  • werent these based on starions?

  • @mhavrilla88 Not based, They WERE starions. Just rebadged.

  • These cars look like the LFS XR GT

  • my grandpa has 2 of these conquests...they have both been in branson missouri at this past conquest car show and he won best paint on his in 2010 and he bought the one that one best paint the year before him and he is going to pidgeon forge this commin weekend

  • Back of that thing reminds me of my old 85 Celica GTS so much, lol.

  • Nice car. I dont remember seeing one tho? I do remember the daytona

  • wow your talking about cars and the most unreliable car there is and you call someone a noob kid you kow shit about cars go back to video games bitch

  • I had two of these cars when i was young one was a nightmare it would just die and you would have to sit and wait for 5-10 min before it would start again. The other one however was a dream it was and is the fastest car i have ever had including the two corvettes i have had.

  • I used to have a Chrysler Conquest TSI and I absolutely loved it. It handled like it was on rails and had plenty of power. The only bummer was the turbo lag and the utter lack of availability of parts.

  • I'll take either the conquest or a Shelby, haven't seen a Shelby turbo in years though :(

  • @blown0883 man... i had an 86 shelby charger. red. TURBO! dumped a ton of money into her..... then i sold it. that ASSHOLE spray painted it black!!!!

  • @blown0883 I collect them and restore the Daytona Shelby's. Currently I have four of them... If you come across any of them, hit me up.

  • Is that Mopar's take on a 944?

  • @BavarianMotorWorks1 Mitsubishi. This car is Japanese. It is the exact same as a Mitsubishi Starion. It was just sold in North America with America badges so that people wouldn't blow it off as a silly rice burner. These cars are epic

  • @FelipeFromColombia They re-badged it and sold it here as a Chrysler not because they did'nt want people to dismiss it as a "silly rice burner" but because Americans cant seem to make a descent small car... No, I take that back. Ford small cars are ok (even though the ones available here in us suck compared to euro spec models) , but chysler and chevy have to re-badge toyotas and mitsubishis for their small cars.. Coincedence that chevy and dodge were the ones in trouble? I think not.

  • @bliglum Well, that too. I'm just saying what the claims of the company were when the car came out. For all I know, that was just a guise to mask their shitty build quality. And I agree, why can't we get a Focus ST?!

  • @FelipeFromColombia dude they had mitsubishi starions in the US too buddy.

  • @BavarianMotorWorks1 no its mitsubishi

  • @jewbag18 not as many

  • Only pussies erase other peoples comments!

  • i would love to be driving my 92 daytona.... too bad the guy that owned it before me put the camshaft on too tight, and left a hole in my fuel pump.... 100k + miles.... before the camshaft was shred to pieces, it ran like a beauty... and i could only imagine what she would have run like fully functional.....

  • Wow...my 1989 Daytona was ready for the scrap yard at 110,000 miles...it was the most worthless piece of garbage I ever owned. My friend's 1989 Cavalier lasted 235,000 miles before it died.

  • Still would love me a Starion.

  • my brother has a 87....giant turbo that blows ninja bikes off the street...that explains the speed of it? =: _:=

  • theres 2 starions in this video....

  • I have no idea why there's so much insulting going on. I have no idea how you can say a 7 second flat Daytona is a grocery getter (The 1990 VNT like my dad had) and yes, the Starion/Conquest is a SICK drifter. I just have no idea why there is so much fighting over two, awesome yet for some reason, near unheard-of cars that NEVER got the credit they deserved. I'm just upset we still have the sluggish, gas-guzzling Camaros around that EVERYONE has heard of. MOPAR FTW!

  • the daytona motor was made by lotus

  • @blockbeata09 In '92 - '93, a Daytona IROC R/T (not to be confused with the Daytona IROC w/ the 3.0 Mitsu) had a Lotus head mated to the Chrysler 2.2, and provided 250 hp under boost. Fast, but had many mechanical issues. Very few survive today.

