :)

    simplemente police

  • la cosa es simple... copeland es el mejor csm!!!

  • He is the best

  • Great! Unbelieveble Drummer!

  • CHRIST STEWART KEPT THE BEAT

  • his name is stewart copeland

  • I'm pretty sure he knows his name is Stewart Copeland. He was saying Christ before he said Stewart as a word of emotion.

Yeah that "Christ Stewart" is a damn good drummer! *rolls eyes*

  • im learning to play the drums because of him ! !! one day , one day ! he is without a doubt the best .

  • Stewart Copeland beast Percussionist and drummer

  • Police slips across the border into seattle..

my turf extends from vancouver, bc to san diego, how about you? see also yakima

don't know much about portland tho'

Mt. Shasta? Seattle: 23rd and Cherry:)

  • Great Copland, I'm shivering.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • one of the all time best bands !...Congratulations!!!!!

  • COPELAND RULES

  • Copeland is a BEAST

This is a great new version of the song.

  • thnx for posting

    Good video

concert in Amsterdam was also fantatsic

  • Copeland's such a dude

  • I saw em at Twickenham on the 9th. Absolutely gob smacked... I always liked the Police's stuff, I just didn't like it enough... but they changed that.... I was just yelling out the words to every song they played, staring at Copeland on his drums and percussion thing on this track and some others.... he really is the god of ze drums... number one inspiration to me...

  • Twickenham was fantastic - Andy rocks!!!

  • Copeland! What a star! Awesome drummer!

  • Thanks for posting this, I saw this show last nite, This was by far the most memorable moment for me, Id forgotten how good Copeland was, For me he stole the show.

  • Going tomorrow - Twickenham - can't wait.

  • Stewart Copeland was and will always be the best drums ever!!

Hate the way Sting sings...doesn`t want to go back to the good times

  • Thanks for posting this.... most elegant song they played on the tour.

  • The more I hear this version, the more I like it. They should re-record it just like this!!! Fantastic...

  • STEWART COPELAND ROCKS

  • Stewart Copeland rules!!!

  • Just hope Stewart wears the white trousers too!!!

  • Can't wait to see them if they sound this good!!!

  • Some member of this band is to blame for all the cynicism surrounding this tour. Slower vers. of the songs means fewer to do...fewer to rehearse etc???

  • They are so good musicians that they don't need to rehearse. They can do what they want with the versions. You know what? Go to bed!!!

  • Copeland made this epic song one of the greatest live songs I've ever seen - if not the best.

  • I cried during this at Hartford, CT. So good.

  • wrapped around your finger is still one of my fav's along with tea in the sahara..

  • stewart the soul the police!!!!! thanks stu,the best!!

  • Saw them in Montreal Wednesday night.....AWESOME!!! this tune just blew me away!! Sublime:)

    -s-

  • Love this! Saw them in Toronto last night and they were simply magical. I've always loved Stewart...awesome at everything he does.

  • Cool video. At around 3:35 - 3:36 when Stewart tosses his drum sticks in the air one of them hits Andy. Looks like Andy turns around and looks at Stewart. Vintage Stewart - gotta love the stick tossing in some of these vids...

  • My kids thought this was hilarious!! They Love Stewart.

  • Who is Stu? Just kidding! Yup he is good. And Shar, do alot more you concert freak you.

  • things you dont know about these guys we learn from Sharwolf

  • COPELAND IS GOD

  • Love Love Love Stu!

  • this blew my mind when I saw it at Bonnaroo

  • This was the best song because of Stewart on percussion and drums. Love him! He's awesome.

  • ah great clip! stewart is so brilliant!

  • Stewart you are simply THE BEST!!--- AWESOME!!!

  • AWESOME!!

    Absolutely Amazing!!!

  • cool video...awesome...!!!

  • You guys must help me...

I know it sounds sillly but...few days ago I saw a video where Andy jumped (during on of their songs)- three times! I accidentally deleted that video from my playlist and now I can't remember which concert it was,not to mention which video it was. They only thing I remember was-the video was REALLY short(1 minute or less) and the lights were blue/white. That's it... :( Please, can someone at least tell me which concert it was?