  • daytonas kick ass so do these your all stupid

  • Here's an idea you aholes. Especially the know it all's throwing the Mitsu name around like they know something. In USA you had the Chrysler Conquest, Plymouth Laser, Dodge Daytona, Eagle Talon, & Mitsu Starion built around the same platform.because that group of companies shared parts to cut cost or further development doesn't mean shit. It's the tag on the bumper that counts. I had a 91DaytonaES w/3.0v6 does that make it a Mitsu? No! It had Dodge tags and a Pentastar on the nose...Fuckin hacks

  • So there is no confusion from the Peanut Gallery. The 3.0ltr v6 was a Mitsu engine. Also known as the "3-0 smoker"

  • @dudelabowski6969 : The crysler conquest was 100% made by mitsubuishi. No one here wants to hear about your dodge daytona. The dodge daytona had nothing to do with conquest/starion. Go find a daytona video.

  • @dudelabowski6969 : The Dodge Daytona was crap. The Daytona was NOT made by Mitsubishi.

The Conquest WAS made by Mitsubishi, even though it had a crysler badge.

  • Whatever man. My old man has been a chrysler tech sincethe early 70's. He's 5star Chrysler decorated, awarded, and certified one of the top chrysler mechanicis in the north east. I'll take his word over yours. The daytona was a peice of crap huh? seems many have well over 150,000 on them running strong and none of the Conquests made it past 100,000 with their factory engine.

  • @dudelabowski6969 : The daytona makes it to 150,000 miles because its not a real performance car. The daytona is for getting groceries. The Conquest is for racing, drifting, peeling out etc. Again the daytona WAS NOT MADE BY MITSUBUISHI.

  • Yeah, I guess the 2.2l intercooled turbo Carrol Shelby put his name on was so granny could pick up here prunes alittle faster. Or the Mopar brand Super60 performance add ons that bring the car up to over 300hp and factory instaled koni adjustable shocks that were a dealer option arnt comp. material? Also not all, but some of ,including mine, of the 1991ES v6 cars were mitsu engines.

  • @dudelabowski6969 I have an '84 Daytona Turbo Z with 150,000 on the clock. I've owned it since new. Just added a grainger valve and upped the boost to 12 psi from the stock 7 psi.

  • @dudelabowski6969 Damn rights our Daytonas are running strong. Kudos man.

  • @dudelabowski6969

That's not entirely true. the 2.6 both carbed and turbocharged models are excellent runners. I know of at least 4 of those motors that have well over 250k miles on them. I also see way more Daytonas in the scrapyard than Conquests/Starions.

The achilles heel of the 2.6 G54B is the cooling system, like all high tolerance motors you must stay on top of the cooling or it will overheat and blow a gasket or head. That's more the fault of the owner ignoring service intervals.

  • @dudelabowski6969 Actually I personally know of 3 that have hit 200k on their factory motors :) Don't generalize

  • @dudelabowski6969 are u retarded? there are plenty of conquests with over 100,000 miles, even 150,000 miles on stock engine. noob

  • @dudelabowski6969 lol, you mean the 2.2s and 2.5s in Daytonas that blow headgaskets ever 25,000 miles?

  • @mrZdude

Mine current 2.5 t Shadow has 138k miles on the original head gasket. I have owned many dodge 2.2/2.5 and the only time a HG went was after the motor had overheated.

The HG's in my venture have gone, the ones in my wifes Civic have gone,. Sh6t happens you know.

  • @dudelabowski6969 then why is there a local one thats at 308,000 miles and still going?

  • @jeffgooloolie lol The Daytona was crap. That's why with a few mods it could generate 300+ hp and run 11's.

Just search "Fast Daytonas" for a link to Drag Times dot com

    STOCK: 1987 Dodge Daytona Turbo II 7.6 0 to 60, 15.8 1/4 mile

    STOCK: 1986 Mitsubishi Starion ESI-R 8.3 0 to 60, 16.2 1/4 mile

  • @boardskins The daytona is a ugly, american piece of crap. I dont care what you do to it, its still ugly crap. Go post on a daytona video. GTFO.

  • @jeffgooloolie That's a silly response, since the Mitsu Starion was modeled after the Chrysler G4 concept car displayed at the 1981 National Auto Expo. Chrysler was in the planning stages of rebadging the Starion as a Dodge at that time. Once Dodge realized the limitations of selling the rebadged Starion, they put the Daytona in production, which was basically the G4 prototype. It's funny that the Daytona out sold the Starion / Conquest, has more than one enthusiast club, and 100s on the road.

  • @boardskins The best way to insult boardskins is to tell the sad truth. Boardskins is here viewing starions/conquest videos, yet I NEVER WATCH VIDEOS OF DAYTONAS !!!!!

  • @boardskins I know this is an old post, but some things need corrected. Daytonas outsold Starquests, but there are 2 reasons for this. One is simply is that Starquest cost more. They were an expensive car.

Second Mitsubishi was close to the limits of how many cars it could import. Because of that they tried to import cars they'd make a high profit margin on (meaning the top line models). Several lower end versions of the Starion never made it to our shores.

  • @boardskins The whole reason DSMs came about is to sell most Mitsubishi designed car in the states. Honda nad Toyota had the cash to build US factories. Mitsubishi did not so they teamed up with their long time partner, Chrysler, to make it happen.

I'm a Daytona fan, as well as an owner of a Conquest. I will say though I prefer the Conquest.

  • @boardskins The Daytona wasn't crap, but were in the same class really? The Starion was set to go against the other Japanese coupes.

The Starion numbers posted are the lowest I can find. One site has the ES (non-intercooled) at 7.5. Even then the rags and car builders at the time were fat lairs most times. But those numbers don't tell the whole story anyway. The 2.6 is a very capable engine in a good platform. The Starion was the first import to run 7s.

  • Uh, if you think the Conquest and Starion were built around the same platform as a Laser, Daytona or Talon... keep dreaming.

  • They where not your right the Conquest will smoke any Daytona, Talon, etc...

  • @carnypimp Not true. Do a little research on allpar.com before spouting off.

  • @boardskins Fuck Daytona's!

  • @carnypimp That's "Fuck Daytonas!" As in more than one, or all Daytonas; not "Daytona's", which makes Daytona a possesive, which it cannot be. I guess you're illiterate as well as ignorant.

  • @boardskins Is that all you got to come up with? I have seen your other comments on tuner videos. Those fucking piece of shit rice burners will never hang with real muscle cars and ZR1. Chevy is King and always will be! My point is even if you show solid proof I will not agree with you!

  • @carnypimp So you admit that you're dillusional? "My point is even if you show solid proof I will not agree with you!" What a fucktard. lol

  • Still the Conquest is way faster than any of the others you listed. It is a real sports car!

  • So I guess the starion/conquest was not unlike the 3000gt/stealth...

  • ive seen two of these things in real life when i was at wyotech one was turbo'd and it was fast.

  • Known as a Mitsubishi Starion in other markets...

  • My friend almost killed himself in one of these. Really fast car and a really light ass.

  • sick car man, I've only seen about 3 in my entire life.

  • Mitsu, Dodge.. they're basically the same thing, and they both come out with great cars. SRT-4/Lancer is a big one.

  • u either see these cars look'n good or look'n fuck'd up. there's no middle. this one is good and powerful. rare cars. i have an '88.

  • @popeboyy most are in the middle in new zealand, mine is

  • half the people on here posting comments on whether its dodge plymouth honda chrysler youre offically retarded. the conquest is mitsubishi it just so happens to have virtually universal motor mounts and can hold an engine of any of those manufacturers including ford.

  • It's built 100% in Japan by Mitsubishi.

This red car is a version sold as a Chrysler Conquest, the painted front grill is a Conquest only item. Mitsu Starions had black grills.

Conquests were sold 84-87 as Plymouths. That car has an 88/89 airdam on it, making it a 1988 Chrylser Conquest... built completely by Mitsubishi.

  • Thanx you~!!! U seen to know much about Mitsubishi what about the D32A's Rare that have been seen in Japan as well. to date do the [Americans] Ship it as a USDM to send oversea's to them in japan or are they

Rarely made. by Mitsubishi' manufacturers in japan as well by also non-talons made in japan nope. only Mitsubishi's

  • Actually, Obama is half black and half white. So, its not that much of a big deal I dont think.

  • Stop being so racist, you bastard.

  • technicaly its crystler

  • it's a plymouth asshole
